Cue the "but I like fireworks and I don't give a crap about animals, veterans, the environment, people with lung conditions, because I'm all that matters" brigade.

You are far, far from unreasonable.

WildGuide · 13/11/2024 23:10

That’s so sad, what a horrible thing to happen. Hate fireworks, would ban them entirely from public sale.

AnotherChildFreeCatLady · 13/11/2024 23:11

Completely agree, fireworks are horrible and the people who continue supporting them regardless of the harm they cause are cunts.

Absolutely agree.

XenoBitch · 13/11/2024 23:15

Recently read about someone who lost their horse because of the fireworks too. Stress induced colic.

Miguelo · 13/11/2024 23:16

Where does it say fireworks and vomit were the cause of death?

So sad.
There's no need. On bonfire night I'd fine. They went on for a week here

You don’t sound nice at all. If it’s such a ‘yawnfest’ (as you & my 8 year old daughter cal it) why have you taken the time to not only post but link another thread. Cringy.

I’m with you op, I would ban the lot of them. Poor panda all the other animals & wildlife.

Maybe we should ban red pandas being stuck in a zoo in Scotland which is entirely not their climate and a miserable existence for them

Emotionalsupporthamster · 13/11/2024 23:22

Why the capitals? You’re not going to find a red panda wandering about in the wild in the UK are you, and does the fact it was in Scotland rather than any of the other countries in the UK make any difference to the point being made?

How about if it were a former service person who had died rather than a red panda? Would you still be so dismissive? Help for Heroes and Combat Stress have both begged people to stop using loud fireworks.

Where does it say fireworks and vomit were the cause of death?

It was a baby red panda called Roxie who died.

StillAtTheRestaurant · 13/11/2024 23:26

Yeah, I don't think there's any truth in this.
The mother red panda died. The baby is still alive.
ETA that was based on PP screenshot, apologies.

Yes they should be banned.
I can’t see what benefit the event is except companies make money

The whole reason behind it is horrible as well

Edited

All news articles with this say it’s the baby.

If you search red panda baby dies, fireworks, Edinburgh you can find an article explaining. They were doing a post mortem on the mum, Ginger, and now think stress from fireworks may have been a cause. They had hoped the baby, Roxie would survive her mum’s death, she was doing well, but she died on Bonfire Night.

Too many animals and people suffer because of people wanting to hear loud bangs, and high pitched roars of fireworks.

Mind those hairy feet and hands don't get caught by a stray spark.

Do you also let off balloons to "fly high"?

thatsawhopperthatlemon · 13/11/2024 23:31

@OptimismvsRealism sorry OP, but unfortunately, it is a waste of time trying to get the point across. I completely agree with you, and fireworks should be banned from sale to the general public.

People don't care because they love the big loud bangs, and the oohs and aahs, and the shiny bright lights, and you can't argue with that sort of stupid.
