gives you the ick?

It seems very popular on Mumsnet. Do you stay in the ones you slept in or shower and put on fresh ones?

No, I wouldn’t want to spend the day feeling slobby. But each to their own. 👍

Why would wearing new silk pyjamas make you feel slobby? Makes me feel glamorous.

Needmorelego · 25/11/2024 17:01

@Parker231 they just don't understand it do they? So many people on this thread seem to think pyjamas = Waynetta Slob.
But I am picturing your Christmas to look something like this 😁

Wouldn't wear pyjamas on Christmas day as would like to go for a walk and my dressing gown would draggle into the food preparations

ObtuseMoose · 25/11/2024 17:35

What are people doing with their PJs that make them feel grubby, ill, slobby, icky, like they're on their deathbed, slovenly, smelly, and dirty? Do you not wash your bedding? Are you sleeping on filthy sheets, and your PJs are picking up the detritus?
Why are you associating clean pyjamas with dirt?

@LuckySantangelo35 I am assuming when people say "drink" they are meaning alcohol.
Alcohol at 9am is not exactly a good thing is it?

As a couple of times a year things it’s not exactly bad either.

I mean I have a Prosecco at the airport even if my flight at 6am - that’s my holiday starting not a slippery slope into alcoholism

Mel2023 · 25/11/2024 21:16

I’d find that odd, but that’s just because my family always for dresses up nice for Christmas Day and I think everyone does their own family tradition. We open presents first thing in our PJs, yes, but then once we’ve had a cuppa we all go and get dressed. Even a nice Christmas jumper. Sometimes I’ll do a nice dress. And I do my hair and put make up on. DH’s family are the opposite and when I met him he found it so strange we were up in the morning opening pressies and then got dressed nicely. His family lie in till lunch time and sit in joggers/pjs all day on the couch watching TV.

ItCantHurtYou · 25/11/2024 21:25

I sometimes wear pyjamas all day, more likely loungewear which can double up as pyjamas, so I can take the dogs out in them. I’ve wore pyjamas on Xmas day before and don’t see a problem. We’re going out for dinner on Xmas day this year so I’ll be wearing jeans and a nice top.

@Parker231

im not happy to wear pyjamas all day on Christmas Day, just wouldn’t feel right to me but more than happy to have a glass of Buck’s Fizz with my breakfast on Christmas Day 🤷‍♀️ everyone’s different ! 😀

Lol at you saying everyone’s different. You are not exactly known on mumsnet for accepting other peoples ways of doing things. 😂

I would freeze wearing those on a winter day but fine in bed under 13 5 togs with a hot water bottle.

No you wouldn't 🙄🙄🙄 they're thick cotton.

We do dress nice, including doing my hair - but in new pyjamas and not a dress. Don’t think I’d find a dress very practical for playing games.

Would love to look that elegant - love those shoes! I start the day with my hair relatively tidy in a messy bun but after a couple of games of Twister it’s all over the place!

Needmorelego · 26/11/2024 10:03

@Parker231 I just found that picture on Google. No idea if it's a famous actress or model or anything.
In my imagination she was just a regular gal who shocked and horrified her parents and grandparents by turning up to Christmas wearing that.
Granny had to be bought out of her faint with smelling salts. Father muttered something about "she'll never get a husband". Cousin Gerald turned very red and had to excuse himself.

But pjs on one day a year is the height of all the name calling on this thread?

Funny how people will defend drinking alcohol in the morning over wearing pyjamas. I imagine all those who start the day drinking are asleep pissed on the settee by 2pm not joining in with anything personally or just being generally annoying.

I’m not the one to call out on that because I’ve said several times I don’t see an issue with staying in pjs all day I’ve don’t it, most of my friends do it now and again - I genuinely don’t care what anyone else wears in their own home

@gamerchick i don’t fall asleep and not join in with stuff if I've been day drinking, quite the opposite. And I don’t care if others wear pyjamas on Christmas Day, it’s not for me and that’s my prerogative!

I'd absolutely defend drinking in the morning. Same as eating chocolate all day, eating 8,000 calories at a sitting for lunch and having an actual 6ft tree in the front room... Point being it's a unique day.

Pyjamas are worn every night . Sold all year round.

I mean if we were forced to wear Victorian corsets, bustles and layers all year, a pair of pyjamas might well be seen as a Christmas special.

StepawayfromtheLindors · 26/11/2024 22:30

Is @gamerchick still banging on about this? 🥱

The pyjamas I’ll be wearing on Christmas Day definitely won’t be worn in bed., They’re much too special for that.

Parker231 · 28/11/2024 09:20

Flew back home yesterday - new pyjamas I ordered have arrived. They are gorgeous and can’t wait to be wearing them on Christmas Day.
