Something big is coming ...

Help me get a grip!

I have a horrible horrible feeling in my stomach that something big globally is about to kick off. I can't shake the feeling.

I know it's nonsense and I don't believe in all the woo stuff. I don't really believe in premonitions etc.. but I've only had this feeling once before and that was October 6th last year, and obviously things didn't pan out too well after that.

It's really stressing me out.

Please tell me the world will be the same tomorrow as it is today, my feelings last year were just coincidence, and I should just try and ignore this weirdness!

Has anyone had a feeling like before and all has been well?

Anyone know what these feelings are about? ... the science?

Thanks

Well to be honest really horrible shit is probably going to happen fairly soon, but it'll all be on the other side of a screen - e.g. climate change making some parts of the world uninhabitable, huge hordes of refugees arriving and being machine gunned at the border, that sort of thing. Probably won't affect you materially so don't worry be happy. 😁

Dollybantree · 12/11/2024 11:30

Stop watching/reading the news.

I did during Covid and it’s great. Dh knows not to tell me anything negative unless it’s WW3 panic stations and we need to build a bunker. I like living in ignorant bliss!

Shhhthedogssleeping · 12/11/2024 11:33

My bet is on migraine plus 24/7 news reporting on world leaders speculating and planning for a Trump presidency, with a whole host of experts and advisers being interviewed for their takes on it.
It’s literally everywhere.

I think your 6 Oct was probably coincidence. The older I get the more amazed I am at the amount of insane coincidences both small and big.

I agree with limiting your news exposure, focusing and concentrating on what is in your control and watching and listening to stuff that you find relaxing and undemanding. It sounds an awful feeling. Hope it passes soon.

GinnyPiggie · 12/11/2024 11:37

I tend to feel this way when I'm fighting something off! You might come down with a cold or something!

betterangels · 12/11/2024 11:39

I watch the news a lot less. I'm so much happier. I check once a day now. No TV news at all.

On October 6th I had a weird feeling something globally big l, and bad, was about to happen. It's the same feeling I have now. I've never had it before. I went to bed with the fear.

The next day - October 7th, a huge and catastrophic tragedy unfolded in Israel and since then thousands upon thousands of innocent men, women and children have died at the hands of the IDF in Gaza. 😥

Relax. Dreadful things happen, so the chances of something big occurring when you've had a doom moment are high - that's just arithmetic. You can't predict the future. Do your bit with climate change. We all can. Ignore the rest as you can't do anything.

SweetSakura · 12/11/2024 11:43

I think when you are feeling like this the best thing is to step away from the news and cocoon yourself a bit.

GreetingsfromBotswana · 12/11/2024 11:48

I have checked with Chat GBT for you. There are no widely anticipated monumental global events scheduled for tomorrow. But it is World Kindness Day.

Falifornia · 12/11/2024 11:49

@Soupwithstring

Hope your recovery has gone smoothly and that your well deserved break recharges your batteries.

I was a T5 Champagne Bar virgin until last month. My pre trip glass of bubbly was worth every spendy penny so ENJOY each sip!

Dreadful things and global crisis are happening all the time, every day, all over the world. If that makes you feel any better.

I've always been a news buff. Will watch and read 24/7 if I could. But lately, like you, I've found myself feeling that impending doom 🤣.
But mostly anger if I'm honest, so I've had to take a break from it.
It doesn't help that I was brought up in a doomsday cult so that's always at the back of my mind. What if they were right all along. Even though I know it's all nonsense.
But I just tell myself, if it happens, run to that mushroom cloud and get it over with.

MigraineHangover · 12/11/2024 11:55

I feel like it's gonna be an assassination type thing or something of that magnitude - think of to 7th, twin towers, JFK.... I wish I could stop thinking it!

If it is a migraine thing, then bloody hell are migraines weird!!

I've had my chocolate fix and a coffee now! Feeling physically better! Less spaced out! But still can't shake this feeling. Must get.oj with some work!! Must must!! ...

Hope tomorrow comes and goes quickly and all is well!!

I think this is a very normal reaction to the current state of the world (trump / Gaza / Ukraine etc).

My late mum's favourite "saying"...

Crap happens, whether you worry about it or not, so chin up, live life.

I am a former new journalist and I have stopped watching the news. It is too stressful. Crack on and then step in when I can do something useful.

Op - have you had a health check-up recently? A feeling of impending doom can be a symptom of something serious—just a thought.

Also if you doom scroll a lot it will make any underlying anxiety issues worse, and after the political shite storm we've all watched for the past week, it could e your extra on edge and you need to practice some meditation/breathing/yoga something that makes you calmer.

Do something that builds the good hormones in your head, sex, shopping or rage cleaning etc. 😁

LostTheMarble · 12/11/2024 12:00

I went through a similar phase. Not dread so much, but I kept remembering random celebrities, googling them and within a couple of weeks they died. It was utterly bizarre, not even elderly. I convinced my self that I had some sort of Death Note power with Wikipedia. But obviously it’s just strange coincidence, bad world events will always happen, people will die unexpectedly, it’s just a sad reality.
