I'm a celebrity

I've watched a bit of it over the years.

I was watching a couple of this year's episodes, and I just thought that the trials have gotten so much worse.

Yesterday they had Oti mabuse, one of the contestants, stand in a sarcophagus. They poured sand into it, up to her neck, so her whole body was covered in sand, and she couldn't move at all.

She had a tiny head space for air. Then they filled that head space with giant cockraches, ants and large worms.

I was watching it and thinking,

"When did watching people being completely tortured on TV become acceptable."

Is it not going too far?

Did you think that there's only people from the UK on mumsnet?

How weird!

There are people from all over the world on here.

But why do you think I'm a celebrity is acceptable?

They've had people eat live bugs.

They've had a 70 year old , Caitlin Jenner, covered in rats and cockroaches.

It's awful

Step away from I’m a Celebrity is my advice. Stick to Deal or No Deal, that’s probably less stressful for you.

Your mask has slipped 'love.' 😂

It’s not fun but no one is getting hurt. We chat at work about which trials we could do and which we’d struggle with. Loads of them these days talk about how it’s made their bravery stronger by tackling things they never thought they could do. Aside from the bumper payday obv.

Yeah the point is not about the fees though.

It's that torture for entertainment should not be allowed.

What next, choose which contestant to kill, like the Hunger games.

It's really not torture. I know someone who was granted asylum in the UK and what they experienced was torture.

To describe 10 minutes of discomfort, that you can bring to an end at any time you wish, with medics on hand, as torture, is actually quite offensive.

Ursulla · 04/12/2024 22:47

It's not torture! They're not chained to a radiator in Iraq facing death. They're on the bloody itv with ant and Dec.

Theyre not having a chat with ant and dec are they.

One of them had a cockroach inside her ear. A medic had to come and get it out.

😆

Sounds like the OP should stay away from TV full stop. Probably finds the adverts traumatic too!

Switcher · 04/12/2024 22:51

I've never watched it.

Ursulla · 04/12/2024 22:51

Step away from the telly OP. And the internet.

No good can come of this.

They are scaring people for entertainment.

How would you describe what they are doing to the contestants?

It is torture and many of the viewers are children.

That’s called parenting and being responsible for what you think is acceptable for your child to watch.

Upholding their end of the contract.
