How on earth are we allowing porn like this to access

Surely aggressive and violent porn and all the other filth must be affecting people? I worry so much about what children get to see. Surely it must have an effect on men, it’s just so shocking the things that are out there.
We never had access to this before, just some magazines, Page 3, a few videos…what’s available now surely must have a psychological affect on people

Also the 'rough sex' defense is quite popular. Always seems to be women who die.

So many kids have devices in their hands which makes these acts seem normal. Hopefully dumbphones will become more and more popular. Social media and porn is so bad for young peoples mental health

I'm saying it works both ways - you have domme - with a man tied up, being slapped, humiliated by a woman in a cat suit etc or SPH.

There are lots of fetish porn and most is fantasy and not reality. The same way lots of people fantasise about celebs, work colleague etc.

You do realise a lot of what you want to ban is illegal and breaks many jurisdiction law.

What's illegal to ban? I'm not sure what you mean. In Australia social media is being banned for under 16s. Porn is restricted in many countries already and exposing children to porn is considered neglect.

What you're suggesting isn't enough and unlimited access to porn is rewiring children's brains and having a very detrimental effect. It also adversely effects girls and women leading to serious injuries, abuse and in some cases, death.

My comment wasn't clear apologies. I should have said it is already illegal to produce or share a lot of the materials. A significant portion of what is within the porn industry of extreme is linked to horrific human trafficking etc.

Making something illegal doesn't make it disappear. The only way this will reduce is demand led. If demand isn't there then it won't be produced.

Scrambledchickens · 01/10/2024 15:34

Totally agree with you op, I think porn and the apps that encourage sex on tap have totally devalued relationships. Women are portrayed as having no value and abuse of them is glorified.

There's a big demand for images of child abuse but it's illegal and won't come up under normal search functions.

I think people are very naive when it comes to porn. The industry is rife with trafficking, coercion and abuse. Many so called porn stars are child abuse survivors, addicts and suffer PTSD.

Mainstream porn sites are full of images of rape including underage sex, trafficked women and abuse. They also include revenge porn.

The acts they are coerced to perform are often violent and degrading. Some are very harmful including strangulation and anal.

You can't compare top shelf magazines and the odd dodgy VHS with the kind of images children have access to 24/7. Some men have normalised these acts, often can't perform because they're addicted to porn and it destroys relationships. It rewires the brain but it's like trying to get crack away from an addict and officials turn a blind eye to all the evidence pointing out how detrimental it is.

Dontlletmedownbruce · 01/10/2024 15:44

With my zero of understanding of interest and clouds and whatnot, you could convince me that it can't be regulated. But if child centred stuff can be banned traced and prosecuted then yes violent porn can be easily banned. There will always be IT types who can get around anything and still access it but so be it, they aren't 11.

I don't understand why there aren't stronger lobby groups going to get this made illegal. I think we are only at the beginning of the real consequences to society.

ATenShun · 01/10/2024 15:45

Pigeonqueen · 01/10/2024 07:58

I think this too. I think a lot of men - even the “good” married ones see women like an appliance. You see it all the time in the relationships board, if their “appliance” stops working (doesn’t want sex anymore for any reason, becomes disabled etc) they’ll just swap it for a new one.

I don't think what you describe is just done by men. Mumsnet is incredibly contrary in that respect. If a Woman complains that her partner no longer sleeps with her, she is often told to leave him. Not to try and find a solution. If a Man complains his partner will no longer get intimate, he will be told to suck it up. It's her choice.

Reality is that sex is an important thing to a large number of adults. To remove it from a relationship without any discussion is unfair on the other partner imo, and seeking it elsewhere not wholly unreasonable.

Bangwam1 · 01/10/2024 15:47

It’s destroying men, but they’re eating it up like the junkies they are. Here’s one simple side effect, erectile dysfunction.

Personal responsibility. I only feel for their families.

Have you reported this underage or trafficked women you see to the hosting site or police?

Almost all children first access porn accidentally via twitter / google search / instagram. Their tastes, just like adults, can then change to aggressive / violent porn as time goes on. This is why public sites needs to do more to keep kids out

There are millions of videos on sites such as Pornhub and I would have to investigate them in order to find out which ones depicted illegal acts. The industry isn't properly regulated and now anyone with a phone can upload videos.

A few years ago, a New York Times writer investigated Pornhub and found evidence of revenge porn, and rape including child rape.

Pornhub has removed millions of videos – the majority of its content – after an investigation revealed a large number of them featured underaged and sex-trafficked subjects.

Edited

So the site when it was made aware the content was illegal removed it.

@Holdyourpeace
Which brings us back to what I've been saying all along. If it is legal, although a subject you do not like. The reasonable action for parents is to control what their children have access to. Not expect the internet suppliers, websites etc to do it for them.

There are any number of sexual acts that viewing would certainly not arouse me. But it isn't my place to tell anybody else what they should like sexually, they likely think similar of things that turn me on.

It was mainly down to an investigation that found illegal content and evidence of trafficking, child abuse and rape. It would be impossible to investigate every video but there is still illegal content on it and other mainstream sites.

We know this because of evidence from victims.

Crikeyalmighty · 01/10/2024 16:38

@Fluufer yep and those who say well I don't have an issue with DH watching it - I suspect plenty have no idea what is actually out there- just the headings of the thumbnail trailers are disgusting in most cases - lots of incest, anal, fisting etc - plus constant pop ups for hookers, online sex chats and private webcams and we wonder why so many have problems . Yes I know some women watch it too but I would be suprised if they are watching it most days/multiple times a week - as many men are

usernother · 01/10/2024 16:38

I blame parents not checking what their children are looking at.

Crikeyalmighty · 01/10/2024 16:47

@Fescue and the lack of romance is very sad I feel- you only have to see those talking about on line dating and very average older geezers wanting/asking for porno type pics off women almost the minute they say hello!!

ATenShun · 01/10/2024 16:49

@Holdyourpeace
I think some may be very surprised at what was readily available on VHS format back in the early 90's.

A vast amount of larger towns and cities had back street video exchanges or there was a dodgy couple of guys selling videos out the back of a car. Always recommended by a friend of a friend.
