DH called me a pathetic b****

Our neighbours sent some cupcakes with my son when he returned from a play date. . Unfortunately, they weren't particularly nice so I threw them away; DS and DH aren't particularly fond of cakes so wouldn't have eaten them.

I mentioned this to DS in passing when he asked where the cupcakes were. A few days later, when over their house, he told the neighbours that I threw them away.

It's caused some friction with the neighbours and they have made it clear DS is no longer welcome at their house, which has left him feeling very upset.

DH has placed the blame squarely on me, calling me a bitch, amongst other things.

I know I shouldn't have said anything but I think swearing and being abusive isn't acceptable.

I can’t believe I need to write this, I really can’t. Do you understand there is a difference between immediately and a few days? Thay there is a wide space of time between the two?

What’s your point?

There is no evidence to suggest that they had been sat there for days and that was the reason why she threw them out. Why are you like a dog with a bone about a piece of information that you’ve fabricated that has no relevancy to the thread

Is there any evidence she threw them out as soon as she got them?

Thanks @Wheredidileavemycarkeys . Apparently what they say is fact and they don’t have to provide any evidence. All I said was that we don’t know how long they were sat for. Cup cakes become stale very quickly if left out, in my experience.

StormingNorman · 01/10/2024 15:51

Piouspenny · 01/10/2024 14:40

No, the mother made them. I admit, I was silly to tell my DC that I'd thrown them away but they were not nice.

When you tell it like it is, do you care or realise they you could be hurting people? Not even the people you are critiquing but your husband, your son and even yourself.

Maybe he should start scoffing cakes from now so that OP can see he likes them.

Maybe he would, if he got half a chance 😁

“They were not nice

what is not nice? I need help with this -

poorly decorated?
small or big?
too homemade looking - no master chef vibes?
taste bad? (under impression OP did not put them near her mouth)
Not nice color?

Help me know what it means for homemade cupcakes to be “not nice”

Hyperbowl · 01/10/2024 16:38

Chocolatebuttonsandprosseco · 01/10/2024 15:25

I don’t think anyone said she did?

Thank you. No I didn’t say that. The poster in question has been banging on about it repeatedly even though there’s no evidence to suggest either and it adds literally no relevance to the post. It’s just nonsense because they are determined to paint the OP as a saint by coming out with stuff that hasn’t even been stated.

Apparently they were stale. 🤷🏻‍♀️

I haven’t actually. I think you’ve confused me with someone else?

NiftyKoala · 01/10/2024 16:47

From OP's own replies her honestly rubs people the wrong way. That's all well and good but now it is affecting her son which is very sad. I'd be making some changes to how I talk to people to avoid that.

waterygrave · 01/10/2024 16:48

Hyperbowl · 01/10/2024 16:43

Gosh, should have said they were … STALE.

Something does smell fishy about the circumstances around these not nice cupcakes ….

Considering OP actually greedy and ate them all and conjured up the “not nice”. Her DH saw the crumbs on her chin and lashed out because the b. once again ate all the cakes and lied about it.

Josette77 · 01/10/2024 16:59

OP did you eat one? How do you know they weren't nice?

If your dh, neighbours, and inlaws struggle with your " honesty " have you considered it's a you problem?

You say your DH is more sensitive than others but if that were true why do other people struggle with you?

bringslight · 01/10/2024 17:38

Wait, just occured to me. The husband is shagging the neighbour's wife, her son is poster husbands son

This thread is a hoot..

Our neighbours sent some cupcakes with my son when he returned from a play date. . Unfortunately, they weren't particularly nice so I threw them away; = they were on the side for a few days, no one bothered to eat them and they went stale so I threw them away.

I bet @Tellysavelas @Wheredidileavemycarkeys are never in the same room together.. both seem to be weirdly fixating on the timing of the 'throwing away', without realising that it doesn't matter WHEN they were thrown away, the husband doesn't even seem bothered about the throwing away.. so why do you two care?

He is annoyed at OP for telling the boy they weren't very nice and for telling the boy that she had thrown them away, he suggested she could have been more economical with the truth, so as not to put him in an awkward position. SHE ADMITS she shouldn't have told DS what she did. But then she still blew up at her DH and called him 'ridiculous' and 'wet' for having an opinion on it, they had an argument and he has then called her a bitch.

Seeing as OP has admitted she was wrong to us on here, I wonder if she has apologised for being spiteful about the cakes, putting their son in the position she did with his friend of having to lie or tell the truth, and then starting an argument with her DH over it. My guess is no.

Piouspenny · 01/10/2024 10:12

Just really him; he is incredibly sensitive and thinks others are the same.
His anger was about me telling DS the cupcakes weren't nice, he said I should have told a white lie. I said he was being wet, and it just escalated.
I agree we are very ill suited to each other.

but he was correct . You should have told a white lie. You have fell out with your neighbours. Made things awkward for your son and had an argument with your dh . All because of cake.
So maybe you should be more civil to people .
Also calling someone wet is very mean . So sounds like you both call each other names .

I’m not weirdly fixated an anything. I just pointed out that we don’t know that the cakes weren’t there for a few days.

That was literally my only comment on the matter.

Josette77 · 01/10/2024 17:58

If they were in fact stale and had been out a few days do you not think the OP would have mentioned it by now?

PuddlesPityParty · 01/10/2024 17:58

Wheredidileavemycarkeys · 01/10/2024 07:14

But calling someone a bitch is ok?

If she has been one then yeah! Ffs.
