My neighbour has been annoying me for months and months

I couldn’t take it any more today and snapped at her to just fuck off and leave us alone.

She moved in just over 2 years ago and was overly friendly from the start but I thought it was just her trying to be nice. About a year ago she seemed to be there every time either of us left the house.
She started asking could she add a few bits to our weekly grocery delivery and then didn’t pay us back so after 3 weeks I said sorry we won’t be doing that any more.
If dh goes in the garden she’s there asking for help with something, in spring and summer she wants him to cut her grass for her and when he said sorry he’s busy and doing ours then we have plans she text me to say I’m controlling not allowing him to help her ??

Knocking all the time asking to ‘borrow’ Dh for lifting something / fixing something / etc etc

Wanting to park on our drive often and when I say no she does it anyway ??

EVERY bloody weekday morning she’s there waiting by the car wanting a lift to school and sometimes dh drops me to work on the way and then there isn’t enough room for her and her dc and she will say that I should make my own way then storms off !

There’s more as well I can’t list it all but she’s suffocating and relentless and so so needy.

Today she has been texting asking can dh drop her to the out of hours as she hasn’t felt well. I said no we are busy she should get a taxi. She then came round to ask dh herself and when i said he was busy she said ‘you don’t own him !!’

I’ve told her to never contact us again that we find her exhausting and are considering moving . She told me she wouldn’t be so persistent if we were ‘better natured’ and ‘helped without pressure’ 😂😂 which was when I told her to FO and shut the door.

She text afterwards to tell me I’m very selfish and I don’t have a ‘village mindset’ !!

Not unreasonable in the slightest, she sounds awful.

Out of interest, how old is she?

Cheeky fuckery has no age boundaries.....

MuggleMe · 01/03/2025 17:41

Ah the very person CF was coined for. Absolutely NBU, well done for being polite for as long as you have, especially with the school run.

Miloarmadillo2 · 01/03/2025 17:41

She’s a classic CF - give an inch, take a mile.
Has she ever repaid any of these favours? Is your DH a kid doing bob a job week?

FionnulaTheCooler · 01/03/2025 17:42

Block her number and keep refusing to do things for her until she gets the message. Cheeky cow.

I think she’s just really lazy she does nothing so I don’t know why she felt it was acceptable to tell me I don’t have a village mindset (I assume she meant doormat 😂)

She sounds unhinged. I had a neighbour that was about a 10th as clingy (round all the bloody time but at least didn't demand lifts/help etc) and it was genuinely a large factor in us moving house.

ShouldIEvenBother · 01/03/2025 17:44

Is the poor damsel in distress is keen on your husband? In any case, she doesn't respect boundaries and sounds like a pain on the arse tbh. Block her number.

SparklyGlitterballs · 01/03/2025 17:47

Tell her you and DH are not free taxis/handyman services and if she needs help your rates are £30 per hour, payable by the hour, booked and paid in advance to your convenience. Bet she won't be so demanding if she had to pay.

festivemouse · 01/03/2025 17:47

A "village mindset" is such a MN phrase - I bet she's here somewhere moaning about her lack of village!

Honestly she sounds like an ultimate CF at best, at worst a bunny boiler who had a shrine to your helpful DH. Make sure she doesn't have plans of liberating him from your oh so controlling hold! 😂

NowYouSee · 01/03/2025 17:48

You should both block her on your phones. That should help.

I don’t think so, I can’t be sure obviously but I think she’s just lazy and wants help with everything. Dh is one of those people whose face has subtitles so I can tell even if she does like him that I wouldn’t have to worry at all 😂 if he leaves the house and she jumps out from somewhere to say hello he looks like he wants to disappear

Gosh, I thought you were going to say 70s or 80s even.
What CF! Don't do anything else for her, make sure dh is on the same page. Let her go in a huff, who cares. Make sure you ban the driveway parking as well. I'm not sure if you have dcs, but of you do, get them kicking balls and playing on bikes! She'll sharp not park there again.

nutbrownhare15 · 01/03/2025 17:52

Ask her what she has ever done for your family, clearly she doesn't have a village mindset either

MikeRafone · 01/03/2025 17:53

well she certainly doesn't have a village mindset - she doesn't do anything for any of her neighbours, not one single attempt to help anyone

He went round once not long after she moved in as she needed help moving a bookcase and a chest of drawers and he seemed so confused when he got back as she offered him food and said she could quickly make him ‘a nice sausage roll with 6 fried eggs on top sprinkled with paprika and a Guinness to wash it down’ apparently when he said no thanks it’s a bit early for lunch she was very offended that he declined and asked him ‘why ? Are you a vegan?’ He said it was just a very odd situation 😂

I would have had a voodoo doll along time ago and been sticking pin's in it.
Joking aside..she sounds nut's.

MrsJHernandez · 01/03/2025 17:57

Good God. What an entitled, demented cow.

You don't owe her anything and she acts like your husband is hers. You were right to tell her to bugger off - she's taking the piss. So rude.

Lol at her telling you to make your own way to work. Un-fucking-believable nerve of the bitch!

Have you seen 'The trouble with Maggie Cole?' on Netflix? She is reminding me of the school secretary who fancies the headteacher (particularly the fish and chips scene, because he can't just have vegetable lasagne for lunch!). 😂🤢

Neighbourissuedaily · 01/03/2025 17:58

Constantly wanting to borrow things too and maybe I should have realised at first and said no but initially it was ‘a few teabags’ as the shop is shut or ‘something for ds lunchbox’ or a tin opener or toilet paper as she had forgotten to get it always small things so at first I said ok. It was only when she didn’t pay for the bits she added to our shopping that all that stopped.

No I haven’t seen that sounds similar though 😂 he said she really seemed to be asking was he a vegan as if it was the worst thing you could possibly be !
