Another XL Bully Attack

Vicious XL Bully attack leaves five-year-old boy with life-changing injuries and needing facial reconstruction surgery | Daily Mail Online

Little Teddy needed 100 stitches in his face but was lucky to escape with his life.

Is it unreasonable now to ask the Government to give a warning in the media, that children are to be kept away from these dogs? Not to enter a house or garden where they're known to be? Even if told that the dog is safe, which they are not.
This little chap was visiting a home with his family when it struck.

XL Bully attack leaves young boy needing facial reconstruction surgery

A five-year-old boy has been left with life-changing injuries following a vicious mauling by an XL Bully in Scotland. His traumatised family who helplessly watched on in horror now want the breed banned.

This isn't some moral dilemma that a nation of vegans is facing. Just cull them already.

ScupperedbytheSea · 08/11/2024 15:14

There has been so much media coverage about how dangerous they are.

If you let your child go into a home where one is present and not locked in another room or muzzle, that's on you.

MrsTerryPratchett · 08/11/2024 15:14

I'd treat it like smoking in the house or drug-taking. No way would my child be visiting.

hollyblueivy · 08/11/2024 15:15

Feels like a weekly occurrence at the moment.

TammyBundleballs · 08/11/2024 15:18

Of course all dangerous dogs should be banned and culled and any owners who break the law should be punished harshly.

However some people really don’t help themselves. There is not a chance in hell that I’d visit a house where there was an XL bully present and I’d no more allow my toddler to go there than I would allow him to play with a gun.

VeryCheesyChips · 08/11/2024 15:19

Put them down. Would I fuck risk one of them around my children and anyone who would is an unfit parent.

Poor, poor boy.

Toomanysquishmallows · 08/11/2024 15:21

Poor boy , that’s so sad

Oldseagull · 08/11/2024 15:23

There will be another one in a week or two. Then another. Then another.

People don't always know there is going to be an xl bully present in the house they or their child is visiting.

The poor children with moronic parents who keep one in a house won't have a chance.

The amount of attacks still happening in public spaces and parks, non lethal for humans only by sheer luck is shocking.

The ban is not protecting anyone. They didn't go nearly far enough.

oakleaffy · 08/11/2024 15:25

These XL Bullies are extremely unstable temperamentally.
Massively inbred, they are bred from pitbull dog fighting dogs and American bullies-
Both types of dog heavily implicated in attacks on their owners , children, people’s pet dogs and horses.- not to mention sheep.

They are like a psychopath- can turn in an instant.

HagsRule · 08/11/2024 15:32

It's terrifying. I've been invited to a playdate on Monday I'm checking first if she has a pet and if so, what and if an XL, I'm saying no.

AliceMcK · 08/11/2024 15:34

I do not understand anyone who thinks it’s ok to go near these dogs. I understand many people love their dogs and feel they have done nothing to deserve being put down, but the risks are far to high, these owners need to understand this about the breed, their dog maybe lovely and fun, the kids love it, but the risks of it turning are just too high.

username7891 · 08/11/2024 15:36

Why aren't the parents being prosecuted?

The sooner this becomes common knowledge the better.

The dogs don't even have to meet to breed. The sperm used to be sent and probably still is. Some of these people aren't dog lovers at all but treat the breeding of them as some sort of Frankenstein experiment.

No-one normal has an XL bully. No-one has one and thinks 'yeah this is a normal dog to have'. It's not like having a cockapoo that might randomly snap one day. I bet if you put all XL bully owners in prison a good amount of crime would decrease, not just dog attacks.

Laalaalaand · 08/11/2024 15:41

Destroy them all. They're monstrous and so are the people that breed them.

sprigatito · 08/11/2024 15:42

These ugly slavering fuckers are so overbred and messed up, I'm not sure they even qualify as dogs any more. They are the canine equivalent of lab-grown meat. They should all be rounded up and exterminated. Prison time for any knuckle dragger who doesn't cooperate.

This 100%.

The only people I know to have them are two brothers who have been known to me for 20 plus years and they are both violent psychopaths who have spent long stretches in jail. They also have them around their young children and grand child.

OldTinHat · 08/11/2024 15:46

I rehomed a dog from a 2 bed home with five children under 7yrs and mum pregnant with no.6. She had an XL puppy.

It wasn't an XL I rehomed, btw.

Every time I read one of these awful, horrific incidents, I wonder if it will be her family.

bluebalou · 08/11/2024 15:48

I'm a massive dog lover , but this is all to common now and I know people say it's because they are xl bullies , but these dogs are too powerful if they turn for any human to be able to help.
I truly love all
Dogs but I do think this now has to stop and it be a full ban on these.
I'd never want to say any dog pts , but I think this may be the only way now, as dispute the law things haven't changed.
Poor dogs , no fault if their own.

LovelyDaaling · 08/11/2024 15:51

It's about time these dogs were culled.

No, they are not regular dogs.
A normal family dog may bite a hand from fear, especially if cornered. An XL attacks to kill.
You see these attacks and notice how often they leap for the human's neck.
That is not normal pet dog behaviour or even guard dog behaviour.
It's dreadful what some humans have created.

It's all very well too as some saying parents should know by now, but what chance does a little 5 year have in visiting a house with his parents where one is kept.

We need ‘big or dangerous’ dogs legislation.

First extend the breed bans.

Then any dog that isn’t banned outright and is capable of killing of inflicting terrible injury - Rottweilers, Dobermans, Alsatians, Staffies, the whole lot of them - should be subject to restrictions.

The dangerous non-banned breeds should at the very least be required by law to be muzzled at all times in public.

Edited

But why legislate against dogs that aren’t actually the problem here?
XL Bully’s are THE issue here.

Worse than smoking and some drug taking.

Given a choice I would much rather my DC went to the house of a smoker or someone smoking weed than a dangerous dog
