To think I’m not doing anything wrong

Back to work on Monday after a lovely 2 weeks off! I’m currently reading a book (well I was before I came on here) with a glass of wine and left over Pringles from Christmas.

DH was out doing his hobby and he’s just come back home and asked me why I was drinking. I said I’m having a glass of wine, not exactly having shots rolling around everywhere. He said that I shouldn’t be drinking while looking after DC and that drinking alone in the house when it’s not Christmas anymore is “weird” DC1 is upstairs in their room and DC2 is sat on the floor playing.

AIBU?

Ok then.

Is that all?

Yep. That's all. You're entitled to batshit opinions

Well done. Glad you all survived. Hope dp has stopped being a stupid guy too.

Just realised it changed 'git' to 'guy' - git is what I meant!

I would never have a child if I couldn't drive it to hospital.

This is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read on here - and there are so very many batshit things to choose from.

I think it's a joke.

Although with do much batshittery on here, it's almost impossible to tell.

Viserrisk · 05/01/2025 13:17

@RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie I think my personal favorite is “one day you will think - why did I sit there and read that stupid book when I could have played with the dc on the floor?”

Personally I'd be thinking why I didn't read more books and let them.do the fucking slime factory by themselves, but here we are 🤷‍♀️

Yes. But have you seen the very similar comments that are not jokes? You can see why people can't see the humour...

I usually drop the kids off at A&E first. That way I can come home and enjoy my glass of wine in peace.

wandawaves · 05/01/2025 13:27

YANBU to have a glass of wine, or even two.
YABU to have anything other than sour cream and onion pringles, as they are the best.

WorkCleanRepeat · 05/01/2025 13:56

It's not something I'd have done (but I don't really like alcohol so my opinion probably doesn't count)

I'd have opened a second bottle out of pettiness if my OH had moaned at me about that though.

Jesus Christ! What if your car, heaven forbid, was in the garage? What do you do if you're abroad, what happens if someone else has your car?

That’s a great idea just make sure you’re not planning on reading a book as well. Mind you your kids will be at A&E so you can read all you like!

I would say he has issues with alcohol, whether consciously or not. Perhaps an alcoholic in his family, and "rules" that drinking around kids is bad.

I'm aware I'm loony about alcohol being drunk in a house in any situation, it's taken me years to tolerate it, so I'm unsure what the norm is.

It's still Christmas till tomorrow. And what's wrong with a glass of wine? I am going to have one, or maybe two. He's being holier than thou. He went out to do his hobby - that's a bit thick when you have DC, isn't it? 😂
