First we get that alarm, now Tesco is closed tomorrow. It's the end, isn't it?

Our massive glass recycling bin has blown over already and there are bottles all over the road. And we’re still in the very early stages!

I red that as your recycling bin was glass, I couldn't work out if it was a stupid idea or you incredibly posh.

Viviennemary · 24/01/2025 08:45

Do you mean all Tescos. Or only the red alert areas. All this scaremongering is getting a bit much. My bin has probably fallen over. But I can deal with that.

My morrisons and aldi are also closed. People on lidl social media complaining that they are open. I went outside to check my fence. Bins are hopefully helping to support it as its a bit wobbly. Wheeled bins up the path last night.

Of course it is if your in a red zone. People will die in this storm and people need to be warned to not put themselves at risk unnecessarily as it then puts emergency service workers at risk. We all know there will be photos and videos of idiots standing round the coast tomorrow for a tiktok.

i know, it was sarcasm, there was meant to be a weather radar picture with it that showed the HUGE low and storm wind speed approaching. the picture didn't post >.<

WinterBones · 24/01/2025 09:45

fromthevault · 23/01/2025 23:20

Not if you're in the yellow zone, like I am and (I hope) you are too.

But red zones are rare and - despite all the frothing about overreactions - are serious. Hopefully it will pass without too much incident, but it's only common sense to stay home and not travel if you can possibly help it.

The emergency services are stretched enough as it is without idiots trying to prove that red weather warnings are just woke rubbish for snowflakes.

Eughenia · 24/01/2025 10:07

We're under a yellow warning and there's just wind here. There does seem to be a dog event happening over in the park opposite though, which is something new on this Friday morning.

HootyMcBoobs · 24/01/2025 10:08

Red Zone area here, wind only 77mph here but to peak to around 100mph peak at 2pm.
It's quite unnerving to be fair. Garden trees are holding on for dear life despite being tied and well staked. I'm worried about my 8 foot Red Robin that I've spent the last 5 years growing (I realised this is a first world problem!).

Neighbourhood WhatApp shows a pic of a huge trampoline dangling over a wall and about to hit a VERY expensive car.......

We all got the alarm in Ireland/N Ireland. One of my friends said it sounded like the Purge alarm 😂
Not a mission I'm going anywhere today. Its absolutely wild here

DreamW3aver · 24/01/2025 10:18

Sky News rolling photo gallery has a very worrying shot of a blown over bin. But their reporters outside are finding it hard to stand still

It did! It sounded very similar.

Sky don't give a shit about their reporters, they could lose one.

I just watched back some of the footage on our ring camera. We're in the red zone. My neighbours let their poor cat out this morning. What is wrong with people!?

Maybe they hate it.

DH got the alarm again this morning - none of the rest of us did though

I heard one I'm convinced of it, but no one in our house. Must've been a neighbour.

Come on, a bit of common sense please!
It's shut. You'd have to do it in the car park.

If you do, you should expect a massive penalty for overstaying.

My Samsung watch gave an alarm about 10 minutes ago. It didn't have one yesterday. Nothing else had the alarm today.

My cats have a catflap. If they choose to go out that's on them! One did go out a wee while ago and then promptly came back in.

Where do the birds all go when it’s this bad?

I know lots nest in buildings or more recently under solar panels etc but what about all the ones who don’t. Trees are not safe to be perched in ina red area.

There is a bunch in my garden eating the worms. They don't seem particulary worried about the storm.

spacepies · 24/01/2025 13:20

We have had bad weather before its no different.
So far just wind in our part and a bit of rain last night.
However i love a good storm and rough weather.
I love all the weather mumnet hates.

They have all come out of the trees to sit on fence posts here.

Sahara123 · 24/01/2025 14:25

Red area here. There’s some blue tits lined up on the fence waiting for their turn on the feeder ! I watched a flick of something trying to fly earlier and being actually blown backwards !
Went for a quick walk as I love a storm and could barely stand !

Sahara123 · 24/01/2025 14:25

flock not flick !
