I was in a job a few years ago and there was an issue with the heating. It gets really hot in the office, 26 degrees in winter which is really drying and I was going home with head aches. Raised this with managers who didn't do anything and than health and safety guy. I should be this ill from working in an office.

He said he would follow it up and agreed it was hot. The operations manager contacted the office manager to see how the temp was in the office - to which it was said I was wearing a coat (there are two people with the same name in the office but she shortens her name). The director of HR was CC and anyway I got a job with a £5k pay increase a few weeks later as it got way out of hand.

Anyway I was surfing Facebook and the office manager has made a comment about it on her facebook and tagged my manager and the person who sits next to me. The comment was brief along the lines of "what do I have to deal with".

Aibu in thinking that's not right?

OP posts:

And a baptism!!!

Ah yes.
I noted the baptism when the OP flung it into the mix, just to confuse things further IMO.

Can I just check as it isn't clear - this is about a fb post made 3 years ago by someone you worked with at the time, and although it happened at the same time you made a complaint about the heating it does not name you at all and is sufficiently vague it could be about anything? And you have just found this post today as the person came up as a friend suggestion- but either this person or another person is someone you consider a friend? And you have since moved to a better paying job?

PrincessOfPreschool · 27/12/2024 21:19

Lloyd-Webber sent me his first draft:

I drank some wine, went Facebook stalking
To see for certain, what I thought I knew
Far, far away, someone was gate-keeping
But, the world was sleeping
Any OP will do

She wore her coat (she wore her coat), as she was freezing (ah-ah-ah)
Whilst I was boiling (ah-ah), with a bad headache
And in the office (and in the office), the war was waging (ah-ah-ah)
The manager was quaking (ah-ah)
Any OP will do

A crash of drums, a flash of light
My sanity, flew out of sight
The colors faded into darkness
I was left alone

May I return (may I return), to the beginning (ah-ah-ah)
The light is dimming (ah-ah) and the post is too
Mumsnet and I (Mumsnet and I), we are still waiting (ah-ah-ah)
Still hesitating (ah-ah)
OP please come back

The OP isn't going to come back I don't think but this is my understanding of it, yes

Excellent - this thread really needs to go to Classics now

I'm going to nominate it.

VerityUnreasonble · 27/12/2024 21:43

I've tried to summarise:

In the office it was hot
A coat was worn; by OP not!
A woman with a similar name
Alas, poor bint, she got the blame
For OPs repeat complaint
So hot she feared that she would faint

Confusion reigns, the email flows
OP now to a new job goes
Back in the office of firey heat
A manager collapses in their seat
Contemplates, her week did suck
And posts on Facebook, WTF 🙄

Years pass, maybe three
We return to the OP
With ex manager she gets on OK
In a Christmas card acquaintance way
Not friends on the 'book
But OP thinks she'll have a look

Here's the risk, you look, you'll see
"that WTF was meant for me!"
No matter this was years ago
There are toys out of prams to throw
The evidence is plainly posted
Written the day OP was toasted

Top tier question, thank you. Stand by.....

we need to know - did you have a thermal vest underneath our clothing that we don't know about.

fuzzychic · 27/12/2024 21:59

Take your coat off if you're too hot?

labamba007 · 27/12/2024 22:34

It's pissed you off, fine. What exactly do you want to happen?

wholettheturnipsburn · 27/12/2024 22:47

I can tear myself away from this thread

It's the gift that keeps on giving

blueshoes · 27/12/2024 22:50

@VerityUnreasonble that is excellent. You should be a lyricist.

Please make an appearance in every other post, this is great 😭

Take your coat off if you're too hot?

...but the coat is/was a red herring, keep up at the back!

chocolatespreadsandwich · 28/12/2024 00:43

I find it fascinating that op has such an uneventful life/detailed memory that she can remember the precise day three years ago that she made a fuss about the office being slightly the wrong temperature for her (but not for coat wearing lady with the same name)

I can't even remember what I had for lunch today

Superb.

MNHQ will only put this thread into Classics if it gets lots of nominations.

EmmaSmiff · 28/12/2024 19:43

Wonder if the op has sobered up yet?

It's just typical of MN users. Either leave your husband as he is breathing or gatekeep what people should care about. No care or compassion

@Caravaggiouch laughed at my “rude and unnecessary” comment.
Middle school syndrome I’m guessing, or a failure to recognize shame.
I agree with you either way.
She’ll laugh at this, too, I reckon, thinking she’s clever.

Only laughed as there isn’t an eye roll reaction.

I just laughed at it too. Save you the bother of tagging me.

Teanbiscuits33 · 28/12/2024 22:15

Why are you hanging on to something so trivial that happened years ago somewhere you don’t even work anymore? Do you have much going on in your life at the moment, OP?

It’s one thing to ponder things from the past sometimes, but it’s another to give something so inane enough head space to write an MN thread several years later.
