Awww your day sounds absolutely wonderful and like the perfect Sunday. I’m so pleased you’ve had a lovely time and sitting in front of a log fire on a Sunday night sounds lovely.
Have you any plans for the week?
Tomorrow I’m seeing my oncologist and then having internet delivered. And tomorrow night sisters partner coming to set tv up. My eldest and his girlfriend might be coming for tea tomorrow. Then Wednesday my mum and dad coming to put my bedroom curtains up and a few pictures and that’s about it for the week xx

Hey Laura, my week will consist of haircut Tuesday, shopping either tomorrow or Wednesday and organising the moving of some excess furniture items. Friday I am seeing a friend I used to work with.
Hope you appointment with Oncologist goes well, I will be thinking of you.
Yay for getting internet installed and TV set up. Curtains and pictures will really finish off your beautiful home. Xx

Hope everything at your oncologist appointment goes well. Like others have said previously you shouldn’t be ashamed of those scars, you should be proud of yourself because by showing them, it help others.

Your daughter’s bedroom looks amazing, and it so nice that she is with you. Running a bath is one thing you wanted to do, you have done it for your daughter now and hopefully it won’t be to long before you are doing it for your youngest boy!

I bought my Christmas tree yesterday, we went to a Christmas tree farm and they cut it down, after you choose one! I take ages choosing one, it has to have no gaps, be 7ft. and basically be perfect. I love the Norway Spruce variety as it smell amazing, when it’s in the house. I don’t mind the needles dropping, but we do water it every day. We don’t put it up till around 10th Dec, so it’s in the garden in a bucket of water now.

It’s lovely to read all the things, you have been doing and are going to do. I’m so glad, your mam, dad and sister are helping you and being there for you now.

Oh I’d love to visit a Christmas tree farm! It’s on my bucket list . I’d love to see it once it’s up , I bet it will look amazing.
There was some lovely Christmas decorations in the garden centre today. There was some springy decorations with long dangly legs and the feet had bells on them or wind chimes they was lovely. My sister bought 2 turtle doves and gave me one for my tree .

Hi Laura and the Spoonies (anyone else think that sounds like a 1970s girl band?). House is looking lovely @Imbluedalale , love your daughters room, even the chicken bum lampshade 😂. Still lots of ups and downs here but we’ve had a very Christmassy weekend as my Mum will be away over Christmas so we did a Christmas dinner, town Christmas lights switch on, a little shopping and gave her her gifts. We’ve also decorated the tree. Oh, and the Elf arrived this morning with the advent calendars - send help!

We are a big girl band all of us spoonies although I can’t sing so I will be at the back miming when we perform.
Wait until the chicken bum lamp comes! It’s getting delivered , thankfully it hasn’t arrived yet. I hope it’s Evri that delivers it because there parcels always go missing.

Next year I’m going to have a big spoon tree.
Oh the elf 🤣🤣🤣🤣I remember those days. I used to get into bed and think ‘crap I haven’t done the elf’ the anxiety I had from that thing. I did slanting similar to this once which was quite easy but kids loved it. If you didn’t have time to make the poster you can digitally download it and add the chocs to it to make it easier xx

I’m just sat at my kitchen table waiting for my daughter to get up , can’t believe she’s here I kept checking on her through the night to make sure she was cosy. I wanted to be up before she wakes up to spend time with her before college.
Also my eldest texted me last night asking if he could come and see me tomorrow with his gf so I hope he comes but doing the ‘gently gently’ method and just said ‘course you can , your welcome here anytime’ and didn’t push it.
I haven’t spoken much to youngest as he’s unable to speak to me in private and last time I was on phone to him he was really off and ex and his brother were shouting ‘joskin’ at me through the phone. Btw a joskin is what travellers call a non traveller . It’s a very derogatory term but ex and his family called me it every day for years so it doesn’t surprise me . I’m not blaming youngest he’s in an apartment full of exs family all males so I understand him feeling awkward . He wants to be one of the boys whilst he’s there so I’m trying not to let it affect me .
Got my hospital appointment today urgh ! But on a good note my internet and tv thing should be getting delivered today.
Then daughter will be back from college this afternoon so we will make some dinner together and hopefully be able to watch the telly xx

I'm thinking about getting out of bed now. WFH today and office tomorrow. We have team Xmas lunch in town tomorrow so away at 12 for that and a salon appointment Wednesday evening for my hair. Haven't had an evening appointment in years so I hope I'm not there till 9pm! I also really need to see where I am at for Xmas. Start putting things together and see what else is needed. I've zero motivation 😂

@Imbluedalale I'm really good today, always start out well on Monday till it gets to Tuesday, then there's a dip till we get to Wednesday hump day and on our way to the weekend again!!
You will have to take lessons in that case because you are our front woman!! We can learn to play spoons! I feel a Christmas Album 2025 coming........
I made the roast chicken yesterday and had a pretty lazy day otherwise. I put the Christmas table cloth on and picked up the tinsel the cat has been chewing. That's about it!
We are going to a bar/restaurant in town so we have a choice of Christmas dinner or ordinary lunch menu. I tend to just have the one turkey dinner on Christmas day so I will probably end up with chicken gougons or something normal 😂

I think you’re doing the right thing just being very gentle with your eldest, that’s lovely he’d like to come round later and his gf though. Enjoy having internet and tv! That’ll make a big difference. How’s the sofa?

Thank you for posting your scar, what a perfect circle! I can imagine it with a tattoo of sun rays coming out from around it, not to hide it but to sort of showcase it. I just can’t ever imagine thinking anything negative about seeing a scar on someone. I’d think they were amazing to get through whatever caused it and empathy for them but that’s all. I think the majority of normal decent people would be the same.

And your ex MIL sounds an utter twat saying you’re “lucky” to have skin cancer.

Youve been through so much with the operations and skin graft and ribs and infection, far more than anyone should have to deal with by your age. I massively feel for you.

im back in the land of WiFi and signal after a weekend at DPs 😝. I did manage a trip to b&m and got ds a heated throw and a hot choc maker for Christmas.

Good luck with the appointment Laura. It's the dentist for my husband this morning and then he's going to help me get out of bed for a bit. I'm going to make a start on decorating the front cover of a diary. My mum always asks for me to make her a decorated diary for her Christmas present. This year I am trying out some acrylic paint pens.

i just had great fun scaling a fence to get into my flat having locked myself out, my neighbour has now confirmed i definitely am a strange one 😅 hope all goes well this afterboon laura x

I am not in the bowels of hell but I had a root canal Friday on the top right of my mouth and now have an ear infection on the same side.
And then the man that I live (he’s usually my other half but I’m not in the mood) has just asked me….
Why isn’t the Christmas tree up yet?!!
This is a man who will go to town on Christmas Eve and will then ring me up and ask me what he’s doing there.
I currently look like one of Alvin’s chipmunks, I am
also menopausal and I have the rage.

Hi @RaspberryBeretxx , it’s lovely to hear from you. Does DPs mean ‘dear parents’? If so I hope you had a lovely time. Oh I love a good trip to b&m always come out with loads of random stuff. Heated throw sounds lovely and hot choc maker.
When I was at garden centre yesterday they had some hot chocolate bombs which you put inside warm milk and when they melt there’s loads of mini marshmallows inside.
I’m loving the magnetic tie backs they are so handy I’m going to get some for my other rooms when I get round to it.
The sofa is amazing, I love it. Takes me 10 mins to sit down on it though as have to remove 1000 cushions first but once your sat down it’s bliss.
You’re all making me feel so much better about my scars , thank you. 🙏
I had my oncologist appointment today and as I was trying to sit down a man on the seat next to me asked if I needed any help. We got talking and he was with his wife. They was absolutely lovely people. Anyway we really shared our history it was so strange like we’d known each other for ages. He has got cancer which has spread to his brain and has hundreds of tumours in his body . He too became paralysed from treatment for 9 months and his foot was paralysed and he went blind for months and now he’s on tablet medication which he takes 15 a day. He said they have helped shrink the big tumour in his brain by loads . He was so positive and had such a lovely outlook on life. Anyway he asked to hear my story and I told him what’s happened this year inc everything with ex and where I’m at now and when I looked up to he was rubbing tears from his face. Oh my heart 🥹
I was telling them all about you spoonies and how you all have helped me so much and saved me and helped change my outlook on life. He said he found the people he didn’t think he was that close to helped him more than the people who he thought would be there and that resonated with me so much . He was telling me that during his treatment he was allowed to leave the hospital for an hour so they went to a cafe up the road and there was a queue . He got talking to the guy in front of him and was saying how nice the mince pies looked and said ‘I shouldn’t really be having one of them’ because of the weight he had out on with steroids . And the guy in front asked why so he told him. Anyway when he got to the front of the queue and ordered mince pies and drinks the lady said it had all been paid for and also gave him an envelope . Inside the envelope was a note and it said ‘thank you for humbling me today , I was having a bad day because of little stresses but you have made me realise what’s important and what’s not, please take this gift and for one day don’t worry about what you should and shouldn’t be eating and just enjoy your day with your wife and go out for a nice meal when your feeling well enough’ and he’d put £100 in the envelope 🥹🥹🥹🥹. The guy said he broke down there and then in this cafe.
We had to laugh as we was speaking for about an hour then his wife asked what happens next and he said oh I don’t know . She went to check and they’d all finished for the day and they’d been sitting there 😂😂😂😂. When he said goodbye he asked if he could give me a hug and he hugged me and kissed me on the cheek and said ‘don’t let anybody try and dim your light ever again’ well I had tears rolling down my face in front of everyone.
I’ll never forget that encounter for as long as I live.
My appointment went well , oncologist wants to wait and see what they find on Monday and go from there and then have an MDT meeting to discuss results. Only bad thing about today was they couldn’t find a vein they kept putting the needle in but no blood was coming out so after 3 attempts they went in through my hand and wow that is painful 😣. Hand still feels tender now and she said I’ll have a bad bruise . But all done until next week xx

Oh that's a wonderful story - well I know it's true, not a story but you know what I mean. Being in hospital and having treatment etc - they're great levellers aren't they? They make you see and understand what is truly important.
