oh god laura @Imbluedalale im in tears both you speaking out and that gentlemans story, sending you love and hugs x

Nottogetapenny · 02/12/2024 18:59

So pleased your appointment went well, you deserve a huge break!
What a lovely person you meet today, what a gentleman! It made me have a little cry, some people go through so much and still are super nice and help others.
But it’s the vibes you now give off, to make people warm to you, and you to them.

Not everyone is like that bastard of a husband you put up with.(I love the song you made up)

I had butter chicken for dinner tonight, it’s my favourite Indian dish as don’t like super spicy food, but I buy a ready kit The Spice Taylor kit I only have to add chicken it’s really good. So served it with a small naan bread and a little bit of rice. Yummy. 😘🌺

Something to make all spoonies smile. 😘🥄

Good luck with the appointment Laura. It's the dentist for my husband this morning and then he's going to help me get out of bed for a bit. I'm going to make a start on decorating the front cover of a diary. My mum always asks for me to make her a decorated diary for her Christmas present. This year I am trying out some acrylic paint pens.

Hi @BeNavyCrab , how’s your day been? Hope hubby is ok after the dentist. Did you start decorating your diary? What a lovely present that would make I bet your mum loves them. It’s so therapeutic crafting isn’t it xx

Afternoon ladies ( are we all ladies? I think we are)

Took baby grandchild to soft play this morning. She’s asleep so I’m having a lie down on the sofa.

Thinking of your appointment, Laura.

Hi @Apolloneuro , how are you today? Awww I bet you love having your grandchild especially since you missed it last week.
How are you feeling in yourself now?xx

@Imbluedalale that man's story has made me cry!, there are truly angels in this world.
I'm so glad things seem to have been ok today, roll on Mon, hopefully the bit they have to take won't be nearly so big as last time - although your scar is actually really neat xx

Did the tv and Internet get sorted?
Is your daughter with you tonight or is she working?

We had liver and onion gravy tonight for tea, it was yummy

I'm glad Elf on the shelf wasn't a thing when my kids were little. Party bags used to give me sleepless nights!!

I hope all the other lovely Spoonies have had good days, whatever you may have been doing and wherever you are ❤

So Spoonies.
I am not in the bowels of hell but I had a root canal Friday on the top right of my mouth and now have an ear infection on the same side.
And then the man that I live (he’s usually my other half but I’m not in the mood) has just asked me….
Why isn’t the Christmas tree up yet?!!
This is a man who will go to town on Christmas Eve and will then ring me up and ask me what he’s doing there.
I currently look like one of Alvin’s chipmunks, I am
also menopausal and I have the rage.
Sending lots of healing vibes to our @Imbluedalale today and I love the Spoonies Carol!
I’d add another verse but it would be full of questionable language!

Edited

Hi @PeggyMitchellsCameo , awww sending you the biggest hug lovely. Tooth pain and ear pain are awful but together ? Ouch . You poor thing.
Sorry but ‘man that you live’ made me howl 🤣🤣🤣😂
And I must see this extra verse 🤣🤣🤣
Sending you a big hug xxx

Oh that's a wonderful story - well I know it's true, not a story but you know what I mean. Being in hospital and having treatment etc - they're great levellers aren't they? They make you see and understand what is truly important.

It’s lovely isn’t it @kittylion2 , it was really humbling. And he was so lovely towards his wife he said he can’t grumble at what life throws at him because he has a beautiful wife and she makes him be thankful for every day.
There’s was lots of laughs and tears. It made my day tbh if not week. He was a very special man xx

Thank you lovely. He was definitely a gentleman with the kindest eyes I’ve ever seen. He was telling me all about his life and that his ex wife used to hurt him and belittle him until one day he said ‘I’ve had enough’ and walked away. But he said he wouldn’t change a thing because it led him to his beautiful wife 🥹🥹🥹🥹xx

Hi @Nottogetapenny , how are you this evening?
My daughter has just made us pasta and garlic bread and she’s had a long bath. So we both relaxing now.
Sometimes in life I think you meet people that have a profound impact on you and he was definitely one of them. He didn’t grumble or moan , was thankful to still be here, was so grateful for these new drugs they are giving him and was just a lovely kind person.
Ohhh that kit sounds lovely , where do you get them from? At the garden centre yesterday they had a slice section and they had ‘curry crackers’ so basically a slice mix and recipe in a cracker they was so cute . I’m so pleased you had a lovely yummy dinner xx

Thank you so much , I’m not going to worry about Monday I’ve been through worse things and I’ll get through it . Being positive makes such a difference to my life.

I’m fine, busy day tomorrow I’m looking after my little grandson. He goes to nursery on an afternoon and they have a stay and play! So granny is going to play, I’m really looking forward to seeing him at nursery with his little friends.

The curry kits The Spice Taylor, can be bought in most of the big supermarkets, it’s the sauce and spices, so easy to use. Their are loads of different flavours!

Yes, you are right you can meet someone, a stranger, who has an enormous impact and they make such an impression you will remember them. It doesn’t happen often, but when it does it’s so special.

Enjoy your night with your daughter, it’s just lovely she’s there with you. 😘🌺

ChoccieCornflake · 02/12/2024 22:16

Oh my word @Imbluedalale , your encounter with that lovely man in the hospital!! And he and his wife will be telling people about the lovely lady they met in hospital too. You are both AWESOME!

@PeggyMitchellsCameo - OW!! I hope you are feeling in less pain now. It sounds agonising!

Today's perfume is Watermelon. Weirdly they list three main components, none of which are watermelon (and none of which I can remember and I am certainly too lazy to get off the sofa to check!) but the combined effect is watermelon. Sadly the other effect appears to be that it makes me sneeze and snuffle, so I currently smell like a rather nice tropical salad, but sound like a truffle-hunting hog. Can't imagine why the major perfume houses haven't snapped me up for their adverts!

nornironlady · 03/12/2024 09:48

Good morning to all the Spoonies!
@Imbluedalale loved hearing your news yesterday. What stood out for me was you saying all those lovely things about that man, his qualities etc. These are the very same things we see in you Laura. Your warmth and positivity always shine through in your posts.
I'm in office now and there's about a hundred letters that need to be issued. As in put into envelopes....old style! That should take me to noon nicely then it's out with the team for lunch.

Oof that's not good news, be careful that it's not caused by an infection in the bone from your tooth. My husband had to have a tooth removed and the little infection decided to go rampant. He needed to go back to the dentist for antibiotics.

I really hope you start to get better soon. I can imagine the sort of reception "that bloke" got. As my mum would say, he's lucky he didn't find that tree somewhere where the sun doesn't shine 😂😂

Imbluedalale · 02/12/2024 17:59

Hi @RaspberryBeretxx , it’s lovely to hear from you. Does DPs mean ‘dear parents’? If so I hope you had a lovely time. Oh I love a good trip to b&m always come out with loads of random stuff. Heated throw sounds lovely and hot choc maker.
When I was at garden centre yesterday they had some hot chocolate bombs which you put inside warm milk and when they melt there’s loads of mini marshmallows inside.
I’m loving the magnetic tie backs they are so handy I’m going to get some for my other rooms when I get round to it.
The sofa is amazing, I love it. Takes me 10 mins to sit down on it though as have to remove 1000 cushions first but once your sat down it’s bliss.
You’re all making me feel so much better about my scars , thank you. 🙏
I had my oncologist appointment today and as I was trying to sit down a man on the seat next to me asked if I needed any help. We got talking and he was with his wife. They was absolutely lovely people. Anyway we really shared our history it was so strange like we’d known each other for ages. He has got cancer which has spread to his brain and has hundreds of tumours in his body . He too became paralysed from treatment for 9 months and his foot was paralysed and he went blind for months and now he’s on tablet medication which he takes 15 a day. He said they have helped shrink the big tumour in his brain by loads . He was so positive and had such a lovely outlook on life. Anyway he asked to hear my story and I told him what’s happened this year inc everything with ex and where I’m at now and when I looked up to he was rubbing tears from his face. Oh my heart 🥹
I was telling them all about you spoonies and how you all have helped me so much and saved me and helped change my outlook on life. He said he found the people he didn’t think he was that close to helped him more than the people who he thought would be there and that resonated with me so much . He was telling me that during his treatment he was allowed to leave the hospital for an hour so they went to a cafe up the road and there was a queue . He got talking to the guy in front of him and was saying how nice the mince pies looked and said ‘I shouldn’t really be having one of them’ because of the weight he had out on with steroids . And the guy in front asked why so he told him. Anyway when he got to the front of the queue and ordered mince pies and drinks the lady said it had all been paid for and also gave him an envelope . Inside the envelope was a note and it said ‘thank you for humbling me today , I was having a bad day because of little stresses but you have made me realise what’s important and what’s not, please take this gift and for one day don’t worry about what you should and shouldn’t be eating and just enjoy your day with your wife and go out for a nice meal when your feeling well enough’ and he’d put £100 in the envelope 🥹🥹🥹🥹. The guy said he broke down there and then in this cafe.
We had to laugh as we was speaking for about an hour then his wife asked what happens next and he said oh I don’t know . She went to check and they’d all finished for the day and they’d been sitting there 😂😂😂😂. When he said goodbye he asked if he could give me a hug and he hugged me and kissed me on the cheek and said ‘don’t let anybody try and dim your light ever again’ well I had tears rolling down my face in front of everyone.
I’ll never forget that encounter for as long as I live.
My appointment went well , oncologist wants to wait and see what they find on Monday and go from there and then have an MDT meeting to discuss results. Only bad thing about today was they couldn’t find a vein they kept putting the needle in but no blood was coming out so after 3 attempts they went in through my hand and wow that is painful 😣. Hand still feels tender now and she said I’ll have a bad bruise . But all done until next week xx

What an amazing thing to have happen. I've always said that it just takes one special person to make a massive difference when you are going through difficult times.

I definitely sympathise with you having to have blood taken from your hand. I've got the most difficult to find tiny veins and now always have my blood taken from my hand with a paediatric butterfly needles. They might be small but it's not a pleasant experience. I definitely envy my husband who's got veins like a road map. You'd be able to take blood from him with your eyes shut.

RaspberryBeretxx · 03/12/2024 14:48

Awww, that man at the hospital sounds so so lovely @Imbluedalale , that made me cry! He sounds so positive and I'm so glad you have random support and kindness popping up all over the place - people can see what a special person you are just like we all can 💕.

That made me laugh about the TV saying your name. Glad the sofa is so lovely! It made me laugh about all the cushions.

Glad the appointment went well and that sounds positive about the MDT meeting and sorting next steps. Sending all the most positive vibes your way.

Eek and ouch! At having blood taken from your hand. Hope the bruise isn't too bad. Once when pregnant, the midwife took blood and nicked my tendon (that was what the next one thought had happened anyway). The bruise spread all round my arm and elbow and was soooo painful!

Oh and DP stands for "dear partner" - I was at his house over the weekend as he was working some of the time and my DS was with his Dad. DP doesn't have wifi and the signal is rubbish so it's a bit like going back in time 😂. My parents did pop in after I got home yesterday afternoon which was lovely. And I met my DS's new girlfriends Mum as I was unpacking the car, she was walking past with her dog and asked if I was DS's mum. She seemed lovely and we swapped numbers. Back to work today and I had 2 lovely cappuccinos and a nice chat in a nice pub with my boss. I'm now meant to be working from home 🙈.

@PeggyMitchellsCameo how's the ear and tooth feeling today? Hope it's improving, it sounds a horrible combination! Did that man you live with survive the rest of yesterday after asking about the Christmas tree?! Someone asked that on our village FB page on 1st Dec and got a proper roasting from people (in a funny rather than mean way).

@nornironlady Did you get your letters done and how was your lunch? Was it a Christmas celebration lunch or just random?

@spoonfulofmustard 😂😂at you scaling your fence to get in to your flat! At least it was the neighbour who saw you and nobody thought you were breaking and entering 😂.

@Nottogetapenny ooh, thank you for the spice kit recommendation - they sound lovely. Hope you're having a lovely day with your grandson and at his nursery, that's so sweet that they have a stay and play. I wish my DD's nursery did that.

@BeNavyCrab Hope you're OK today. Your decorated diary for your mum is such a lovely idea, I'd love to see a pic when you're done.

Nottogetapenny · 03/12/2024 17:07

Thank you. RaspberryBeretxx
I did have a lovely afternoon, listening to all the little ones singing. Then playing, what a lovely nursery. It’s so nice that they do it.
