Something big is coming ...

Help me get a grip!

I have a horrible horrible feeling in my stomach that something big globally is about to kick off. I can't shake the feeling.

I know it's nonsense and I don't believe in all the woo stuff. I don't really believe in premonitions etc.. but I've only had this feeling once before and that was October 6th last year, and obviously things didn't pan out too well after that.

It's really stressing me out.

Please tell me the world will be the same tomorrow as it is today, my feelings last year were just coincidence, and I should just try and ignore this weirdness!

Has anyone had a feeling like before and all has been well?

Anyone know what these feelings are about? ... the science?

Thanks

The 24-hr. news cycle and the catastrophizing for clicks that the media do incessantly isn't good for anyone's mental health. Step away for a bit.

If you've been following the news or watching TV you'll be aware that a big event is coming, on 25th December it will be Christmas.

We need a galaxies wide mulitary space force and a human empire that expands across the stars

Dappy777 · 12/11/2024 14:32

I’ve got four words for you: stop watching the news. Meditate, get out in nature, deep breathe and read books instead. If you don’t enjoy reading, try audiobooks. Laying in a hot bath listening to Stephen Fry read Sherlock Holmes or P G Wodehouse is my idea of heaven. If you don’t like fiction, read some popular science. That will put everything in perspective. Our planet has been orbiting the sun for four and half billion years. It is about half way through its life cycle. In five billion years it will engulf the earth and then shrivel to a white dwarf. None of that is going to change because you’ve got butterflies in your stomach.

MobilityCat · 12/11/2024 14:42

It’s completely natural to feel unsettled sometimes, especially when we sense things may be changing or out of our control. While these feelings can be intense, it's important to recognize that they don’t always predict actual events.

The brain is incredibly good at noticing patterns, and sometimes it can give us a "gut feeling" even when there’s no logical basis for it. Stress, anxiety, or even things like lack of sleep or changes in routine can contribute to these feelings, making us more attuned to what might seem like an impending change.

In terms of science, these sensations are likely a result of heightened awareness due to our emotions and brain activity.

The brain can sometimes form connections or assumptions based on past events, which might make us feel that similar things will happen again, even when they won’t.

The world may feel uncertain at times, but the chances of something “big” happening are just as uncertain. While it’s tough to ignore feelings like these, it can be helpful to remind yourself that they don’t define reality.

Things tend to unfold in their own time, and it’s often more productive to focus on staying grounded in the present moment, taking care of yourself, and finding ways to reduce stress.

The unease you feel is due to the low level rumble of the approaching alien motherships. It'll subside once they enter our orbit.

justasking111 · 12/11/2024 15:02

My husband watches the news incessantly . IMO it's like poking a bad tooth increases the pain.

I put in my ear buds, escape to Netflix etc. or read a book

I wonder if migraines jiggle our hormones about to our detriment.

CautiousLurker1 · 12/11/2024 15:03

Welby resigned, the cowardly enabler. Was that it?

I recently watched a programme on bbc iplayer called should america police the world. It went from WW2 conflict right up to present day. What it made me realise is that there has always been conflict, fears of WW3, instability but when you go back and you see the what happened in the Bosnia, Rwanda, Kosovo, Darfur, Libya & Syria it's a stark and sobering reminder that there has been constant conflict and sadly genocide every decade.

what is different now is that we are in an age of social media, news outlets need people to click on their articles so they have to catastrophise things to the point that we feel anxious all of the time.

As previous posters have said, I would really take a break from the news/social media as much as possible.

OAPapparently · 12/11/2024 15:23

If it makes you feel better I’ve had premonitions and feelings of impending doom and then something bad has actually happened, but I’m feeling fine right now and the opposite of that!

Havalona · 12/11/2024 15:29

Constant daily news jumbles up your brain and brings on anxiety. I just glance at the headlines once a day. I refuse to listen to or watch any news/current affairs programs anymore since to me, they just seem to be a platform for pundits to shout over one another and pretend they know everything. Whereas in fact they don't know much at all!

I've realised that we are powerless to do anything about much really, so there's little point in hand wringing and getting upset. That's for World leaders, politicians, strategists and so on to do. We elect them, they have to do things on our behalf, so I have to hand it over to them.

Covid lockdown taught me that watching/listening to so called "news" updates was absolutely fruitless, and since then I've been in news blackout. Best thing EVER for my mental health.

Thank.you! Good luck with your new job!

I received very positive news for three separate clients today. All 3 women being the victims of intimate partner violence. It has been a good day.

I appreciate you being wary. Our brains are incredibly sensitive to real or perceived patterns.

but that’s it. Don’t worry too much.

Whippetlovely · 12/11/2024 15:58

Has this feeling of impending doom started since Kier Starmer came in??

Compash · 12/11/2024 15:58

DancefloorAcrobatics · 12/11/2024 11:56

IT HAS HAPPENED!

I AM FINALLY STUCK IN A LIFT AT WORK..

Darling, how thrilling! And nice and early, not just before going-home time... Have you got out yet? Or have you had to wee-wee in the corner?

As for the impending doom, OP, I always get it when I'm about to get a UTI, so drink lots of water, along with your other precautions...

As for the News, there's something ghastly and 'orrible on it every day, so whatever day you feel impending doom, there will be something the next day to justify it. I advise Youtubing some videos of baby orangutangs. 🐵

On October 6th I had a weird feeling something globally big l, and bad, was about to happen. It's the same feeling I have now. I've never had it before. I went to bed with the fear.

The next day - October 7th, a huge and catastrophic tragedy unfolded in Israel and since then thousands upon thousands of innocent men, women and children have died at the hands of the IDF in Gaza. 😥

Pick any single day in history and something bad happened somewhere in the world, there is not one single day something bad does not happen.

Something happening in an already high tension area between two long feuding religions/cultures half way across the world from you was in no way a 'premonition'.

Can you advise if this monumental event will occur GMT or EST? Do I need to worry about it first thing tomorrow morning or will it wait until the US come online?

I think if by midnight tomorrow night British time, nothing has happened, we're safe and I'm a loon (or my migraines are playing tricks on my mind!) 👍
