Following from the (ver popular!) thread about butter I started s few days ago, I decided I want a butter dish to start keeping part of the butter outside the fridge.
Need inspo, how about a show me a pic of your butter dish thread? 😆

@apricitykomorebi discovered these in the previous thread, never knew they existed! Assume you have to replace the water frequently? Is it not a pain when you open it with the water spilling?

I just use a small plastic tub but I'm considering a butter bell.

Jellycatspyjamas · 23/01/2025 08:00

Have a denby butter dish, it lives on my kitchen worktop. Keeps butter soft and spreadable, and cool enough in summer.

Pastelhp · 23/01/2025 08:05

This is mine. Very pretty, but I didn’t pay £42, I can assure you 😁I brought it from a le cruset outlet (always ask to see the grade 2 items with slight imperfections) this one had a slight grey mark on the underside of the dish so not visible.

Mine ☺️
Bought it twenty years ago, still going strong. Tempted by a Le Creuset now though!

I would suggest a flat base with a big lid, rather than a container-type base and a flat lid. I find the latter much harder to get butter out of - especially towards the end of it.

LadyGrillingSole · 23/01/2025 08:08

I'm also looking for a new butter dish, I broke the lid on my Emma Bridgewater one 🙁
Something pretty would be nice, I'm still in the shabby chic/country kitchen type style ( yes, I know my kitchen is 15 years out of date, but I like what I like and anything sleek, minimalist and modern is just not me ).

Didimum · 23/01/2025 08:09

I also have a Le Creuset one in red.

MixedFamily · 23/01/2025 08:11

LC one is fab but £46 is a lot… might wait for 20% off..

Pastel, you star!😎

Your dish would match my mixer, lovely colour, I'm off to get one! Thank you 🙂

InterestQ · 23/01/2025 08:13

I have the Robin one but gave the fox one to a friend for Christmas!

Not terribly helpful but I love mine. Bought on holiday in Uzes a couple of years ago.

I also got mine from the LC outlet so didn’t pay £42!

Crikey, mumsneters have amazing taste in butter dishes 😍

coffeeagogo · 23/01/2025 08:16

This is my one, I like being able to see how much butter is left:

although now I have weird butter dish envy - it’s the sort of item you only need one of isn’t it…

newtb · 23/01/2025 08:17

I use a ramekin and take off about 30g to use at a time.

apricitykomorebi · 23/01/2025 08:17

@MixedFamily The water doesn't really spill (maybe some drops but not much more). You'd have to change water regularly but it's no big deal for me.

apricitykomorebi · 23/01/2025 08:18

@InterestQ really cute 😊

Ameliepoulainandthephotobooth · 23/01/2025 08:18

We also have LC but in teal 😂

Offredismysister · 23/01/2025 08:19

I’ve got the stainless steel one too & keep the whole block in it. But Im now tempted by the robin one.
