Where is Kamala?

Just saw this post on X, and I tend to agree...

"Kamala lost as she campaigned - a coward who couldn't face the media, couldn't handle the pressure. Didn't even have the character required to concede on election night. Went home to sulk. The opposite of presidential material."

Really and truly was there nobody with any substance the Democrats could have put forward. What on earth did they expect. The bar was so low.

Oh she's going to be making a speech soon...

About time. The silence has been deafening

What a bitter post. I feel sorry for you.

Bellatrixpure · 06/11/2024 18:34

They usually call to congratulate the winner, wonder if she has managed to do this

x2boys · 06/11/2024 18:35

Well at leat she's not trying to suggest the election was rigged and starting riots....

DonnaSummet · 06/11/2024 18:36

I'm guessing she's knackered and very angry. Maybe needed some sleep a good cry and time to gather her thoughts.
She is only human.

Kangarude · 06/11/2024 18:37

As you’re not a fan of hers, why are you so bothered about where she is?

user1471517900 · 06/11/2024 18:38

You understand time differences right? It was only officially called very early this morning. She's doing a speech at a time when presumably all of America can tune in.

SallyForf · 06/11/2024 18:38

You are being very unreasonable to post here on AIBU.

goingdownfighting · 06/11/2024 18:38

I'm wondering to see if she is getting legal advice. Or considering a challenge.

WickedlyCharmed · 06/11/2024 18:38

She’s at home having a mad angry cry.

Drivingoverlemons · 06/11/2024 18:38

Having a rest?

MrBiscuits24 · 06/11/2024 18:39

Maybe give her a minute to compose herself?

mellongoose · 06/11/2024 18:39

She’s at home having a mad angry cry.

I thought we had these in supermarket car parks these days. Maybe she's there.

MiscellaneousSupportHuman · 06/11/2024 18:41

I think it's OK for her to take her time.

But I think it would have been better to make a speech sooner rather than later (get it all over and done with) then go and sleep/cry/whatever. But I expect she won't be seeking high office again, so it's no longer important to show she can walk the walk even in adversity.

On what basis?

LostTheMarble · 06/11/2024 18:42

Went home to sulk

Or went to collect herself as this is a huge (and in many people’s minds, negative) turn of political events, and what she says and does next could influence much of the coming few months. It’s not just the future, but a delicate balance between recognition that the Democrats are evidently failing the great heights of the first years that Obama was POTUS, whilst trying to be too angry with the USA’s utter heel digging when it comes to women trying to assume the top job by placing a literal convict/sexual assaulter in the position.

At least her immediate reaction wasn’t to try and cause some Mad Max dystopian fallout.

ShamblesRock · 06/11/2024 18:43

Maybe she is wisely abiding by the old adage

"Don't respond when you're angry"

Noodlesmumm · 06/11/2024 18:43

I think to not address her hardworking supporters is very poor show. Even a 5 minute short speech to say that a full speech would follow.

I had hoped she would win, but very disappointed. And I know Trump was a much worse loser 4 years ago.. but two wrongs don't make a right

Agree.

Didimum · 06/11/2024 18:46

Calm down, OP. It’s 1pm in Washington where she is.

hattie43 · 06/11/2024 18:46

There's nothing to be said really . She failed . The American people have rejected her and her party .

This. Its a sad day. Apart from him no one has won anything.

If the party speech writers hadn't done detailed scripts for what to say in just about every possible outcome, then they are failing in their role. Not good.

Slowtopic · 06/11/2024 18:48

both presidential candidates (and anyone in a similar position for PM etc) should
have a concession speech prepared. Good for humility and should be practiced, thanking the right people and offering congratulations. I am extremely irritated that she is behaving like a bad loser. Trump is the ultimate bad loser.

Hilary Clinton’s concession speech was great - really fantastic. And God it must have hurt but it was really excellent. And it’s the sort of things that swing voters remember the next time round.

LarkspurLane · 06/11/2024 18:48

You presumably got the election result you wanted.
Surely you can wait a few more hours for Kamala's speech?
