First we get that alarm, now Tesco is closed tomorrow. It's the end, isn't it?

Carnage? As in, widespread violent and bloody death and slaughter?

I'm never going to get my fucking papayas now, am I?

You'll struggle.

It's still calm here (Belfast area). Seems to be kicking off a bit in Galway from what I have seen online!

Anyone else?

In the south east and the wind and rain are very loud. Briefly lost power twice already.

LadyGAgain · 24/01/2025 00:49

Live on the side of a hill. South England almost on the coast but classed as south east. Not even a whisper of wind or storm here so far. Hope everyone across our nations and Ireland remains safe.

SnowFrogJelly · 24/01/2025 00:52

No alarm or Tesco closure here 🥴

BiancasSilverCoat · 24/01/2025 00:56

Tesco is shit anyway. All that clubcard nonsense.

The wind has picked up since I last posted.

UnicornWorld · 24/01/2025 01:21

Scotland too. It was a bit freaky when it went off in the train station...on hundreds of phones

Think it was only us people in northern Ireland that got the alarm???

Nope! I'm in the Central Belt of Scotland and we got the alarm too!! We're in the red zone

hazelnutvanillalatte · 23/01/2025 22:08

Scotland and NI got a weather warning alarm on their phones I believe

I nearly had a heart attack when it sounded. I thought it was a nuclear war warning at first.

I knew it was coming but I still nearly shit myself!!

Why on earth is Tesco closed?

Well in our area there are no trains and buses, all been cancelled. Plus the safety of their staff

Same, no trains, no buses, no cremations, no dump runs, no shops, nada. Glad that people's safety is being prioritised.

Except one local family owned dept store who ventured to post that they would be open 9-5 as usual. Got shot down in flames, not surprisingly. Have had occasion to be pissed off with the ethos of same business before, and won't buy from there if I can get it anywhere else!

The post disappeared... I have no idea who the hell they think is going to be shopping with them during a red alert!!!

RocketNan · 24/01/2025 01:47

I knew the alarm was coming so I turned off the alert on my phone as I didn’t fancy shitting myself. Loud sirens are triggering for me.

I am taking notice of the alert etc, but since they forewarned us it was being sent to 5 million (?) people, I thought I’d quietly go and buy up all the bog roll in Sainsburys first and then turn the alarm off so I wouldn’t be startled as the content of it was shared anyway without the noise.

Treesinmygarden · 24/01/2025 01:54

TG I am stocked with loo roll! I have a chronic bowel condition and running out of bog roll is my nightmare!!

FOJN · 23/01/2025 22:06

Yes we're all going to die.

I’m not. I’ve looked into it, and decided against.

I'm not going to die either. Not over an event that lasts several hours and I can just stay at home and avoid it!!

LifeExperience · 24/01/2025 02:37

Yes, eventually.

Treesinmygarden · 24/01/2025 02:42

LifeExperience · 24/01/2025 02:37

Yes, eventually.

But not tonight unless we are foolish!

Bingbongbooboo33 · 24/01/2025 02:53

I'm sorry if no one has told you but yes we are.
Anyway, who wants to stay here forever, not me.

I'm in Scotland and got an alarm

ChicLilacSeal · 24/01/2025 03:54

Everyone stocking up on loo roll for a one-day event - so funny! When Covid happened, it was everyone's instinct to buy all the loo roll in sight even though it was a lung disease! 😂

I mean, who thinks "Oh I might get a lung infection - I KNOW, I'LL BUY ALL THE LOO ROLL AND THAT WILL PROTECT ME!"

It's like hearing that you need your gallbladder out so you go and stockpile bags of throat lozenges. IT MAKES NO SENSE! 😂

Especially since loo roll isn't a great way to clean yourself anyway. Bidets are better, like much of the rest of the world uses. If you run out of loo roll, you just use a water bottle or a jug in extremis.

But no, we must all secure our security, hygiene, and safety by battling all threats from behind a homemade castle of loo roll! 😂😂😂
