What threads have you seen on here that have lodged themselves into your brain?

For me it's the lady who was gifted a periscope by her dh which was completely random and hilarious.

Also the lady who upset a crow and never came back! Assumed she and her dog were eaten by the crows.

The dolphins one made me laugh so much.
Does anyone remember a post, maybe in a thread about weird things you’ve seen, where the poster was on a train watching a man eat his way through a block of lard?

sleepwithblanket · 29/08/2024 06:53

I found Pamela’s threads last night. I was in absolute bits. Mumsnet always has that element of members being strangers. At times, almost not real and you can keep posters and threads at arms length. Then there is Pamela and Kerr and Jacob. I’ll think of you often.

charlieinthehaystack · 29/08/2024 07:02

many stick but i found the one where the poster had lost an ironing board somewhere in their flat! beyond belief

Temporarynameforthisone · 29/08/2024 10:04

A mum of two little girls who put them up for adoption because of her mental health. Even the judge had said the system had let her down and she was a good mum. Same age as my daughters . I wept reading her posts.

ByFirmPoet · 29/08/2024 10:33

Deleted threads which started out about petty revenge but became absolutely batshit with some Mnetters having been stalkers and committing various criminal offences or just doing nasty, nasty things which they thought were justified and often thought were funny. Eye-opening.

Deleted thread about the frequent covert scam threads where posters were asked if they'd ever given money to a stranger on MN and many had given huge amounts of money and frequent grocery deliveries etc. They said they'd rather be conned than ignore someone who might be in need but ignored the fact that caused an ongoing problem on MN.

A thread about a DP getting drunk and drawing a sunflower around his DDs bellybutton. He thought it was cute, the OP didn't, but it descended into a mad bun fight about how it was child abuse, the OP needed to leave immediately and call the Police and CYPSS and one poster was relentless about the DP almost certainly being a paedophile SA the DD and also using the DD for CSAM on the dark web.

All the threads which are very likely made-up but go on for multiple threads with increasing drama and over-invested MNetters not being able to sleep because the OP hasn't posted for a day or two and they want MNHQ to intervene and do welfare checks.

There was one a year or two ago about a MNer on holiday, maybe in France and she’d witnessed an abusive family shouting at their daughter and then driving off without her. They didn’t come back for her for hours, if at all and the OP looked after the girl for a while. The police were called if I remember. I always wondered and hoped the little girl was ok.

Also the one where a big group of friends had kind of been subsiding one of the couples over the years as they never had any money, only to later find out the couple had been living off one salary and saving the rest as house deposits for their children. There was a lot of bad feeling about the couple ‘lying’ about their earnings and sponging off the friends. Curious to know where the land lies now on that one.

Oh yeah! I remember the spongy friends one 🤣.

Also there was one where the husband and children went to his parents for Christmas, and left the wife home alone 🥺

PixieLaLar · 27/08/2024 23:22

Oooh yes I think about the crow one still and the creepy music box!

Also the woman whose husband hid an air tag in her car before going abroad…I think he was planning on taking the kids to another country for a wedding or something? All sounded very worrying.

Oh that was recent! What happened in the end - air tag one?

Unicorntearsofgin · 29/08/2024 11:13

Just thought of another recent one. A woman who was partially sighted and clearly having a mental health crisis in her pregnancy. She kept talking about putting her son into care if there were relationship problems.

I felt really worried about her and her son and I hope she spoke to her midwife and got the help they both needed.

Wimbledonmum1985 · 29/08/2024 12:23

Need to read about this sinister night clubber

ellebelli · 29/08/2024 14:47

Birdie friend and the creepy music in the garden threads (the music one had recordings linked to it-then a peculiar msg from mumsnet about having to delete the thread because of things going on behind the scene or something.
Stuff like that sticks in my mind the most as it's mysterious and unresolved.
Plus I never understand after such threads the OP never comes back with a update!(probably cus it is a load of made up bullshit!!!)

Mypuppyismad · 29/08/2024 16:59

Oh yes I forgot the reason the music box thread was deleted! You are right about them saying something was going on behind the scenes which meant it had to be taken down.. this just intrigued me more. What in earth was happening? Please come back spooky garden misoc lady and let us know.

Mypuppyismad · 29/08/2024 16:59

*music

There was one where a woman was complaining that she was hurt by the safety bar on a ride being closed too firmly, something along those lines, but the reason I remember it was because of one posters hilarious response of “they are just teenagers trying to do their job, they have to make sure the safety bars are in place properly, they haven’t got time to gently ask each passenger if their boobs are ok” 😂😂😂😂😂😝. That’s obviously not an exact quote, but it still makes me laugh, it definitely entered my mind a couple of time this summer on a visit to Alton Towers.

This is the one I always think of too. I'm sure the thread was removed in the end. I really wanted an update on that one. It was getting so creepy.
Also the Savernake forest thread 😱

The Savernake forest one! That haunts me, especially at night, when I'm trying to get to sleep 😬

Snazwark · 29/08/2024 18:15

Do you remember the puppy sitting one ? The puppy escaped in the night and the lady followed it out it to a dark woods to be met with a voice telling her to turn back and she described a wall of black that the torch bounced back on . My sat nav diverted me onto a single lane track through a woods at 1am in the morning ( cheers dartford tunnel ) and I was almost about to have a panic attack as that's all I could think of , I've never been so relived to see the motorway

Atadautumnal · 29/08/2024 18:26

Pamela ❤️

Neighbours87 · 29/08/2024 18:33

One recently the ops son came home from his dad’s to say that the ex, new wife and kids were moving to Australia. It was heartbreaking. I wonder how things are working out

Iamthegirlwho · 29/08/2024 18:34

Ones that made me laugh - one where the electrician was having an affair in the OPs house, the one where the OP had neighbours who were trying to steel the end of his garden and the first one I read about a lady who wanted tips of how to get poo out of the cracks of her floorboards

PaininthePreferbial · 29/08/2024 18:39

There was an OP that said something along the lines of "Bloke here, I can help you with your computer problems" and one of the replies was "Thank God you're here, I've just been bashing my tits off the keyboard and hoping for the best".

😂😂😂

Here it is! Enjoy

The one that haunts me & that I think about the most is the thread by Purple Lampshades - such an awful situation for her and her son and how manipulation can so easily affect any of us. I'm so hoping to read some good news ftom her soon. Thinking of Purple often.

This one for me too. It's so devastating and heart breaking. I won't settle until I know that her son is out of that horrendous relationship and home safely with her.

AlwaysConfuseddd · 29/08/2024 19:11

There was a thread maybe a year ago of a woman in an abusive relationship and her wedding was in a few days, she was unsure if she wanted to get married or not, I hope she's okay.

whitefiligree · 29/08/2024 19:13

I haven’t RTFT but a recent one where the woman was the OW, convinced her affair partner was going to leave his wife in the next year, that they had something special together. The man had a young son.

That’s the Savernake forest one!!! Omg it’s so creepy! (Posted too soon in my excitement).
