Another XL Bully Attack

Vicious XL Bully attack leaves five-year-old boy with life-changing injuries and needing facial reconstruction surgery | Daily Mail Online

Little Teddy needed 100 stitches in his face but was lucky to escape with his life.

Is it unreasonable now to ask the Government to give a warning in the media, that children are to be kept away from these dogs? Not to enter a house or garden where they're known to be? Even if told that the dog is safe, which they are not.
This little chap was visiting a home with his family when it struck.

XL Bully attack leaves young boy needing facial reconstruction surgery

A five-year-old boy has been left with life-changing injuries following a vicious mauling by an XL Bully in Scotland. His traumatised family who helplessly watched on in horror now want the breed banned.

@Mumofnarnia completely your choice. But comparing a staffy to an XL is utterly pointless. They are incomparable. I don't have a staffy either but I don't have the same feelings towards them as I do towards XL bullies.

Day in day out Staffies are the subject of destruction orders in the magistrates courts. They do a lot of damage. Just not as much headline killing as XL Bullies do.

Oh really 🤣 And let me know just how many staffys have attacked people! Like I say, I’m a responsible parent and no sort of bully breed is ever coming near my child so be an apologist for them all you like. Won’t do you any favours on this thread

SilverShadowNight · 08/11/2024 17:31

There's an XL Bully lives in a sheltered housing complex near me where my Auntie lives. The dog is walked unmuzzled by a woman using a wheelchair.

It needs to be a recognised safeguarding issue. No XL bully in a house where a child lives or visits

They still get out of houses and gardens though

I'd just get rid

TheFormidableMrsC · 08/11/2024 17:32

Somebody found one wandering locally recently. Put pics on FB before taking to a vet for chip identification. The dog was enormous, it also had cropped ears. The comments though, none about the actual terrible danger of this dog being loose and unmuzzled, it was all "poor baby", "what an angel", so on and so forth. It blows my mind that anybody can have these dogs as pets.

Also I have zero respect for anyone who wants to defend any type of killer dog who once it locks its jaws on something won’t let go! Defend until the cows come home, nobody is listening to you

blueyismyg · 08/11/2024 17:36

@Mumofnarnia Just so you know, putting silly emojis and endless !!! doesn't make your point any more valid.

You don't have to like staffies or other bull breeds. That's your personal choice. But there is no legislation to ban them. Or cull them. There aren't endless reports of them attacking like XL bullies because they are not the same for the reasons already listed.

Lumping all bull breeds together isn't helpful. It just dilutes the focus that should be on XL bullies who really are a danger to the public.

The sooner this becomes common knowledge the better.

Look at all the ear cropping cunts on that.

I'd report that to the dog warden and police

I haven't heard that idea floated before but it is a damn good one!

If I knew where these devil dogs were I could change the route I walk etc. It would make parents think more and help protect workers who visit homes eg paramedics.

Seriously, it must be terrifying being an emergency worker, not knowing what you're walking in to!

Completely agree, it's a temporary way to keep people safe

I had hoped that the first plan was to get them registered so that they could prepare plans to euthanize these dogs

As much as I feel badly for the dogs, human safety must come first, and it's children and local people who are at huge risk

If I had my way any bully would be gone! After the atrocities I’ve seen and heard about them create! So defend away I really don’t give a shit!

Tomatina · 08/11/2024 17:38

If a tiger or puma escaped from a zoo, the surrounding area would be locked down, police everywhere, people told to stay inside with windows shut until the animal was caught.
XL Bullys are just as lethal, yet people have them in their homes, and take them into our streets and parks. It just beggars belief.

blueyismyg · 08/11/2024 17:38

@Mumofnarnia oh dear. An erratic stranger on MN has zero respect for me, how will I live?

Look, you obviously have your own very personal reasons for not liking bull breeds. Which is understandable. But as I said, it's a pointless comparison between them and XL bullies.

Oh dear I’ve upset a bully apologist how naughty of me lol

blueyismyg · 08/11/2024 17:42

@Mumofnarnia I'm not a bully apologist. I have nothing to apologise for. I just happen to have had experience with bull breeds and am highlighting the ridiculousness of comparing all of them to XL bullies.

Perhaps you would like to explain to everyone on this thread why they should allow their children around a non XL bully, bully then despite them having the ability to kill and can be unpredictable and the best of times. A bully is a bully to me XL or otherwise! All have the ability to lock their jaws and not let go’

Trumptonagain · 08/11/2024 17:46

Is it unreasonable now to ask the Government to give a warning in the media, that children are to be kept away from these dogs

Why the government?

Is it now considered that everything has to be passed through the government.

Knowing full well how much press and news attention these dogs have had, for months now, is it too much to expect the parent/s of a child to take some responsibility and make an informed decision themselves as to whether they want their DC in an environment where this type of dog is kept.

blueyismyg · 08/11/2024 17:50

@Mumofnarnia I already have. Keep up.

Any large, powerful dog has the ability to seriously injure or kill. It's about temperament and genetics. And as we are seeing more and more, there are serious flaws with XLs that make them switch and attack just like that. I haven't seen that in my bull breeds, ever.

Of course any dog can turn at any time which is why none can be completely trusted. And there is an added risk with large, powerful dogs. But large powerful dogs don't just equate to bull breeds.

You are biased in your opinion because you don't like them, which as I've repeatedly said is your choice. But I'm just saying there's no point trying to put them in the same league as an XL.

They don’t have to be large and powerful against a child. All they need to do is lock their jaws and not let go! I seen a staffy pup attack my horse - that’s right a 500kg horse and caused some serious damage. A child would not stand a chance against one of those! They are comparable to XL bullys because all of them lock their jaws and DONT LET GO!!!!

Rather than target the majority, why not target the minority here ?

A staff killed an elderly man in my town a few years ago.
Apparently, it was a "sweet dog" who had never shown aggression before

Exactly but staffys are apparently not comparable to an xl bully according to a poster. Despite them being killer dogs who lock their jaws on their victims just the same

blueyismyg · 08/11/2024 17:57

@Mumofnarnia but the temperament is not the same. XL bullies have repeatedly been shown to flip, sometimes attacking their owners. You don't see that behaviour in other dogs, if you did they'd be up for a ban too surely?

If you're so certain that they are 'all the same' and can genuinely compare them to XL bullies can you explain why there haven't been more targeted laws against them as well? There hasn't because they not the same.
