Another XL Bully Attack

Vicious XL Bully attack leaves five-year-old boy with life-changing injuries and needing facial reconstruction surgery | Daily Mail Online

Little Teddy needed 100 stitches in his face but was lucky to escape with his life.

Is it unreasonable now to ask the Government to give a warning in the media, that children are to be kept away from these dogs? Not to enter a house or garden where they're known to be? Even if told that the dog is safe, which they are not.
This little chap was visiting a home with his family when it struck.

XL Bully attack leaves young boy needing facial reconstruction surgery

A five-year-old boy has been left with life-changing injuries following a vicious mauling by an XL Bully in Scotland. His traumatised family who helplessly watched on in horror now want the breed banned.

9 deaths by Labrador attacks in UK. Government figure. Does every dog attack end in death? The story I posted for was a child bitten but not killed.

Post your source please. 9 in how many years?

Because that's still looking paltry next to the XL bully mutants

The office for national statistics. All figures and records are clearly shown . Again not defending XL breed. All dogs are dangerous though. Media only reports what people will read or click onto. A story about a big bad bully gets people like you wound up and unable to read and understand a full post. I think all dogs and dog owners should be registered as it's the only way to stop people buying and breeding dogs as status symbols. Instead we get people who stigmatise only certain dogs as their little fluffy wouldn't hurt a fly , it's just the big bad breeds we need to destroy. Any dog will bite and can turn in an instant. National registered ownership with compulsory training to prove you are capable of looking after an animal is what I believe should happen.

People like me? You have lost a credibility I'm afraid. Grow up.

Grow up? Again showing your to emotional. How is people like you an insult? It was meant in a way to explain people who only believe banned dogs attack and kill. My point all along was to show that any dog can bite. The inbred XL breed should never have existed in the first place. Humans interbred them and humans bought them. Humans believe their little pet monster won't bite. My point all along was naive people don't realise any dog can attack a human and every day they do. The media don't report it though. It has to be a good headline and Yorkshire terrier bites toddlers ear off doesn't make a good story. Ask your postman which dog they fear most. It won't be a bully XL , because they are not abundant in this country.

You keep saying office for national statistics - can you actually post to the table? Because the information you are referring to appears to exist only in your head.

Its you that's unable to read and understand. But I'm not surprised by that. If you're still trying to pretend a small dog attack is comparable to a large dog attack.

And by your rudeness, I imagine that is why you are limited working with dogs, not other human beings. There's really no need to lash out when you're being challenged - unless you're a badly trained dog!

As a vegan, I want them all culled.

I am also vegan, and I would kill them all myself, from a safe distance, if I could.

BBC News - Two held as baby hurt in suspected XL bully attack
www.bbc.com/news/articles/c62zgng1k5yo

Once again....they act all devastated and suprised after it happens but it's too bloody late! If they cared that much they wouldn't have let a baby near an XL bully.
No-one can play the ignorance card in these situstions....the risks associated with those dogs are widely known and publicised.....WHY they are not a banned breed yet goodness knows! How many more injuries or deaths to innocent children will it take?!

QueenTweenandKingTeen · 13/12/2024 21:08

It's a miracle a baby survived being nannied by these XLs.

That is the sad and dangerous truth. I think a lot of bully defenders paint me as a dog hater. I volunteer with large abandoned breeds and don't feel any of them could kill me. Hurt maybe

But xl bullies? Cull.

ExplorerBee · 14/12/2024 01:27

There is a childminder local to us who owns an XL bully. Quite outspoken about how much she disagrees with the ban

https://www.thestar.co.uk/news/people/sheffield-mum-my-xl-bully-is-a-gentle-giant-loved-by-children-4500610

Whenever I see a news story about an XL attack I think of her and the kids in her care.

Toomanysquishmallows · 14/12/2024 05:29

@ExplorerBee , that is one childminder , I definitely wouldn’t use .

You have to question who would leave their kids with them, then.

Won't help, they can (and do) breed new varieties faster than the legislation to ban them.

So what? Ban varieties as they come along and muzzle and leash all dogs over a certain size. It’s not hard.

AlexaSetATimer · 14/12/2024 11:51

@SerendipityJane I think you've missed the point of my post. The first section was meant to be in bold as it was a quote from a previous poster. I was replying to her remark.

I was pointing out that more lab bites are recorded because of the vast popularity of the breed but that the rate of bites per breed would be much higher with something like an xl bully, even if the breed numbers are nowhere near.

You know something ?
I really don't care.

What I do care about is reducing - or even eliminating - instances of "dog bites person". Regardless of breed, owner, political affiliations, hairstyle or any other distractions people throw into the mix to prevent anything being done.

As long as we - as a society - ensure that it's more important that some (and a minority at that) folks access to owning a dog is more important than peoples safety, then there really is little point in this discussion.

Spondoolies · 14/12/2024 12:30

Bloody hell, she shouldn’t be allowed to care for kids, what a lunatic! I wouldn’t trust her judgment on any safety aspects let alone the dog.

The parents that send their children there are the ones that want looking at. These animals are so dangerous the law warrants that they need to be muzzled in a public place. In private, no such restrictions. The inevitable victims are children.

The animal should be banned and then culled. People found keeping them should face a lifetime ban from keeping any animal and if parents, a reference made to social services. They are negligent, possibly abusive people.

HildaHosmede · 14/12/2024 12:51

For those that bring an XL bully into their home that then attacks and injures or kills a child in the house, I strongly feel that criminal charges should be brought against the parents.

If I bought gun and left it loaded on the coffee table and my 7 year old then shot themself - I'm pretty sure I'd be charged with something. Endangerment/neglect/manslaughter or whatever. Bringing an XL bully into your home and allowing your children to play with it is no different.

I'm surprised that's legal - I would strongly suggest reporting her to the police or social services.

I agree. However despite what is warranted by the law they are still being walked in public with no muzzles and there are no doubt some that are unleashed.
There ought to be an outright ban, but if there was it would very likely be completely ignored with no consequences. So these shit-for-brains proto hominid cretins who own these dogs are ruling the roost🤬🤬🤬

Another attack... such a worry with the thousands and thousands of XL bullies that remain.. circa 35,000

Mrsbloggz · 15/03/2025 17:34

@Blueberrymuffino
The dog was destroyed by police, so that's something, also it was in a back garden so the victim is likely to have been an owner rather than an innocent passerby.
Still horrifying that these creatures are being kept as pets.

QueenTweenandKingTeen · 15/03/2025 18:15

It's happening on the regular. What on earth will it take for the government to ban this (umbrella) breed?
