XL bully shot

Local XL bully shot today. The owner is saying on social media that the dog was harmless but I've seen it go for a a small child before. Why are these dogs 'harmless" until they injure or kill

They never use a photograph of the actual dog. It’s frustrating. Allows all sorts of misconceptions about what they look like.

I am a very devoted dog lover but there is literally zero point to these dogs, they are all fucked in the head. And a massive danger to everyone around them. The "ban" was so soft it hasn't changed anything because the sort of people who own them don't believe the law applies to them anyway.

How could the owner be saying it's harmless if it bit someone and had to be shot by armed police??!! Honestly, some people are ridiculous.

Literally round the corner from me if it's the same one. Beggars belief that even after it's bitten someone owner is still claiming it did nothing wrong and is a big softy!

I've met tiny terriers that have scared me more than most of the XL bullies I've met.

It's not the breed it's the owners. XLBs are popular with roadmen for defensive purposes.

Not an XL, but the best dogs I've ever met were staffies.

That’s not actually true though is it? It IS the breed. Yes, some owners can make dogs dangerous, but XL Bullies are bred to be aggressive and attack.

I went to a local park last week an xl bully off its lead running about with no lead/muzzle on. Owners couldn't care less that they are breaking the law.
I had my 2 dogs with me at the time and had to abandon the walk and go quickly to the car. It is so frightening coming across these dogs. They can flip at the flick of a switch like having a lion on the loose so unpredictable.
Also the amount of dogs I see that are so uncontrollable when on walks and on social media in my area.

I feel for the officer that had to take it out. No firearms officer I have met wants to take a life, animal or human, even though they are trained to do so and know that it's necessary.

A terrier couldn't kill you if it tried. People just shouldn't be allowed to keep pets that can easily kill a grown adult, everything else is immaterial.

It's absolutely the breed. Anyone who thinks otherwise is ignorant and naive.

Anyone who owns one of these monsters should be imprisoned and the dogs immediately destroyed.
