Morning! You are doing amazingly!

nornironlady · 03/11/2024 07:25

Good morning everyone! So pleased to wake this morning to a new thread so we can continue this journey with you Laura. I am sending huge hugs to you today and I'm sad you are missing your children so badly. I honestly can't begin to imagine. I do believe we have to go through horrible things in life so we can truly value the good when it comes. It will for you. My belly is shouting for boiled eggs and toast now 😋

Morning lovely
How are you doing today? Did you sleep last night?....I'm hoping so x
I'm not up to much today, might go for a bit of a walk and am thinking of re watching some Outlander episodes....another one of my favourite, I watch way too much tv😂

Have you got your list ready for your trip to tesco tomorrow? It will just be nice to get out and have some company maybe xx

Well I am awake early, to say hello to thread 2!
Got me thinking of a friend who thought she had lost her three children under similar circumstances.
It took a while, she’s had physical illnesses to deal with, but watching her get her life back has been something else.
She built herself back up. Her children are fine and young adults now. As well as writing about her experiences she also helps deliver initiatives on DV to
all sorts of significant people.
She goes into schools and talks to young people about recognising the signs of controlling behaviour.
I can remember the start of her journey to freedom she started writing everything down in little notebooks she kept in her hold-all.
It really can be done. And the family and friends who had been convinced she was the problem were ashamed that they had believed otherwise. She took it in her stride and bridges were rebuilt.
I think when you know the core of you is decent, you go
with that, and you keep returning to it. It’s easy to get tricked by someone you trust, but in the end your own decency will rear its head.
Anyway, that’s a bit deep for 6 am, but I have been inspired by reading the stories of other posters who have made it through.
Morning, cookie monsters! 🍪

Hi PeggyMitchellsCameo,
How are you?
I’ve just spent the last 3 hours trying to charge my phone , my charger wasn’t working but then started to thankfully. Is it just me or does anyone else blow into their phone if something is wrong with it?
Wow . Your friend’s story is very inspirational. I’m so pleased to hear she got her life back and is now helping other people look for the signs of DV. She sounds like a very strong woman!
I too have started to write things down, I have many notes in my notebook on my phone and lots of lists. I even have a list of everything ex did so when I falter a little bit I can read that and remind myself what he was like and what he said/did to me.
Sometimes in my darkest hours I do think I’m a terrible person , I think I must be and when your told multiple times that you are you do start to believe it but it’s hidden deep inside me at the moment but I do know deep deep down that I’m not xx

you are NOT a bad person, even the tamest cat will fight back when continually baited. You are doing amazingly and you're children will see how strong you have been xx

Hi nornironlady,
How are you today?
Thank you for your support and thank you for the hugs . They are very much appreciated.
I hope you enjoyed your boiled eggs and toast . I’m just having a cup of tea.
I didn’t sleep too well last night and dreamt of my children all night , I also dreamt of ex and my parents. It was strange dream about ex though because before the dreams used to be when times were good , well lasts nights dream were of the person he is now.
Your very right about having to go through the bad to get to the good and I keep thinking that once I’m in my home it will all be worth it xx

Afternoon @Munchyseeds2
Sorry didn’t respond earlier (charger problems)
I didn’t sleep very well tbh , kept dreaming when I did too.
I’ve never watched Outlander. What’s it about?
Ive got my list ready , I have a hospital appointment in morning with neurology so the ambulance is picking me up anytime from 8am. I’m not sure what time mental health team will be coming but I will sort that out tomorrow. It will be lovely to have some company and be able to talk to somebody in real life xx

Hi @AdmittowearingCrocs
I didn’t sleep well nor did I have any breakfast lol 😂 I’m all cookied out too so no more cookies for today. I’m looking forward to going to Tesco to get some healthy food.
It’s dull here today too, loads of walkers around the lake though. It’s a very nice view, I keep thinking it looks like an ice rink xx

It's really easy to get some dust or fluff in the charging port that is enough to stop it working, I blow on mine quite often.

As far as believing in yourself....every morning, look in the mirror and tell yourself over and over, (out loud) that you are a good person and why ( caring, funny, loveable etc)
You will feel a bit daft for sure but no will hear you!!
It helps to re programme the brain❤xx

Thank you spoonfulofmustard,
That means a lot. I did actually fight back a few times (not psychically) but then ex would get his phone out and record me when he pushed me over the edge. So I stopped fighting back in the end xx
