Following from the (ver popular!) thread about butter I started s few days ago, I decided I want a butter dish to start keeping part of the butter outside the fridge.
Need inspo, how about a show me a pic of your butter dish thread? 😆

@WearyLady
Completely agree with the container type dish being superior. Much easier to use. The DC were forever flicking bits of butter off our old LC ones and we went through three lids as they are precarious when balance on their backs.

This is mine. I also have a special Christmas one 🙈😂

This is mine: Kitchen Craft storage container
I got it for under a fiver from a local kitchenware shop, it's not very glamorous but it holds a pack of butter perfectly, it's easy to keep clean and it's hard wearing. The glass is thick so even in hot weather the butter doesn't get all melted if it's out of the fridge. I bought it as a stopgap after my previous butter dish broke, and three years later it's still going strong!

I use the Lakeland insulated butter dish. https://www.lakeland.co.uk/1496/insulated-butter-dish

My kitchen is very cold in winter and the butter is a bit too hard and if there's a heatwave, the butter does significantly soften (so I put less in there at a time). So I'm not completely convinced by it's 'insulation' claim and think I might have been better off with a pretty one instead.

Insulated Butter Dish | Lakeland

Keep butter cool but spreadable all day long with our insulated butter dish. Made from double-walled stainless steel & with a stylish satin finish.

As cute as the whale shaped butter dish upthread is, I would be completely put off seeing a whale every time I wanted some butter 😆

There was a thread about this years ago and lots of people all went off and got themselves this one (including me).

I've got one of these. The absolute best Secret Santa gift I've ever received!

IthinkIsawahairbrushbackthere · 23/01/2025 10:40

I bought this for DH for Christmas a couple of years ago. You set the temperature for the consistency you want and that is how the butter stays whether it is is a heatwave or freezing in the room. DH loves it and I have started eating butter as well now I know it isn't going to rip the bread to bits when I try to spread it.

We had this for a happy few years, but it chips really easily and annoyingly didn't hold quite a full block. We did get to say, pass me the Budda or you'll never spread a Buddha bit of butter on your toast.
And watch out for Anthropologie, nearly bought online something that was gorgeous but would struggle to contain 50g

So many lovely butter dishes , here’s mine . I’m on the lookout for a toast rack now (not to potentially derail the thread 🙈)

We had a lurpak one which broke.

Mightymoog · 23/01/2025 10:47

Sorry everybody but mine knocks the rest out of the park.

They plug in and you set the temperature for your perfect spreadability! Absolutely fantastic, no more rock hard butter in winter or too soft and going rancid in summer.
I don't work for them. Just live their butter dishes and wonder why plug in ones aren't more of a thing

I have teal Le Crueset one, got mine from tk maxx for £12 but I think they've stopped selling Le Crueset now

Tootruetoberreal · 23/01/2025 10:50

I'm wanting to convert to butter blocks, because I'm finding that spreadable butter isn't very nice now.

How long can you leave it out of the fridge for? Won't it go off?
