Pizza Hut Buffet

Posting here to hopefully get some quick answers.

So I will be going to Pizza Hut for the buffet, at the weekend with my child for one of her friend's parties.
There's a few of us going, and I've had a look online and at weekends it is 15.99 per adult and 10.99 for children !
I am absolutely not going to eat 15.99 worth of pizza! And I doubt my child will eat £11 worth.
Would I be unreasonable to just pay for my child and maybe have a slice of pizza or 2?
I know they charge different per head to stop this. But how do they police this ??
It's not a huge deal, but I would definitely like to know before I go, and like to know if other people do this or not ?
Thanks !

Just buy a pizza from the menu and share with your daughter. You don’t have to have the buffet

KittyPup · 14/10/2024 17:48

No you can’t pay for a child and then eat a few slices of their pizza. You clearly can’t afford to eat out. Don’t embarrass yourself as you’ll get caught out. Take them to McDonalds for a happy meal instead.

DurhamDurham · 14/10/2024 17:48

If the Pizza Hut staff see you eating the pizza they'll charge you, even if it's just one slice.

ahemfem · 14/10/2024 17:49

The buffet is amazing but yes you can pay for your own. You must not so much as even LOOK at the buffet of pizza or take any off anyone's plate or they will charge you

MargaretThursday · 14/10/2024 17:50

Not unreasonable to just pay for your dd, but very unreasonable to then have a slice or two.

Just buy one pizza between you instead.

It used to have free drinks and a basic ice cream when I took mine so was more than worth it.

Well that's rude 🤣 I can definitely afford to go, otherwise I wouldn't be going..
it's not embarrassing either. All I'd eat is a slice or 2 of pizza, and I don't think £15.99 is justifiable for that amount. But about say 5/6 slices between us is definitely more so the £11 mark.
How do they police this ? Do they have a staff member to watch each table ?? 😆

That seems like a better idea I think!

I doubt the birthday girl will change venue to suit a friends mums budget

xyz111 · 14/10/2024 17:52

Pizza Hut pizza is horrendous anyway. If it's a friends party, aren't they providing food?

Of course you would be U. Given the buffet is all you can eat then if that was OK, only one person per group need ever pay. Its £15.99 whether you eat 2 slices or 20. So if you think you won't get enough value to pay that, you will just have to go without.

SometimesCalmPerson · 14/10/2024 17:53

It’s tacky to steal pizza at a child’s birthday, but you could probably get away with eating her crusts.

makemeanoffericantrefuse · 14/10/2024 17:53

'it's not embarrassing either'

It really is. I feel embarrassed for you.

It's a business - just pay for your own food
or don't eat. Simple.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 14/10/2024 17:53

They will notice. They don't watch every table, but if a person at a table say they aren't eating then they only have to watch that 1 person.

I do agree that £15.99 is a lot for an adults lunch, but you can just decide not to pay. You'd probably be better off buying a large pizza and sharing, then take home any thats left

Pandasnacks · 14/10/2024 17:54

@IAKnowyou yes of course the staff watch out for CFs! If the business gives away free buffets they'd go out of business. Maybe order a side instead? Or just get a salad bar?

How is your DD going to react if everyone else is going up to the buffet to lots of different pizza and pasta and they have to wait for the one they are sharing with you to arrive?

No, it's a quiet thing with a few of us after another Venue instead of an official "party"

boulevardofbrokendreamss · 14/10/2024 17:55

Why are you going to the party and are the parents not paying for the children?

No you can't do what you suggest.

OP if you haven't paid for it, it's stealing... it's not rocket science

Spottydotty268 · 14/10/2024 17:56

This offer is currently running @IAKnowyou
but you do have to spend £10 to get it.

@Itsmeamandaberry oh how awful for you to think of another person asking a harmless question.
I could never be friends with someone as judgemental as YOU.

DustyAmuseAlien · 14/10/2024 17:57

If ypu are sat at the table you will have to pay the per-head price. If you don't want to pay don't go. If you don't think the food they serve is worth the price they charge don't go. There's no obligation to go but YWBVU to try to get away without paying. If you go, don't eat any breakfast and arrive there starving. Make sure you eat your money's worth by eating so much you don't want to eat again till breakfast time next day.

Or go somewhere that isn't an all-you-can-eat buffet.

NissanNancy · 14/10/2024 17:57

You realise that’s stealing don’t you? Would you take food from anywhere else and just not pay because you think it’s not worth the money? I personally think you go and pay or just don’t go - I think it’s very unreasonable that some poor minimum wage hospitality worker has to go to work and deal with customers who pull stunts like this
