Something big is coming ...

Help me get a grip!

I have a horrible horrible feeling in my stomach that something big globally is about to kick off. I can't shake the feeling.

I know it's nonsense and I don't believe in all the woo stuff. I don't really believe in premonitions etc.. but I've only had this feeling once before and that was October 6th last year, and obviously things didn't pan out too well after that.

It's really stressing me out.

Please tell me the world will be the same tomorrow as it is today, my feelings last year were just coincidence, and I should just try and ignore this weirdness!

Has anyone had a feeling like before and all has been well?

Anyone know what these feelings are about? ... the science?

Thanks

I just went onto a news website and it was bad story after bad story, from all over the world, link after link. Child kills parents, driver kills motorcyclist, woman dies from botched surgery, man accused of killing step child... None of these things directly impact my life or happened anywhere near me but there's so much of it to consume because we read a headline like that and it sets off our danger - alert part of the brain and feel a need to read them. Hence media crank these stories out by the bucketload, for clicks.

It's enough to make anyone feel anxious.

potatocakesinprogress · 12/11/2024 10:31

Exactly, something happens every day. Whether you react to seeing it as something big or not depends how it affects you personally.

The war in Sudan never makes the news for example, even though it's horrifically bad.

And the Chagos Islands thing barely gets a mention even though the UK and US are very closely tied into it, but it seems to be a big deal for the people who live there.

I wouldn't worry about anything major more happening this year. It will be next year that's terrifying.

All good til the last sentence!! Hopefully not too terrifying! 🫣😱

A migraine hangover is the postdrome. A sense of doom with migraine at different stages is pretty common tbh.

I've attached a time line of the different stages, however take the times with a huge pinch of salt - mine can last days so the times extend enormously.

Thanks! I'm waiting for the euphoria to kick in! 😉 Might go and buy some chocolate, that might help it hurry along!

Nope, no alcohol. But I have a migraine hangover (that's what I call the day after a migraine!) so maybe it's related.. I hadn't thought about that as a connection til a previous poster just posted something upthread. Thanks! 👍

I feel doom/ a heavy weight on my chest/ anxiety/depression both before and after a migraine. It's probably this.

There has never been a time in human history when something hugely awful wasn't happening somewhere. Some of these events come to global prominence and have cross country/cultural ramifications/significance, some of them elude the media gaze (and thus our own), but nevertheless remain awful for the people suffering, even though we in the West never hear about it. I highly doubt you are having a premonition of anything - anxiety about the state of the world at the moment is pretty normal and widespread.

Yeah!! weirdly although I can't eat at all during my migraines, or hold anything down to be honest! (tmi sorry), I do seem to need sugar the next day!

Just to echo that there are lots of awful things happening each day. In war zones. To women and girls in Afghanistan and Iran for example. While you shouldn’t minimise your feelings perhaps you should reflect on what is really going on. Are you on the cusp of a change in your personal life or at work? Are you run down or about to get a winter flu. TBH the news is never good these days because the threat of global catastrophe generates clicks. Maybe do an electronic detox if you can. I hope you feel better soon.

I'm actually really glad I made this post now because I hadn't considered the migraine link before at all (don't know why not now! I probably should have!). Now it makes total sense.

I've no idea if I had a migraine around October 6th last year, but I may well have, so that has helped me possibly explain that strange time too!

Chocolate before, during and after here
My body craves sugar and carbs throughout an attack. Even when I have cyclical vomiting attacks I'm desperate for it.

Thischangeseverything · 12/11/2024 10:41

I generally don't believe in woo, but I do believe that one's subconscious can pick up on things and give you unexplained gut feelings. I've had at least five dreams come true. It's possible something you read or heard has given you this feeling and you may be right.

But I also believe in confirmation bias. Many people have feelings of impending doom on any given day and the ones they remember are those which coincidentally happened on the days of major events.

I wouldn't worry if I were you as there's nothing you can do even if you are right.

SnapdragonToadflax · 12/11/2024 10:45

It's anxiety. Your body is feeling anxious so it makes your brain think of a reason, because that's what humans do.

I was mentally very unwell a few years ago and I used to regularly be convinced the Queen was going to die. I didn't particularly care about the Queen - in fact I'm quite anti-Royal family - but it would be a big deal, and I was certain. I would wake up in the night and check my phone to see if it had been announced. It was completely mad, but, well... I was going a bit mad.

I highly recommend some drugs and talking therapy.

GameOfJones · 12/11/2024 10:45

Stopping watching the news is the single best thing I did for my anxiety. I stopped during Covid when they were doing that awful death counter every night on the news and then I was going to bed anxious and stressed.

It doesn't mean I don't care what is happening. I put on LBC on the radio every morning while I'm making breakfasts so I can stay up to date with things but only for 15 minutes or so. I find listening to the news on the radio less upsetting than watching horrible videos or going down a rabbit hole reading the news on my phone.

In terms of the science. Impending feelings of doom can be common for migraines, heart attacks, general anxiety or menopause. Or it is often just one of those things. My advice would be to switch the news off and focus on your own body. Stay informed in the way that serves you best but focus on the things you can control. We weren't designed to be bombarded with horrible news from around the world 24/7. It's no wonder so many people are in a constant state of fight or flight.

VivianLea · 12/11/2024 10:46

I get feelings of big change sometimes, for me it's linked to the weather. I always feel like a change is coming just before spring and just before autumn, but I usually sense them as changes in my own life rather than global. Of course I know that it's my body picking up on a change in temperature and not an actual change, and I work in a university so in a sense things do change in autumn and spring as terms start and end.

I sometimes get the feeling of big global doom, but it's never tracked any global change and again I think it's linked to a sudden change in temperature.

Gagagardener · 12/11/2024 10:50

@MigraineHangover I am assuming from your username that you suffer from migraine. As I do. Over the years, my symptoms have altered; recently, an attack followed a day in which I felt uncharacterustically fearful and doomladen. A poster upthread said that the 'science' was that you are uneasy in your body. I echo that; it's brain chemistry/neurology. This is not to minimise what is happening in the wider world. There are indeed reasons for fear, but we have to keep doing our best in our own immediate sphere. Sleep, good diet, fresh air, exercise... Best wishes!

I'm glad you wrote this here OP and I hope this thread makes you feel more grounded. As the truth is that stuff is happening continuously so it's a bit tricky when you zone in on one thing in this way as it's a bit like you discount all the other horrifying (and good, and mundane) stuff that is happening at the same time. Our brains do this as we struggle to hold too much conflicting information. However this isn't helping you currently, so try and ground and remember to breathe and be in your body. I find this life changing in terms of my capacity to engage with life. Not that I am discounting that you may well be the greatest psychic who ever lived and it is all starting here, but just in the interests of generally mental health and wellbeing, I would take into account the poster above who talked about the Queen. Take care.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 12/11/2024 10:52

Big things have been happening throughout history - wars, floods, earthquakes, tsunamis, typhoons - only we didn’t have 24 hour news seemingly hurled at us daily.

Stay away from the news for a while.

SharpTiger · 12/11/2024 10:52

It's the UAP disclosure meeting tomorrow in the US. I've been following for months. Various officers will be giving testimonials.

Gagagardener · 12/11/2024 10:53

Did not read whole thread. Now I see others have made the migraine link. Actually reassuring for me as well.

Hi fellow migraine sufferer!

Thanks. Yeah, this thread has really helped me see the link. I can't believe I hadn't made the connection to migraine before.

A new weird symptom to add to my migraine list it seems!

Thanks for your post!

Well. If I am the greatest psychic that ever lived (that made me smile!! 😊 ) we might know tomorrow! More likely and hopefully though, it's migraine related or possibly anxiety linked to migraine :)

A sense of impending doom is sometimes a symptom of an approaching heart attack, I read somewhere. That obviously didn't happen to you on 6th October so I imagine you'll be OK this time!
