Where is Kamala?

Just saw this post on X, and I tend to agree...

"Kamala lost as she campaigned - a coward who couldn't face the media, couldn't handle the pressure. Didn't even have the character required to concede on election night. Went home to sulk. The opposite of presidential material."

Really and truly was there nobody with any substance the Democrats could have put forward. What on earth did they expect. The bar was so low.

"Went home to sulk. The opposite of presidential material."

The person who said this must have no sense of irony whatsoever.

levantine · 06/11/2024 18:50

She's already rung him to congratulate him, presumably she is timing her speech for the US audience and not for mumsnetters?🙄

L0bstersLass · 06/11/2024 18:51

Bellatrixpure · 06/11/2024 18:34

They usually call to congratulate the winner, wonder if she has managed to do this

Yes she has. CNN have reported this.

BarMonaco · 06/11/2024 18:51

x2boys · 06/11/2024 18:35

Well at leat she's not trying to suggest the election was rigged and starting riots....

Exactly!

user1492538376 · 06/11/2024 18:52

I am dissapointed in the result - but I think she and the democrats are shocked at
losing. They looked confident and thought she would win.

Sad day for us all - at least she is not starting riots.

HEC2746 · 06/11/2024 18:53

If I were her I would just get absolutely blindingly, sobbingly, sing along to Pat Benettar drunk tonight, and that’s it.

EasternStandard · 06/11/2024 18:58

She was very up before the election so probably crashed when she realised

Kamala's speech

Westfacing · 06/11/2024 18:59

If Harris had won you can bet Trump wouldn't have phoned to congratulate her, or make any sort of concession speech.

frockandcrocs · 06/11/2024 18:59

Are you the same butter that was raving about that wanker, Trump?

MillyMichaelson · 06/11/2024 19:01

Noodlesmumm · 06/11/2024 18:43

I think to not address her hardworking supporters is very poor show. Even a 5 minute short speech to say that a full speech would follow.

I had hoped she would win, but very disappointed. And I know Trump was a much worse loser 4 years ago.. but two wrongs don't make a right

😂😂😂

Did you just call 'inciting an insurrection' and 'not giving a speech the very minute the result was called' two wrongs?!

Pull it together won't you.

Yes; ITV news reported on this. It sounded as if it had only just happened.

It's nearly 2pm in Washington DC, so I don't think it's the US news cycle that's driven the phone call timing, If concession speech is at 5pm (depending on which US time zone) then that fits rather better.

But getting it over and done with in one miserable lump this morning (and getting the lunchtime news) would have been a perfectly OK approach.

No need to belittle MNetters - or to assume that concerns about how a losing Democratic candidate chooses to portray herself in public does not come from Democrat supporters.

Werecat · 06/11/2024 19:01

DonnaSummet · 06/11/2024 18:36

I'm guessing she's knackered and very angry. Maybe needed some sleep a good cry and time to gather her thoughts.
She is only human.

If she couldn’t manage to concede and to give her own supporters - who has stayed up all night for her - a short speech that someone else would write for her anyway, that merely underlines her lack of suitability for the job.

They were deluded. It was pretty clear that Trump was the most likely winner.

Ludoo · 06/11/2024 19:05

It doesn’t look good

Apparently she has just called Trump but also very late !

Bumcake · 06/11/2024 19:05

Remember Trump didn’t even go to Biden’s swearing in, now that was an embarrassing case of sour grapes.

I agree that they are 2 wrongs.

Trump has been congratulated by world leaders and still KM hasn’t shown up.

Beekeepingmum · 06/11/2024 19:11

Maybe she is busy lining up her troops for a March on the capital - alla Trump 2020. Trump supporters saying she has no grace in defeat is absolute joke.

FergusSingsTheBIues · 06/11/2024 19:13

It’s massively unprofessional!

Well Trump couldn't bring himself to to congratulate Biden at all, or work with him for a smooth transition of power ,he incited riots instead ,But here we are four years later he's just won the election.

But how does that relate ?

Thought that the Democrats liked to ‘go high’

KH not doing that so far. .

Ytcsghisn · 06/11/2024 19:19

Probably being programmed with the latest dose of garbled mumbo jumbo that she normally comes out with.

Puzzledandpissedoff · 06/11/2024 19:20

I expect she won't be seeking high office again, so it's no longer important to show she can walk the walk even in adversity

I suspect this about sums it up, as in "there's nothing in it for me so sod you"

At the very least she could have used the scheduled speech to her faithful last night to thank them, but instead she just disappeared which was disappointing from an alleged professional

freddyfluffball · 06/11/2024 19:24

FergusSingsTheBIues · 06/11/2024 19:13

Unprofessional? In the context of Donald Trump? The consummate professional?
