First we get that alarm, now Tesco is closed tomorrow. It's the end, isn't it?

Not sure about everyone but the three outage is affecting its subsidiaries and some people are reporting they can't call 999. That is rather worrying especially for those on the storm red zone. It's been down for over 8 hours now.

I'm usually pretty sanguine about these things but I'm feeling slightly anxious this evening and very frustrated.

The massive honking alarm on your phone that scared the shit out of most people. Me, anyway.

How did they do that? What did it sound like? I'm intrigued.

Blizy · 23/01/2025 22:11

@Myspinebrokefromcarryingus I'm in central Scotland and we got
The alarm too.

Motomum23 · 23/01/2025 22:11

The answer to your question is a resounding yes... the chances of it being tonight/tomorrow are considerably less particularly if you live in a storm hit area- don't make stupid journeys to tesco and you'll be fine.

RandomButtons · 23/01/2025 22:11

The only thing that’s guaranteed in life is death and taxes. So yeah. Probably not tomorrow though. Mind you it’s nearly the 31st of January so if you’re self employed you might feel like you’re about to die when you see your tax bill for the year.

DeliciousApples · 23/01/2025 22:12

Yup in Scotland our phones all BLARED an alarm warning LOUDLY and when you read what the message said, it was about the red weather warning we have here. Scary stuff lol!! X

Choice4567 · 23/01/2025 22:13

Yeah not everyone got that alarm though...!

RandomButtons · 23/01/2025 22:13

User67556 · 23/01/2025 22:10

Emergency government alert. When they did it for Wales it went off as I was aquaplaning on the M4 in the dark.

I didn’t appreciate that. It’s repeated load alarm buzzing, horrible noise.

Stormwhatnow · 23/01/2025 22:13

I've seen social media posts saying that people screamed when all the alarms went off in restaurants and supermarkets Grin
Apparently thought it was Putin. I didn't hear mine, it was downstairs 🤷

CheerfulBunny · 23/01/2025 22:14

FFS. Is this life now?? Everything is weaponised now, even the bastard weather which has ALWAYS been crap in this country. It's winter and yes, sometimes storms and bad things happen. They always have. Check historic records. I wish people would take no notice of this bollocks and just get on with their lives and stop acting like meerkats, bobbing about looking for the next thing to panic about. I think some people just enjoy the drama tbh.

ScarletWitchM · 23/01/2025 22:14

Tesco is open - I’ve just been there 😂

Crazytimesbackthen · 23/01/2025 22:14

There’s no point in advising folk in the red alert area to stay home then telling Tesco staff to risk their safety by travelling to work to sit in an empty shop. Tesco deliveries are also cancelled tomorrow.Schools are closed in Scotland and Ireland and public transport cancelled . If the forecast is accurate it’s going to be a rough day.

dementedpixie · 23/01/2025 22:14

Myspinebrokefromcarryingus · 23/01/2025 22:08

Think it was only us people in northern Ireland that got the alarm???

I'm in Scotland and i got the alarm at around 5.50pm

Figgygal · 23/01/2025 22:15

We had the alarm in December and then a few hours of rain.......mid winter
Was such an anticlimax
You will survive this op

MrHenryHoover · 23/01/2025 22:16

There was a tornado down the road from me earlier and roofs got blown off houses (Cornwall). I am feeling a little uneasy and we aren’t even in the red zone, so I feel for the people who are.

dementedpixie · 23/01/2025 22:16

ScarletWitchM · 23/01/2025 22:14

Tesco is open - I’ve just been there 😂

OP will be talking about tomorrow when the red warning for wind is active

WhineAndWine1 · 23/01/2025 22:17

ScarletWitchM · 23/01/2025 22:14

Tesco is open - I’ve just been there 😂

They have sent an email advising they are closing and re opening once the red warning has been lifted

🙄 Of course we're all going to die. Everyone and everything that lives, dies.

We are not all dying this week though! CHILL!

graceinspace999 · 23/01/2025 22:18

If Tesco is shut then we’re all finished because obviously we can’t go a day without it.

dementedpixie · 23/01/2025 22:18

Our schools and buses and trains and leisure centres/libraries, etc are all cancelled tomorrow. Haven't heard about supermarkets being affected though

TheLargestToblerone · 23/01/2025 22:18

Is Tesco being closed a sign of the Apocalypse? Does it come under famine?

Doggymummar · 23/01/2025 22:18

Yes. Of course we are. Weird question ⁉️ edited as I have now read further posts and seems to be a weather event. I shall have a Google

Latenightreader · 23/01/2025 22:19

notprincehamlet · 23/01/2025 22:08

I googled Tesco and now I know that papaya is the fastest growing (in popularity) fruit in the UK. I don't think that's why they're closed though.

Papaya is the soapy tasting one, isn't it? I suppose it's popularity could only go up...

Thelnebriati · 23/01/2025 22:19

We had a power cut just long enough for me to swear loudly, then all the lights came back on.

Kimmeridge · 23/01/2025 22:20

TeaAndChaos · 23/01/2025 22:02

All phone services are down.

The apocalypse is amongst us.

No 3 is down. The others are ok
