Where is Kamala?

Just saw this post on X, and I tend to agree...

"Kamala lost as she campaigned - a coward who couldn't face the media, couldn't handle the pressure. Didn't even have the character required to concede on election night. Went home to sulk. The opposite of presidential material."

Really and truly was there nobody with any substance the Democrats could have put forward. What on earth did they expect. The bar was so low.

I suppose if someone said we should have killed Hitler before he did what he did you would have found that wrong too? Of course you would have, the right love fascists. Trump is Hitler without the intelligence, surrounded by a swarm of brainwashed idiots, ready to do whatever he asks of them. So yes, I'll say it again, I can't wait for the prick to die.

Which policies did he enact during his previous term evidences this?

The MAGA ideology that seems to have taken over the GOP now, root and branch @Annabella92

Trump doesn't appear to have an ideaology - are you able to describe it?

She said MAGA, not Trump. MAGA does, although it is quite amorphous and ever changing/contradictory. The people who wrote Project 2025 also have an ideology - it comes across clearly in that document. Elon Musk and Peter Thiell also have an ideology (see Curtis Yarvin). No-one really knows what JD Vance really thinks because he is so oleaginous. And as you say, Donald Trump doesn't really have an ideology either except his belief in himself. So, there are at least 3 ideologies at play plus many more egos. And really, at this stage, I don't think its possible to know which will win out but none of them are good.
But I agree - when people talk about Trump's ideology its unhelpful because it could mean many different things.

Do you not remember the kids in cages? How about the mass deportation plan he's been harping on about? How about the general hatred and bigotry he stokes?

Last term he didn't do a whole lot, he just golfed and blatantly profited from the presidency, let's hope he's equally inept this time and finally just fucking dies.

biscuitandcake · 09/11/2024 20:57

I meant to add, while I don't think Trump is a fascist he isn't someone who believes in democracy particularly. MAGA types sort of do, though they have a funny way of "protecting" it. Project 2025 supporters don't believe in democracy or in the way America is currently organised. Curtis Yarvin (and by extension people like Musk and Thiel who follow his beliefs) also don't believe in democacy (Musk talks a lot about free speech which is important, you need free speech for democracy. But note that he doesn't talk that much about protecting democracy and democratic principles).
So, having the world's leading liberal democracy itself led by people who view liberal democracy as an inferior system isn't great. It doesn't automatically mean the US will collapse into dictatorship because there are checks and balances. But it isn't great - for America or for democracies elsewhere in the world.

Bless your cotton socks if you think Pelosi et al are not in it for personal enrichment. I also don't think a nation state having a border is the end of the world either and clearly nor does the electorate. Arguably the government only has one job...

There is no agreed on definition of democracy at this stage and the Democrats are happy enough to hack away at its pillars when it suits them. I don't think Musk and Thiel are exactly NRx but liberalism is failing badly and appears profoundly anti human. Anything is worth considering.

There is also "no agreed upon definition of a woman". Sophists the lot of you.

This isn't sophistry this is a straightforward fact. The idea that we live in anything approaching a democracy is ridiculous. Aristotle never saw democracies being feasible with populations over 10k. They're not. Voting is the equivalent of giving a 3 year old a toy steering wheel for car journeys. There are no electoral channels to get us out of this predicament. I don't want to live alongside people who don't know what a woman is and people who have different ideas don't want to live with me. Societies that can't agree on fundamentals are in deep trouble.
