What threads have you seen on here that have lodged themselves into your brain?

For me it's the lady who was gifted a periscope by her dh which was completely random and hilarious.

Also the lady who upset a crow and never came back! Assumed she and her dog were eaten by the crows.

There was one where a poster has received a Xmas card from Peter and Sheila which was addressed to Gaynor and Mike. She had contacted them to let them know they had moved away.

There were lots of speculation on why Gaynor and Mike didn't want to talk to Peter and Sheila anymore. There were several funny posts about it.

Little red toothbrush’s thread/s the courage it must have taken that day. I hope she is well and would love if some day she popped up to give us an update on how she is doing.

She posted above!

crikeycrumbsblimey · 30/08/2024 22:27

Gosh yes been trying to remember her!

Meatymeatytimetoeaty · 30/08/2024 22:39

Balonz. Just bizarre

Worryer · 30/08/2024 23:12

The other one I randomly think about is the lady whose cat got stuck in the neighbor's house (they were renovating and were away). The lady tried all sorts to entice the cat out of the house, including calling the neighbors (couldn't reach them), calling their builder (it was a bank holiday), and lastly, shoving prawns/prawn heads through the gap in the window to keep the cat alive until the builders returned 😳

The one where the OPs husband was killed in a Paragliding accident and over time she discovered things about him that she didn't know. His accident was reported in the local papers.
The other one was where the OPs partner had passed away and she was caring for the partners elderly mum and she was torn about the living arrangement and being her carer. In the end the mum agreed to move to a home and there was a lot of mixed emotions.

ellyeth · 01/09/2024 00:28

I remember the thread about what was the last straw that caused a break up.

One poster said she had arranged with her partner to go camping. She and her children travelled separately from him as I think he was working. During the night it poured with rain and tit was muddy and miserable. They decided to cut their losses and go home. In the pouring rain, he packed up all his stuff and left the OP to dismantle her tent and sort out the kids, etc. I was outraged on her behalf.

Thanks for the thread I've added a lot to my watch list, I remember a little boy who had a badge which was spooky

That was Birdy Friend.

I miss the Janet and Roy letters, does anyone still do them?

CaptainCallisto · 01/09/2024 08:44

The one that always sticks in my mind is nickelbabe and her live birth thread. I'd just had DS1 - he must have been 2 or 3 days old - and I just wanted to give her a hug and tell her things would be OK. I always think of her around DS's birthday, and wonder how her almost teenager is doing.

EmeraldA129 · 01/09/2024 11:40

Recently there was one where a widow with young kids & a baby was reaching out for help on how to manage as she felt like she was just feeding them take-aways every night & not staying on top of anything. She posted a follow up last week & seems like she has got totally on top of everything & is feeling much better. She has stayed with me as I think she must be superwoman! ⭐️

FloofPaws · 01/09/2024 12:34

I remember the spooky ones

  1. A tented house, some sort of cupboard in the kitchen for coats I think that was t there after they moved out, and was t in the particulars when they looked back over them
  1. Evil presence in their house

😱😱

SuffolkUnicorn · 01/09/2024 13:42

I’ve been looking for the PurpleLampShades thread I’ve been following from the start does anyone know how she is doing?

BiscuityBoyle · 01/09/2024 13:52

I just remembered the one with the tickets for Chester Zoo. It was something about the nanny or perhaps another mum taking the children to Chester Zoo and the op didn’t believe her so asked to see the tickets. The nanny messaged her a drawing of two zoo tickets.

That was a troll they also posted about a bad cake pinched some photos off a website. The original owner of the photos was a Mumsnetter and turned on the thread

BiscuityBoyle · 01/09/2024 15:30

I think I remember it being a troll, but I also remember it being funny at the time.

I remember that one as well, it was very amusing. Pity it was fake!

I did Janet and Roy from 2014 until 2022. Sent to my parents who straight away twigged it was me and sent me back very funny responses.

During Covid i could not manage it anymore because I was too ground down to think of anything funny and said on a phone call that I was sorry, there would be no more Janet and Roys. Then we had a hilarious conversation where we swapped notes and jokes.

Boswell

TheKeatingFive · 01/09/2024 16:42

The one where the DH ate the fat balls that had been made for the birds, thinking they were a tasty homemade snack. Cried laughing at that one.

This was my first thought. Hysterical

noodlezoodle · 01/09/2024 22:50

So many mentioned here, especially the bloody missing ironing board - why do I care?!

The woman whose boyfriend had bought a house and discovered a tunnel under it that she wanted to explore. Thread ended abruptly and it was around the same time as the crow enemy woman vanished from her thread, so that was two threads where I really wanted to know the outcome!

Coatsprotectionleague who was planning to leave her husband - she popped up again recently when she heard some colleagues talking about her thread, and told us all is well now.

Finally the one I would most love to know what happened - MortalEnemy who was in love with her colleague and thought he might reciprocate. It was years abo now and I still wonder what happened!

paddyclampster · 01/09/2024 22:56

One about a cat getting locked in someone else’s house through a faulty cat flap and the woman posted it some sardines through the letterbox!

Boswell

I’d forgotten about Boswell until then. It’s the MN equivalent of The Game. Now I’ve lost.

T1Dmama · 01/09/2024 23:31

The lovely lady that got pregnant after years of trying and then kept her thread up dated throughout and shared a picture of the baby when it arrived… was so thrilled for her!
The guy whose neighbouring property kept coming onto his land and hanging a curtain of some sort from his trees to give their new seating area privacy…. Was a jokey post and very funny.
I also regularly think of the women who share abusive relationships on here and often wonder if they managed to get out.

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 01/09/2024 23:48

So many on here. A few years ago I wasn’t in a good place and loved the cutted up pear thread. But that’s all I can remember. Think it ended in classics. Used to laugh out loud!

WatchOutMissMarpleIsAbout · 01/09/2024 23:51

Didn’t realise it was so long ago!
