Halloween duvet sets. WTF?

Saw in Home Bargains today. Took no notice of sizes or prices.

This is worse than Xmas bedding and cushions.

I think having themed bedding is pointless and besides you want a Xmas free room to chill out

Tk maxx had some gorgeous Halloween bedding! I’m very keen to grab myself one!

@PrincessSakura

i was in my two local ones last week. They didn't have any. I feel cheated now.

autumnbake · 30/08/2024 17:55

Life would be boring if everybody liked the same thing.

I think the seasonal stuff is lovely. Bought our house last year, and we are slowly building up our seasonal homeware for Xmas/Halloween/autumn and Easter.

I think it makes my house look cosy, i’m a homebody, and love spending money on my house rather than holidays or days out. I also love hosting so my family love to see the decorations too.

Everything I’ve bought so far we will reuse every year until it breaks or becomes tatty.

I need to see this duvet 🙏

Wait until next year, when B & M or Wilko will likely be flogging them. It is, after all, a tad quiet for retailers just after Christmas and they'll be looking for more opportunities to increase footfall.

They actually say they throw a duvet set in the bin after a year? Or they sell it on, take it to a charity shop etc? I'd be far too cheap to throw away something I could get a few quid for!

Honestly, I've seen people say they use things for a season and bin them. Especially if the quality isn't the best. I'm sure you can imagine the responses.

Izzymoon · 30/08/2024 18:01

Currently have a gorgeous brushed cotton pumpkin duvet on right now. Idgaf.

Nothing is pointless if it makes you happy.

Butteredtoast55 · 30/08/2024 17:42

There are people on this very site who have said they do.

@Butteredtoast55

link??

I have spent way too much time on here since I joined when it practically started. I have never seen a post saying anyone has thrown away seasonal bedding after one season

HelpMeGetThrough · 30/08/2024 18:03

places like B&M or The Range, or direct from tat-sites like Temu and Shein.

All owned by the company Chav & Co

As someone who is a goth and a pagan, i love it, i literally spend this time of year buying ALLL THE THINGS as my home decor for the rest of the year.

If you don't like it, don't buy it, but stop moaning, there's some of us who love all things spooky.

Spooky is for life, not just for halloween.

LlynTegid · 30/08/2024 18:04

Such tat should have double or triple VAT on them.

spikeandbuffy24 · 30/08/2024 18:04

I'm with @Foxxo
These live on my sofa all year

Bedding should have triple tax because it has something spooky on it? Give over

@Izzymoon

is it this years or one you've had a while? I'd like a brushed cotton pupkin duvet cover.

Disturbia81 · 30/08/2024 18:07

Just let people have some happiness in this hard world.

Foxxo · 30/08/2024 18:08

Next have some GORGEOUS halloween/autumn stuff in btw.

however i did buy the fluffy bat/cat in a witch hat ornament only so far xD

@LlynTegid

you're always such a cheerful poster 😄

I'm sure there's lots you have that I wouldn't have in my home! Let's get the VAT increased on that!!

StaunchMomma · 30/08/2024 18:10

This is purely exciting to me. I'd 100% sleep under a cute ghost duvet cover if DH would let me!

Halloween is by far my fave time of the year bar Xmas. It's like a spooky intro to the Xmas period.

I will be decorating the house and probably purchasing more gargoyles.

Yaaaayyyy!!!

NoDishiForRishi · 30/08/2024 18:10

I use it all year! All my blankets and bedding is spooky themed. I like it. My current bedspread is covered in ghosts! Why shouldn't people have things they enjoy? Life's too bloody short to get het up about bedding OP.

Sethera · 30/08/2024 18:11

Not Hallowe'en themed, but I have some autumnal bedding - looking forward to putting it on in a couple of weeks. There's nothing wrong with seasonal home things.

Digbyscolleague · 30/08/2024 18:14

I’m not into Halloween but do love some pumpkin decor. It’s also used for longer than Christmas as it comes out Sept 1st for meteorological Autumn, and goes away Dec 1 when the Christmas stuff comes out.

@Foxxo

thanks for the heads up. Must have a look!

I don't think this thread is achieving what the OP hoped 🐈‍⬛🤣

& you've just reminded me. I got a gorgeous wee cuddly bat last year, can't wait to get the Autumn/Halloween box out this weekend & if he sneaks out early then
so be it !!

We live in a consumerist society, where vendors have to keep seeking new ways to separate individuals from their money.

We also live in a British society where people moan about the loss of our culture but are happy to turn their backs on a tradition our pagan ancestors celebrated way before the Romans turned up with Christianity because they have deemed it, incorrectly, 'American consumerism'.

Bring on All Hallows Eve, I say.

Also, my gargoyles are not tat.

Rude.

😂
