How on earth are we allowing porn like this to access

Puttheneedleontherackets · 30/09/2024 18:10

Surely aggressive and violent porn and all the other filth must be affecting people? I worry so much about what children get to see. Surely it must have an effect on men, it’s just so shocking the things that are out there.
We never had access to this before, just some magazines, Page 3, a few videos…what’s available now surely must have a psychological affect on people

@ATenShun what proof do you have they haven't?

Marblesbackagain · 06/10/2024 19:25

OonaStubbs · 06/10/2024 00:35

But we already do ban things.

Yes but the criteria isn't what some bloody killjoy doesn't think we should watch!

There is set agreed criteria . Leave my Saw films alone .

NowImNotDoingIt · 06/10/2024 19:21

@ATenShun what proof do you have they haven't?

As a large proportion of content comes from film studios, they will have processes in place for the actors. Age confirmation, what they will be expected to perform etc.

Fluufer · 06/10/2024 20:48

ATenShun · 06/10/2024 17:43

@Puttheneedleontherackets Let me ask you. What do you consider vile language or violent sex? Do you believe women shouldn't have autonomy over their own bodies and cannot make the decision if they want to appear in videos containing 'rough sex'? What proof do you have that they were coerced into it by threats?

How do you, as a consumer of porn, have any idea what consent has or hasn't been obtained? You can't possibly ever know for sure.
All the horrid things that we know happen in fucking Hollywood, do you really not think it happens in seedy porn studios?

Puttheneedleontherackets · 06/10/2024 22:21

@ATenShun Im not going to say what I consider vile language or violent sex, I think that’s pretty apparent to everyone isn’t it?!
Just going around in circles here, it’s boring

Presumably you have proof of this and of course have reported to the authorities and hosting site? If not it is about as true as your previous points of reference.

@Puttheneedleontherackets Well know. What you may find offensive could be totally different to what I or the majority of the Country think hence why I asked. Likewise the situation where the bad words are being said is important too. In the Saw films I'd expect bad language. In childrens tv obviously not.

Well actually the issue is we all have completely different opinions hence I assume why the other poster is questioning you.

We have people practically saying consenting adult sex is illegal on some threads because they literally do anything other than PIV. Or if a woman likes xyz then she has been brainwashed, completely ignoring the fact that their judgement is the issue not the woman who has free choice.

That's why further up the thread I suggested we need to use very clear language.

There is a legitimate open porn industry they have the equivalent of their oscars, merchandise, stars etc. this may not be to your taste but given the size of the industry I would imagine it obviously is to millions world wide.

At the beginning of each film the actors show their id, present their clean bill of health and state their boundaries. The women earn about 10 times what a man earns.

Now before you throw accusations at how low morally I must be to know this. I know this because I watched a series on channel 4 Porn a family business back in the very early 2000s.

It actually was open about the different tiers. It also had a lot of interviews with the actors, interesting watching from a human interest point of view.

Puttheneedleontherackets · 06/10/2024 23:59

@Marblesbackagain Great. The whole industry isn’t like this though, obviously.

Back to how the derogatory language used and violent sex acts and how they could influence men and how this must be skewing with peoples thoughts? You don’t see how it could be?

The issue is it may or may not. The reality is it will always depend on the individual.

And again that language may be completely consentual between two or more individuals.

Marblesbackagain · 07/10/2024 00:20

The issue isn't the language the issue is consent.

OonaStubbs · 07/10/2024 01:52

The issue to me is the effect that it has on society. Which is entirely negative as far as I can see.

I didn't claim to have proof of anything. I asked how, you, as a viewer can ever possibly know that any kind of consent has been obtained? As a consumer of porn, what kind of checks can you make?

TheaBrandt · 07/10/2024 07:33

If it can’t be banned it needs to be strictly regulated and made harder to access like anything else that damages people (alcohol/ nicotine / cocaine).

The fact it’s freely available to every 12 year old in the playground however diligent poor parents try to be and it’s shaping a generations sexuality is just not ok. I can’t see how any rational adult could argue with that.

TheaBrandt · 07/10/2024 07:34

It’s damaging to women and children. And to young men actually. Again how can you argue otherwise? It obviously is. The fact a few women enjoy it too is immaterial.

Marblesbackagain · 07/10/2024 07:42

Some porn is damaging to some individuals. Porn isn't going anywhere and energy put there in my opinion is not effective, due to the range and attraction of porn.

Education, information before the age of consent. Support and treatment at the other end.

In my opinion treat it like drugs. Millions worldwide will take drugs during their lifetime and be absolutely fine. Some will go on from an E in a 90s rave to full blown heroin addiction.

Yes laws, society etc are against the impact of drugs but there is a realisation of futility of saying ban all drugs. So society uses energy elsewhere as well where results are more effective.

So how do we effectively tackle the effects of porn consumption?

What kind of support? For who? Targeted how? How do you deliver the education and information? Drugs are illegal. Porn isn't.

The last time I checked I am not the politician incharge of this. I gave my opinion it would be up to the trained and qualified professionals to gather stakeholders and decide that.

I never said porn was illegal. I simply identified a similar issue and highlighted the areas that are showing to be effective

Honestly do you realise how aggressive you are coming over ?

Well it's a bit of a wishy washy nonsense opinion to have then.
I don't think it's aggressive to expect people to back up their statements. You can disengage if you can't.

No thank you, you can adhere to the talk guidelines.

Backing up? Exactly how would I back up a potential programme? Seriously you need to get some manners and improve your comprehension skills.

I think if "support and education" is your suggestion, then who should be a fairly easy question to answer. But ok.

How should I feel free? I think if you can read my response you should be able to comprehend where?

My postings have been clear it appears your aggressive nature is getting in the way if your comprehension.

I will leave it to you. I don't think you will be happy with anyone's response.🤷‍♀️

I think you need to reread your own posts if you think you detailed who, when where or how.
I don't have to agree with you, nor do you have to convince me if you don't want to. Post what you want, I will respond how I want.
