Dh making us drive in red warning

BlueFoxel · 06/12/2024 21:00

It just so happens dh and I have been on the Welsh coast for the past few days enjoying a mini break before our wedding. Was sent the emergency alarm earlier today. We are due to set off tomorrow morning in the middle of the red warning for wind. I have shared my concerns with dh but he really does not care at all. Dh thinks I am dramatic at the best of times and has totally dismissed my fears. He has a football game he is wanting to drive back home for. He is very arrogant

I am really bloody stressed out.

Please tell me I am being crazy and everything will be fine.

The red warning is only until about 11 am-noon tomorrow, leave after that. Believe me the whole of the Welsh coast will not be staying indoors all day tomorrow

No there will be plenty of other idiots who think they know better. And unfortunately people will probably have to go out and rescue some of them,

LovelyDaaling · 06/12/2024 21:50

The Severn bridges might be closed tomorrow

Nc546888 · 06/12/2024 21:51

My husband has stupid ideas like this sometimes and in your shoes I would say go ahead you can leave but I’m staying put until I feel safe to travel. And then book a hotel and a train back at a later date

Coldiron · 06/12/2024 21:52

The red warning for wind is just for a few hours but the red warning for your future marriage is permanent

mum11970 · 06/12/2024 21:53

Gees calm down and just wait and see what it’s like tomorrow

WoolyMammoth55 · 06/12/2024 21:53

Have to say I think this is partly on you OP. We're in the middle of the red zone and it was clear at 9am this morning what was coming. DH was planning to go to London for work tomorrow so got himself organised and drove up today instead, to avoid having to go through the middle of it.

Why didn't you do that? You are and were fine up until 3am tomorrow morning - after that time you'd both be idiots to get in the car.

CompletelyALoan · 06/12/2024 21:55

Don't drive in a red alert. Only a numpty would

Daschund · 06/12/2024 21:58

My DH would have no choice, we'd have left today.

Sparklfairy · 06/12/2024 21:59

Surely he's the dramatic one insisting on driving in a red warning for a fucking football game?

mum11970 · 06/12/2024 21:59

They’ll be plenty of people with things they need to do. High winds aren’t unusual here. There will be a few hours up to around midday when they are expected to be extremely high, but 50-60 mph gusts are pretty common on the coast. Just wait and see what it’s like tomorrow.

If he insists, let him go, and you stay.

Why are you marrying someone who is dismissive of your legitimate fears and is arrogant?

This is who he is. he won't change

Finetoday · 06/12/2024 22:02

Just pack up and leave now.

He sounds like a tool. Reconsider your long term plans.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 06/12/2024 22:02

You don't 'have'to do anything. You can't be '" made to". He isn't your parent or boss, or the police.

jannier · 06/12/2024 22:09

Why are you marrying him?

Skyrainlight · 06/12/2024 22:13

Don't marry him. He prioritises a football game above your safety. HUGE red flag. Take his behaviour as the warning it is.

TheDowagerCountessofPembroke · 06/12/2024 22:13

Nope. I’d be staying put where I was or checking into a nearby Travelodge etc.

They don’t issue warnings like this for fun. I’m in the east and we have flood warnings in place.

PyongyangKipperbang · 06/12/2024 22:15

You are frightened and worried.

He has dimissed your fears and concerns because ....football.

You describe him as arrogant.

Why are you marrying him?

BlueFoxel · 06/12/2024 22:17

TiramisuThief · 06/12/2024 21:02

Why didn't you leave early when the red warning was issued this morning?

Given that, you are right and shouldn't drive.

The event we came to Wales for was this afternoon. I did suggest leaving earlier but it fell on deaf ears.

Errr...have you heard of this thing called a weather forecast?

And a red warning?

Come out from under the rock.

You'd be a fool to travel.

Book another night in a cheap hotel- Prem Inn etc.

You'd also be a fool to marry him.

NeverDropYourMooncup · 06/12/2024 21:02

His match might have been cancelled already.

Depends where it is, not everywhere is under a red warning or even a warning.

ThatTealViewer · 06/12/2024 22:20

You know you can say ‘no’, right? He’s not your boss.

StiffyByngsDogBartholomew · 06/12/2024 22:20

Unless he's David Beckham about to captain England in the World Cup final and the only way to get there is to drive through this weather warning he is being ridiculous risking your lives for a football game.

i would be seriously reevaluating my relationship

IkeaJesusChrist · 06/12/2024 22:20

Depends where it is, not everywhere is under a red warning or even a warning.

There are 50+ mph gusts expected over most of southern England.

Wales and the SW up to 90mph .
