How on earth are we allowing porn like this to access

Surely aggressive and violent porn and all the other filth must be affecting people? I worry so much about what children get to see. Surely it must have an effect on men, it’s just so shocking the things that are out there.
We never had access to this before, just some magazines, Page 3, a few videos…what’s available now surely must have a psychological affect on people

has this literally just occurred to you as being a profoundly disturbing issue?

NahNotHavingIt · 30/09/2024 18:12

Well yes, obviously.

Has this suddenly come up as an issue for you and your family OP?

Puttheneedleontherackets · 30/09/2024 18:13

Of course it’s not only just occurred to me, but it seems it’s getting worse and worse and no one does anything about it

I agree and worry about what kids are seeing and how young they're seeing it as I doubt all parents put things in place on their devices.

Porn is becoming more and more sick too. Lots of women dressed up clearly to look like prepubescent girls in pink knickers and soft toys around them. Lots of 'family' type porn too. It's really disturbing. You have to click that you're over 18 on sites now but what good does that do? It let's you in if you say you are.

redalex261 · 30/09/2024 18:19

Agree - it’s pretty pervasive. Had to capture my 16yo and her friend in car (trapped!) to tell them I’d had a look on Pornhub and what’s on show there is not what normal sex looks like. Choking, spitting, anal, hair grabbing and other potentially degrading stuff isn’t what you should be expected to be doing. My daughter of course was (as usual) horrified by her mum with no boundaries (admitting to pornhub investigation) ! 🤪 But I got my point across and had a chat with them about boundaries.

Puttheneedleontherackets · 30/09/2024 18:20

I don’t her how it can be legal to include freaky family type scenario and basically rape and choking it’s all vile and very disturbing. Surely this has to have a disturbing psychological effect on people, especially men and how they view women and how women can be treated

I've certainly seen the change as I grew up when porn was the odd VHS or top shelf magazine.

People getting rid off all pubic hair was one of the first changes I noticed and then the sex doll looks began to infiltrate society. First it was breast surgery, then the large lips.

TV shows have become far more explicit as people have become desensitised. BDSM and kinks which were practically unheard of are now expected in bed and anal has become normalised. This has resulted in several murders of women whose murderers have used the rough sex defence. Women and girls are also suffering from medical issues relating to anal sex.

Children have been deeply affected, I've heard of primary school children acting out scenes from porn and sexual assault has become more commonplace in schools.

Porn alongside the rise of the manosphere has led to open misogyny towards women and girls. There are reports from female teachers who are being called names in class and disrespected by boys.

Women and girls are also being abused on social media and being asked for videos and pictures which are then uploaded online. We now have the scourge of revenge porn. Women are being filmed and photographed without consent and these images are shared without their knowledge.

miniaturepixieonacid · 30/09/2024 18:26

Horrendous. A really high proportion of children have watched porn by age 11 (can't remember the percentage). I've still never seen any and I'm 40! Just hearing about what's out there is bad enough. I think it should be illegal - to make it, 'act' in it or watch it.

The internet has done men no favours

Pigeonqueen · 30/09/2024 18:29

It’s far too easily accessed now. One click is all it takes.

When I rule the world I will ban the internet for men and children. They simply can't use it sensibly

PattiSmithsPattis · 30/09/2024 18:52

It isn't only men watching porn. As much as some people would like to believe that. But I think women are watching different porn to men maybe.
But no children should be able to access it. Ever.

Imperrysmum · 30/09/2024 18:56

Why not put a restriction on the wifi and your kids sim cards?

My wifi and sim card was accidentally put onto under 18 child safe plan (even thought im 35) and I can’t access anything remotely porny, I cba to ring them to unblock it. Cant even go on Anne summers website 😂

I agree OP it’s frightening.

Recent statistics show (and we know these can be underreported) that the highest group to experience sexual violence in a relationship is girls aged between 14-17yrs old.

41% of girls in this age bracket have experienced this.

Forty. One. Percent.

@Puttheneedleontherackets

''How on earth are we allowing porn like this to access''

You need to answer that with who is it that is permitting it to be viewed by under 18's. That of course are the parents. You can make any number of things illegal, like supplying pornography to under 18's or those under 16 having sex. But unless the parents take responsibility, I'm not sure how you could stop it.

I genuinely believe removing blanket internet access and smart phones to under 16's would go a long way to helping their all round mental health. Put the laptop into a family room and not the bedroom.

Toseland · 30/09/2024 19:40

Porn is leading to truly awful times for women and children. Women are suffering from men's selfish excesses.
We are seeing women and children raped and drugged, horrifically murdered and our leaders do nothing.
Or worse than that, they remove funding and declare that men can use women's single-sex spaces if they say they are women, removing the last of the safeguards.
These are the most misogynist times I've lived through (since the 70s). I am scared for the future.

Haroldwilson · 30/09/2024 19:40

Well, the argument for it is personal freedom and consenting adults being allowed to do what they want. And not wanting censorship or the government deciding what people can or can't see.

I don't like it or watch it but I'm not sure I want the government to tell people what to do either.

Feelinglow27 · 30/09/2024 19:42

If there was ever proof that men are still in charge of the world its the fact that this porn is made and freely accessible even to children, and no one in charge gives a fuck.

How about the people in charge of the children accessing it take responsibility. The law is clear, Under 18's should not view pornography. If parents are unwilling to police their own children doing something illegal. What is the rest of society expected to do.

Stop using phones and the internet as surrogate babysitters and parent your kids.

GreenSkiesAtNight · 30/09/2024 20:03

Just checked and my mobile provider blocks 18+ websites as standard until you ask for it to be unblocked. That's comforting to know.
