Something big is coming ...

Help me get a grip!

I have a horrible horrible feeling in my stomach that something big globally is about to kick off. I can't shake the feeling.

I know it's nonsense and I don't believe in all the woo stuff. I don't really believe in premonitions etc.. but I've only had this feeling once before and that was October 6th last year, and obviously things didn't pan out too well after that.

It's really stressing me out.

Please tell me the world will be the same tomorrow as it is today, my feelings last year were just coincidence, and I should just try and ignore this weirdness!

Has anyone had a feeling like before and all has been well?

Anyone know what these feelings are about? ... the science?

Thanks

Unplug for a while, no news, no newspapers, no social media. Get out in nature.

DeanElderberry · 12/11/2024 12:07

Dash in and run, rush, hurry, or else Accident!

unless you're American of course

MigraineHangover · 12/11/2024 10:08

Nope. Only Oct 6th last year. I think that's why I'm worrying now, but I'm pretty sure it's just coincidence? Just feels so unnerving.

I for one don't think this is coincidence. Have you spoken to the authorities ?

babyproblems · 12/11/2024 12:11

Have a listen to some history podcasts. You will see that we don’t live in particularly shocking times - recent events seem unstable to us now compared to history but knowing how things have unfolded before might reassure you!! Life goes on even in turbulent times and after.

Nice idea except that climate disaster is a very real and current issue that’s only going to get worse.

I know it's nonsense!!

I partly posted for 2 reasons:

  1. If something does kick off, I won't think imagined this!
  1. If something doesn't kick off (most likely scenario I hope!!!) then if I ever get this feeling again I can remind myself of this time, when I posted about it and nothing happened! It will remind me it's just a daft feeling and to ignore it :)

Good thinking! A feeling of doom can go with all sorts of things including poor digestion, and it's good to remember that often nothing happens in the outside world.
However, sometimes it does. I had some terrifying dreams about being swept away by gigantic waves on the days before Christmas in 2004, then that terrible tsunami happened on Boxing Day. But no doubt I've had other nightmares which were followed by nothing.

the80sweregreat · 12/11/2024 12:16

I knew you'd be told it's nothing op and maybe it will all be fine, but I do understand how you feel and the world is in a mess with wars and huge problems with so many things beyond our control.
The sun isn't shining as much as it used to I read today. It's probably nothing , but it makes everything feel gloomier. I know that the sun is shining ok in other countries though of course ..
Have to soldier on and just hope many of the world's problems may be solved , but it does feel gloomy.

Yeah!! weirdly although I can't eat at all during my migraines, or hold anything down to be honest! (tmi sorry), I do seem to need sugar the next day!

which might lead to another!

On October 6th I had a weird feeling something globally big l, and bad, was about to happen. It's the same feeling I have now. I've never had it before. I went to bed with the fear.

The next day - October 7th, a huge and catastrophic tragedy unfolded in Israel and since then thousands upon thousands of innocent men, women and children have died at the hands of the IDF in Gaza. 😥

If nuclear world War 3 does kick off there is absolutely noting we can do, just accept the world is run by greedy war hunger bast##ds
But I do feel better knowing trump got back in the white house I think he will push for peace within the world leaders

Tbh something horrendous happens somewhere in the world every minute of every day, we just don't hear about most of them. If you get this feeling and then you read about something terrible then it's coincidence.

its not that nothing dreadful has happened in the last however long. You just didn't hear about the all the atrocities that happened every day between the last time you felt like this and now.

Or you did hear about them but disregarded them because you didn't get the feeling before you heard about them iyswim.

You can't predict the future. Nobody can. So it's not that.

People sometimes have a feeling of impending doom when they're coming down with something.

I'd say that it is much more likely you're incubating an illness than it is that you are clairvoyant.

You’ve been reading twitter,,,or X …or whatever Mr Musk calls it these days.

Having read this thread, and that feelings of doom can be warning of heart attack I, I am now starting to worry that I might have a heart attack!! So it seems I have been struck with a bit of anxiety today, don't know why but I think this migraine has something to do with it. It really was the worst one I've had in about 5 years! :(

Can we wait til next week please, as it’s my birthday on Sunday.

On a serious note though, I get very down after a migraine attack and anxious so I think there is something in it. It is a lot worse feeling than beer fear, but I find a long walk sorts it out.

Happy birthday for Sunday! 🥳

BitOutOfPractice · 12/11/2024 12:30

I mean, Gary Lineker has left Match of the Day. But I’d say that’s a positive world event really. So I think you can relax op.

seriously, it’s a horrible feeling isn’t it, but that’s all it is, a feeling.

Horrace · 12/11/2024 12:30

Can I suggest u go over to the Litter box. There are some very funny threads and kitty pics on there to take your mind off impending doom.

John Michael Greer - catabolic collapse, if that's going to reassure you. Took 400 years for the Roman Empire to fall. Most people don't even know its happening

Love John Michael Greer

Here’s a quote that inspired me to study history

‘Those that say the world is getting worse are very much mistaken, for Adam had but one commandment to keep and Cain slew his brother Abel when there were but two of them to rule the world.´ Samuel Butler? 17th c

(Im relying on my memory for this as I can’t find it anywhere so I apologize for any mis attribution/quotation)

What was so important to me was that people in the 90s were saying the same thing that people in the 17century were saying, and now people are saying today. It helps me with perspective. Humanity and motivation don’t change but we persevere. I’m still avoiding the news though.

LastNightMyPJsSavedMyLife · 12/11/2024 12:32

Everyday something bad happens somewhere in the world. You just don't get to hear about it.

Yep agree ^
World affairs will continue with or without you, and realistically there’s nothing you can do about them. I used to think following the news improved my anxiety because I knew what was happening, but it was actually just feeding it until the next news story came along. I’m not a protestor, an activist or a charity worker - I wouldn’t actually be doing anything to prevent or improve something like a political situation. Your brain absorbs what you pay attention to and nothing bad will happen to you or anyone else if you turn your attention elsewhere.

user1471516498 · 12/11/2024 12:36

I have had feelings like that on a number of occasions, and I always got ill shortly afterwards.
