Its not 5th November that is the issue. Public displays only, with legal requirements of notice etc wouldnt be a problem. Animal carers could make arrangements to keep their animals safe and lessen the exposure to noise as much as possible.
Its public sales of fireworks that is the issue. Families buying them and setting them off as and when they fancy, kids getting hold of them and "having a laugh", every single fucking wedding in firework season......these things are the issue.
Banning the sale of fireworks above sparkler level, and needing a licence from the local council to buy fireworks from specially licensed retailers (so not Asda etc) would stop the random shit that upsets animals.
I would add.
My father is deaf and so has bilateral Cochlear Implants. These are better than hearing aids but they are not as selective as natural hearing. Fireworks, loud music, a random shout, applause etc all make him jump hugely (to the point where he is on anti anxiety medication). He is what we call DeafDeaf between the end of October and the second week in January as he doesnt use his implants and we all sign due to the effects. It upsets all of us, but him mostly, that he misses out on so much because of it. Humans with Autism, blindness, some types of hearing loss, etc etc etc. are also badly affected.
Its not just animals.
