Am I too old for a Pandora charm bracelet?

I'm touching 40. I wanted a Pandora charm bracelet about 15-20 years ago when either they became really popular or I first noticed them. I didn't bother as they were expensive ish (especially to me, a pauper at the time) and really common.

Anyway, I recently bought my 13 year old daughter one (around the age range I feel they're manufactured for) and I've been completely taken in by their marketing and how good they look on DD, her friends, the store girls all of whom are a good 2,close to 3 decades younger than me and the idea of cute little treats and easy gifts for everyone.

Is it a kids thing and I'm past it or are they still cute? Is there a grown up version? 😂😂😂

I think it's ok to keep and wear one if you've had it from a young age but to buy one now is a bit "live, laugh, love"???

Wow a lot of responses very quickly!

To the people who say they have one - when did you get it? If I already had it, I think I'd proudly wear it but if I buy it now, I feel like I'm trying to be young and cool. I think @lovemelongtime has it.

I got mine age 46 as a gift for my wedding from my best maid....she put the wee bridge and groom charm on it. Since then I've been gifted another couple of charms.

Go for it !

I have 3 full Pandora and Chamilia charm bracelets, the kids used to buy me a charm for birthday and Christmas until I asked them to stop! I wear them most days and I am 69.

ladymactíre · 11/10/2024 12:26

I have one and I'm older than you. My DDs got it for me and I love it. Now they're getting me charms :) I don't think it has anything to do with age. I love silver and I'll wear it

dutysuite · 11/10/2024 12:26

Who cares what other people think! I have a Pandora bracelet, my mother bought it for me one year for Christmas and then every year she’d buy me charms… I had to tell her to stop because I never wear it, I’m just not really a bracelet person but my sister wears hers and she’s in her 40s.

They aren't marketed at kids. Get one if you want.

They are a bit dated now though.

They’re having a resurgence with Gen Z.

Go ahead and get one, OP. I’m surprised age is even an issue here; maybe it’s different in the UK, but in the US, I think you’re almost more likely to see them on older women than younger women.

Pandora isn’t really very cool OP @MoreCardassianThanKardashian

Hoplolly · 11/10/2024 13:20

You've just inspired me to dig mine out and try cleaning it again, thanks OP. I don't care if it's cool or not. I have some lovely charms that have been picked out by my kids. That's more important than anything else!

LisaD1 · 11/10/2024 13:30

I’m 52 and have one, I love mine as my DH and DD’s buy charms for it for birthdays and Christmas, it means they have something easy to buy and I have a gorgeous bracelet full of things they’ve chosen.

ClementineSatsuma · 11/10/2024 13:31

I got one for my 60 year old mum. I think some of their charms are lovely and meaningful.
I think they look good on all ages.

Plump82 · 11/10/2024 11:16

If you want one, get one. I know lots of people say that but life's too short to not get things that will make you happy. Especially as you can now afford them!

Agree with this.

98% of my stuff is nice and in the “best possible taste” but I have a few things I know are cheesy / tacky but I love them and give zero fucks what some rando on the street thinks about that…

RoseDog · 11/10/2024 13:37

I got one for my 30th birthday and it got filled by the time I was 40 and got another for my 40th, I'm 42 and I wear the second one everyday, it only has 3 charms this far.

My dd 21 also has 2 she rarely wears her due to her job but between us we have no charms the same also the actual bracelets are different, she also has loads of the rings and earrings but I couldn't see my self wearing them, although I do think they are nice they are not my taste.

DustyMaiden · 11/10/2024 13:39

I’m 62 I’ve got one . I think they are ridiculously expensive but the DGC buy charms to remember various trips and occasions. It’s a nice keepsake.

Notsureinlife · 11/10/2024 13:42

I'm fifty. I've got one.
Only issue I found .... they are addictive, always buying charms, then you need another bracelet and so it continues lol.

Katkins17 · 11/10/2024 13:49

I'm in my 50's and I love mine.
It didn't even enter my brain that I might be deemed 'too old!'
It's utterly bizarre that a charm bracelet is inappropriate for someone my age.

If I was wearing a knicker grazing mini skirt, or was dressed like a goth ... someone might raise an eyebrow ... but a piece of jewellery ...???
NAH... buy one, wear it and enjoy it.

Only ultra judgemental people will have something to say... and really ... do those people even matter ????

Bewildened · 11/10/2024 13:51

My MIL and DH’s grandma both have them, and they are in their 60s and 90s!

Nothanks17 · 11/10/2024 13:55

Im approaching 30 and have a star wars pandora bracelet.

Some (probably like mine) might be seen younger but they are for all ages

TheFormidableMrsC · 11/10/2024 13:58

Of course you can wear one! I wear one and I'm 55! Indeed I have two different types from Pandora, both 40th birthday gifts. They are not filled with charms, just a couple of special ones each and form part of a stack I wear. Honestly wear what you want. I can't believe anybody would think it's weird!

TheFormidableMrsC · 11/10/2024 13:59

lovemelongtime · 11/10/2024 11:16

Yes sorry I think so. You know in your heart, otherwise you wouldn't be asking.

Why??

krustykittens · 11/10/2024 14:27

I am 51 and have one that is packed with charms. I adore mine, it is nearly full of charms bought for me by my husband and children and it makes me smile when I look at it. Many of my charms are not Pandora, however, there are lots of jewellers out there doing beautiful charms that fit Pandora bracelets and offer better value for money. I am a writer and love folklore, so my family have sourced some stunning charms over the years to reflect that, as well as some beautiful Pandora charms. My favourite is a dangling Dumbo, whose ears flap. My daughters bought it for me for Mother's Day because I always tear up during the Baby Mine scene! It's a very personal piece of jewellery to me and anyone who got sneery about it would get short shrift! You are NEVER too old for something that makes you happy, OP.

Maddy70 · 11/10/2024 14:29

I don't like them personally but if you want one get one!

Kitkat1523 · 11/10/2024 14:30

Get yourself one

Getitwright · 11/10/2024 14:37

I think they look nice with minimal charms, perhaps a couple that are special to the wearer. They are just a bracelet, amongst many different kinds of bracelets. There’s few things age related I would put a block on if I like them, beyond anything that would make the wearer look strange or vulgar. Pandora do lots of different designs. As do Swarovski, Coeur de Lion, etc…. Brand chasers have never had it so good.

Pigeonqueen · 11/10/2024 14:42

Genuinely surprised at this. If anything where I am it’s the people in their 40s and 50s (like me 🤣) who wear them. Dd is 21 and can’t stand them! Just wear what you like.

TheFairyCaravan · 11/10/2024 14:45

Just wear what you want. If you like it, who cares what anyone else thinks?

I’ve got 3 Pandora bracelets btw, all different styles. had to ask people to stop buying me charms because it got ridiculous and I cant wear them all at once.

KendraTheVampyrSlayer · 11/10/2024 15:01

I got one for my 45th birthday! My mum got one for Christmas last year, she's 67!
