Am I too old for a Pandora charm bracelet?

I'm touching 40. I wanted a Pandora charm bracelet about 15-20 years ago when either they became really popular or I first noticed them. I didn't bother as they were expensive ish (especially to me, a pauper at the time) and really common.

Anyway, I recently bought my 13 year old daughter one (around the age range I feel they're manufactured for) and I've been completely taken in by their marketing and how good they look on DD, her friends, the store girls all of whom are a good 2,close to 3 decades younger than me and the idea of cute little treats and easy gifts for everyone.

Is it a kids thing and I'm past it or are they still cute? Is there a grown up version? 😂😂😂

I think it's ok to keep and wear one if you've had it from a young age but to buy one now is a bit "live, laugh, love"???

If you want one, get one. I know lots of people say that but life's too short to not get things that will make you happy. Especially as you can now afford them!

lovemelongtime · 11/10/2024 11:16

Yes sorry I think so. You know in your heart, otherwise you wouldn't be asking.

Nodancingshoes · 11/10/2024 11:18

I've got one. It never occured to me I might be too old! I'm in my 40's. Get one!

Magnastorm · 11/10/2024 11:19

If you like them and it will make you happy, get one. Who the fuck cares what other people think?

dothehokeycokey · 11/10/2024 11:19

I have three all with different (not full)charms on them.

I'm mid forties

mynewhouse · 11/10/2024 11:21

I have one and I’m your age. It’s a very simple silver bracelet and I wear one charm at a time. I like it and I get lots of compliments on it. But I really don’t care what people think, if I like something I wear it and have always been this way.

easylikeasundaymorn · 11/10/2024 11:22

They aren't my personal taste but I know women 40s and above who have them. I'm sure I've seen that they make '40' '50' etc and wine/cocktail charms so they can't just be for teens!

Besides which who cares what other people think? Have you ever looked at another woman's jewellery and judged her (not "I don't like that but actually judged her) for it? If not why would you assume anyone would care about yours. They also wouldn't know if it was something you'd bought recently or one you'd had for ages.

ComtesseDeSpair · 11/10/2024 11:22

If you like it then you’re not too old for it. Life is too short to spend it worrying over what other people think - and frankly, I think reaching a stage where you do what you like and no longer worry what strangers think about your belongings or how you dress is exactly the definition of maturity.

Ameliasvocalfry · 11/10/2024 11:23

What? I've never heard that there's an age limit on charm bracelets! I'm considerably older than the OP and wear one.

Toomanysquishmallows · 11/10/2024 11:24

I’m 51 and I’ve got one .

LolaJ87 · 11/10/2024 11:26

I'm late thirties and wear one, my mam has one too (in her sixties).

Halfscottish · 11/10/2024 11:27

Just do it! If you like it, you deserve it!

MoreCardassianThanKardashian · 11/10/2024 11:27

Wow a lot of responses very quickly!

To the people who say they have one - when did you get it? If I already had it, I think I'd proudly wear it but if I buy it now, I feel like I'm trying to be young and cool. I think @lovemelongtime has it.

I have one though I've not worn it in a few years mind as all the charms went a bit odd and even though I bought their cleaning kit they still never looked the same. If you want one, get one. Do things that bring you joy, who cares what other people think.

I think it's the brand rather than the item.

@MoreCardassianThanKardashian , I think it’s a real shame you feel you have to ask if you’re too old for something. My mil who’s in her 70,s has a Pandora bracelet. I was around 40 when I got mine .

Cardboardeaux · 11/10/2024 11:30

I'm 41 and I have a charm bracelet! They're not to everyone's taste but I love mine. It's from Trollbeads though, which is (I think) much nicer than Pandora at a similar price point.

Nodancingshoes · 11/10/2024 11:30

I've had it a few years. My kids buy me charms for my birthday and Christmas. I don't wear it alot - just on nights out really.

KnottedTwine · 11/10/2024 11:31

If you want one, get one. Who gives a flying fig if it's fashionable or aimed at X age group. Life is FAR too short to worry about this sort of thing. Also look at Nomination bracelets which are a similar idea.

MonsteraMama · 11/10/2024 11:32

I'm 33 and wouldn't get one, but I don't like charm bracelets so of course I wouldn't!

My MIL is late 50's and she has one and loves it.

It doesn't matter what anyone else thinks, there's no age limit on jewelry, clothes, hairstyles, whatever. Wear what makes you happy, you have one tiny life on this earth, don't waste it worrying if someone will judge you for a bracelet

theresnoonequitelikegrandma · 11/10/2024 11:33

My children bought me one for my 50th birthday!......which was nearly 15 years ago (eek! 😳) and I still love it! 🤣🤣

Timetoheal4good · 11/10/2024 11:34

We bought one for a family members 70th!! It looks very classy and she loved it.

A number of friends and family have them and they are all different ages.

Get the bracelet.

Cosyblankets · 11/10/2024 11:34

You're old enough to not care what people think.
I don't like them but it's not me wearing it. There'll be things I've got that you don't like. Nothing to do with anyone else. I wouldn't even notice

SunsetSkylane · 11/10/2024 11:36

Oh who cares what other people think?!

If it's the brand you like why not get a different piece? Or if you do want a charm bracelet, get one, love it, and wear it proudly!
