Following from the (ver popular!) thread about butter I started s few days ago, I decided I want a butter dish to start keeping part of the butter outside the fridge.
Need inspo, how about a show me a pic of your butter dish thread? 😆

I bought this for DH for Christmas a couple of years ago. You set the temperature for the consistency you want and that is how the butter stays whether it is is a heatwave or freezing in the room. DH loves it and I have started eating butter as well now I know it isn't going to rip the bread to bits when I try to spread it.

Another le crueset here but paid about 13 quid in TK Maxx.

NoWordForFluffy · 23/01/2025 11:01

We have this one. I got it second hand on eBay as I was too tight to buy it new!

cheap and cheerful here - been lusting after the LC one for ages but can't ever justify it.

I was given a Le Creuset but hated the little recessed handle - even with my small hands it was awkward, so I sold it on. I'm using my mum's old 1970s stainless steel, deep one now - it's much lighter, I'm not scared of dropping it and I can pop it in a very low oven to soften the butter if I need to.

Mines a vintage one from a charity shop by Price & Kensington

MabelsBeats · 23/01/2025 11:10

Mine is this, would recommend. I used to have one with sides and you just took the lid off the top, and that was awkward to get all the butter out of! This one lifts off top and sides, which works better for me.

I have that one too but in the Strawberry Thief print.

I also have a white porcelain one for when the above one is being washed.

This is mine, from Etsy. Hand made by a potter in Cornwall. When one of my dc broke the base, I contacted the seller and he kindly made me a replacement base so I didn’t have to buy a whole new one.

I'd suggest quite the reverse. I find that in cold weather like we're having now, the butter is hard and moves around on a flat base. I have both types of butter dishes (I.e. flat base and container) and I much prefer the container type. I have no problems getting butter out when there's very little left.

Same! I broke 2 of the box lid/flat base ones because the butter got around the rim and made it slide off

PumpkinSpicePie · 23/01/2025 11:42

. The base of butter dishes should be ridged so it doesn't slide around. Mine is
