Comment on Facebook by Office Manager

I was in a job a few years ago and there was an issue with the heating. It gets really hot in the office, 26 degrees in winter which is really drying and I was going home with head aches. Raised this with managers who didn't do anything and than health and safety guy. I should be this ill from working in an office.

He said he would follow it up and agreed it was hot. The operations manager contacted the office manager to see how the temp was in the office - to which it was said I was wearing a coat (there are two people with the same name in the office but she shortens her name). The director of HR was CC and anyway I got a job with a £5k pay increase a few weeks later as it got way out of hand.

Anyway I was surfing Facebook and the office manager has made a comment about it on her facebook and tagged my manager and the person who sits next to me. The comment was brief along the lines of "what do I have to deal with".

Aibu in thinking that's not right?

I’m confused… they wrote ‘what do I have to deal with? Why is that bad? How is that offensive? How do you know it was referencing you and your heating complaints? This was a non-starter 3 years ago. Now it’s so incredibly insignificant.

Your post is pretty hard to understand

Did they make the comment recently, or back when it happened? Is it clear it is about you? An office manager deals with this kind of stuff continuously

This was 3 years ago?

Why on earth would the office manager post about something that is 3 years old, unless you are scrolling her posts to 3 years' back.

If it is the latter, Let It Go.

I am not entirely sure I understand your post.

"it was said" - who said?
Are you saying the person who was wearing a coat was not you, just someone with a shortened name that is the same as yours?
Was the office manager/operations manager confused which member of staff made the complaint about the temperature? Why would they? Is this a big company?
CC - what does that mean? Why is the director of HR relevant here?
You are no longer at the company, does it really matter?
What exactly did the office manager's facebook say that she has to deal with?

It matters to me, and that's all the reason I have to give on here.

So 40% of the staff work in the office and rest remote. Some full weeks, some partial.

Directors and H&S manager is remote. It's all done via email.

We have the same name but she uses the shortened. Eg steph and Stephanie etc.

Because it's on social media?

So, was this post a few years back and you have trawled back and found it, it was it now and they have randomly brought up you complaining about the heat years ago? Either way, weird.

I can't imagine it was a big thing to anyone at the time tbh.

Pandasnacks · 27/12/2024 19:04

So it happened years ago, you’ve now left, but just stalked her Facebook for years backwards? You don’t even no it’s about you but yeah your behaviour is weird.

Given the lack of clarity and the tone of your engagement on this thread, I am not hugely surprised that your colleagues/former colleagues were moaning about you behind your back

Trawling back into the depths of someone's social media is odd behaviour if you know them, let alone if they are an ex colleague

I wasn't on Facebook a few years ago. And I checked out her profile as it came up as a suggestion.

People choice to have profile open or closed.... Remember that

But yeah I'm weird lol

When did they put it on Facebook? In your OP it sounds like they posted it today.

It's not the depths. It's down a few posts and I would have seen it anyway as those other two people are my FB friends now.

I guess you are one of those who think that people can do whatever they want and not be held for their shity behaviour.

So you’re stalking a colleague from several years ago’s Facebook back long enough to see this. She hasn’t named you. You don’t work there anymore. There’s nothing to be gained from this. Clearly YABU & need to move on.

I can see from your posts that you’re getting chippy with anyone who thinks YABU, so what’s the point in this thread?

You haven't answered any of my questions. I suppose if I thought hard enough to join the dots it might make sense.

I am sure it is important to you but I don't think you are clear enough about what actually happened to bring people along with you to share the outrage.

People - why are you so bothered. You are so weird. I'm going to gatekeep what you can post.

Yes! You are! Stop trawling through old posts and obsessing over them.

I can see why it's pissed you off but it's ancient history now surely and you were doing a lot of digging to even find it

Your post is unclear and I'm responding to what I think I've understood

Jackiepumpkinhead · 27/12/2024 19:08

Probably one of the weirdest posts I’ve ever read.

Pippa12 · 27/12/2024 19:09

Sorry I’m trying to make sense of this. So did you Facebook stalk her recently and scrolled back to the time all this was happening to see what she was writing posting at the time and noted this comment?

I would have been cross at the time, if I still worked there. Perhaps it was about something else?

Personslly now id just move on?

No I wasn't doing a lot of "digging" you clearly have no idea how Facebook works

You wouldn't have seen it unless you were looking; FB doesn't show posts several years old in your timeline just because a friend is tagged in them. A few days, maybe, not years.

"Facebook stalk" you mean someone has an open profile on the internet that anyone can look at, and when someone looks at it, it's stalking?

I think most people stopped using Facebook quite a few years ago. It’s had it’s time.
