I was in a job a few years ago and there was an issue with the heating. It gets really hot in the office, 26 degrees in winter which is really drying and I was going home with head aches. Raised this with managers who didn't do anything and than health and safety guy. I should be this ill from working in an office.

He said he would follow it up and agreed it was hot. The operations manager contacted the office manager to see how the temp was in the office - to which it was said I was wearing a coat (there are two people with the same name in the office but she shortens her name). The director of HR was CC and anyway I got a job with a £5k pay increase a few weeks later as it got way out of hand.

Anyway I was surfing Facebook and the office manager has made a comment about it on her facebook and tagged my manager and the person who sits next to me. The comment was brief along the lines of "what do I have to deal with".

Aibu in thinking that's not right?

Why do you care? You don’t work there anymore.

Yes - the OP has made everything really difficult to understand by talking not only in the past tense about some of the things that happened three years ago, but also in the present tense.

eg ... It gets really hot in the office ...

... I was surfing Facebook and the office manager has made a comment about it on her facebook and tagged my manager and the person who sits next to me... "

It makes it sound as if the OP is complaining about something that's just happened, not three years ago.

Recipe for confusion

Careful that you don’t start gatekeeping present tense.

I had to go and get a tissue to wipe the tears from my eyes.

What have I missed?

OP can remember the exact date The Incident ™ occured.

Can people please stop saying gatekeeping as @HagTime is running out of gin.

It shows recently as it's a mutual friend that's tagged in it. Shows mutual friends tagged info

It still wouldn't show as recently if it was posted 3 years ago, maybe you don't know how facebook works.

Nobody is gatekeeping FFS.

You posted on AIBU?
People said you are unreasonable, if you think people saying you are being unreasonable is gatekeeping the WHY ASK?

Thanks for the explanation/glossary @Manxexile I thought it was just me who was baffled by the post.
Don't suppose you can explain the whole 'gatekeeping' relevance too can you? Has it got something to do with gaslighting? 😅

GreatGardenstuff · 27/12/2024 20:12

If I’ve understood this right, you want to know if you’re unreasonable to be upset about a comment on Facebook posted by an ex-colleague, 3 years ago, that may or may not be about you, because you’re not mentioned by name?

Heavens. This has really escalated in my absence.

Are we going to make it a day of national remembrance?

fridaynight1 · 27/12/2024 20:12

This is all very confusing. Why where you wearing a coat if you were too hot?

Ifyouwannabemylover · 27/12/2024 20:13

Haven’t a clue what you’re talking about

Top tier question, thank you. Stand by.....

Scandicc · 27/12/2024 20:14

Imagine being the poor fucker that had a coat on all this time

TruffleShuffles · 27/12/2024 20:14

I’m struggling to believe something as trivial as the office climate would warrant a post on Facebook by someone who must be pretty inactive if you only had to scroll down a couple of posts to find something from 3 years ago.

😂

SEE WHAT YOU'VE DONE, OP??

GravyBoatWars · 27/12/2024 20:14

Bonus layer to this entertainment: thinking about how completely bonkers OP’s “raising the issue” must have been that multiple coworkers were talking about it on their personal facebooks and that OP’s manager at the time felt she needed a day of work to catch up because of it all. I’m guessing it was top-tier crazy coworker stuff based on the communication style we’ve gotten here.

Of course the other possibility is that OP has just assumed these extremely vague comments are about her because there couldn’t possibly have been anything else happening in these two people’s lives that week.

EineReiseDurchDieZeit · 27/12/2024 20:15

Someone else had their coat on whilst OP was boiling

Wasn’t it a case of mistaken identity? Or have I (too) misunderstood the story

blueshoes · 27/12/2024 20:15

HollyKnight · 27/12/2024 19:42

You don't know that it was about you. I'm sure your manager had more than just that going on. Plus she thought the complaint was by the other person (with the coat), so if she had been talking about that incident, it would have been the other person she was thinking about.

You've got a point there.

This is the most exciting post iv seen since the penis bedside watercup post of 2023. I have no idea what’s going on and replying to the OP is like poking a tiger.

Certainly the weirdest since Keyansier's day.

Tbf, this OP is significantly less irritating.

There's nothing trivial about office climate. Some of the biggest dramas in my office have centred around the aircon temperature!

You need to keep better diary records à la OP because the fabled Penis Beaker was (prepare to feel old) 2013!

You asked for opinions - mine is YABU

I couldn't a toss what someone wrote about me a few years ago. Let it go or don't but no point asking AIBU then being prickly to people who are giving their opinions, just because you disagree with them
