Dh making us drive in red warning

BlueFoxel · 06/12/2024 21:00

It just so happens dh and I have been on the Welsh coast for the past few days enjoying a mini break before our wedding. Was sent the emergency alarm earlier today. We are due to set off tomorrow morning in the middle of the red warning for wind. I have shared my concerns with dh but he really does not care at all. Dh thinks I am dramatic at the best of times and has totally dismissed my fears. He has a football game he is wanting to drive back home for. He is very arrogant

I am really bloody stressed out.

Please tell me I am being crazy and everything will be fine.

Well he's a prick you are better off without, my dear

AccidentalTourism · 06/12/2024 22:22

I'm in the Red zone, the local weather reporter this evening said anyone driving on the motorway in the Red zone will be risking their lives.

There are 50+ mph gusts expected over most of southern England.

Wales and the SW up to 90mph .

Sure but that leaves the east, south east and the north etc.

Devilcat · 06/12/2024 22:23

Well there’s your answer right there. I’d say good luck but as a veteran stop it’s not even more shiny it gets worse

Do you have to come back over the Severn bridge? that will probably be closed.

Yes, we do. We the plan is to set off at 8:30 in the morning.

The event we came to Wales for was this afternoon. I did suggest leaving earlier but it fell on deaf ears.

Why didnt you leave alone?

Why are you allowing him this power over you?

Why are you accepting, and marrying, such a selfish person?

Forget the weather, this guy has his own Red Warning all over him.

MissLeToe · 06/12/2024 22:25

Is this man your husband?

You're calling him your DH but you say you went away before your wedding.
Have you been married in Wales?

eurochick · 06/12/2024 22:27

@IkeaJesusChrist almost the entire country is under at least a yellow warning - see the map here:

apple.news/AYjVi6asmT2eTJTpIqHoHCA

We are in the south east and winds about 50mph are predicted here. It was gusty for about half an hour last night and there was a tree blocking the road on the school run this morning.

Devilcat · 06/12/2024 22:27

Enjoy it he won’t give a shit in a few months your panicking because he doesn’t give a fuck and he really doesn’t and you do think about that. And think hard 👍

IkeaJesusChrist · 06/12/2024 22:22

Sure but that leaves the east, south east and the north etc.

South east England is in the south.

Take a look at the Met Office site.

Winds up to almost 60mph as far north as York .....

Skyrainlight · 06/12/2024 22:28

Is it your car or his? If it's yours keep the keys and he can find his own way home. If it's his and he won't budge try to work out a way to stay another day and get home another way. Repeat - do not marry this shithead.

Sorry no, “dh” is my fiance but we have been together for 10+ years so I often refer to him as my hubby

I can't imagine the Severn Bridge will be open tomorrow morning.

So he's not your husband .

That's something at least.

This won't get any better, you know.

Devilcat · 06/12/2024 22:29

Leave him

Winemeup · 06/12/2024 22:29

Any insurance you have such as travel or car will be null and void if something happens and you need to claim. More morbidly, if either of you have life insurance and the worst was to happen, the insurer would likely look to deny any claim.

ChristmasEveNotChristmasSteve · 06/12/2024 22:30

Tortielady · 06/12/2024 21:39

Notwithstanding that York is only in a yellow warning area, the Christmas market is off tomorrow because of Darragh and it's unclear that it will go ahead on Sunday. Of course, York floods very easily, but the warnings are for wind. In theory, Yorkshire and the NE of England are miles away from serious trouble, but that doesn't mean we won't get any and people aren't taking unnecessary risks. Why would your DH insist on risking you and himself for a football match? Does he think that bad things only happen to other people?

That's because wind is a pain in the arse for stallholders!

Jabtastic · 06/12/2024 22:31

Don't marry this man. Take it as a sign from the universe or whatever God you believe in.

Dh is just so weird with authority or being told what to do. I said earlier let’s make sure we have our mobiles fully charged and he told me to I was being ott.

His misplaced arrogance is horrendous.

you are nuts if you get in a car at that time.

Why are you marrying him?

Seriously, there are red flags all over this relationship.

He's not 'weird' - he's selfish and downright stupid.

Noseybookworm · 06/12/2024 22:33

I would assume that the bridge will be closed. Red alert is only until 11am, can't you just set off after that? The chances of something bad happening are probably small but there is a risk of falling trees/branches/flying debris.

Why are you tolerating it, though? Why not just say ‘no, I’m not doing it’? Why does he have the authority to decide for you?

Devilcat · 06/12/2024 22:34

You’re not married yet. I swear to god get rid don’t marry him I’m going through hell don’t you marry him he’s not for you at all x
