What threads have you seen on here that have lodged themselves into your brain?

For me it's the lady who was gifted a periscope by her dh which was completely random and hilarious.

Also the lady who upset a crow and never came back! Assumed she and her dog were eaten by the crows.

A disturbing one where someone was worried about safety in her own home and she went and stayed overnight in the attic of someone else she knew who was away, hid in their attic with the ladder pulled up, and she made it sound like this wasn't that strange. I hope she is OK.

There was someone who used to post on here regularly, I can't remember her username it was a random mixture of letters and began with a D I think. She hated life didn't leave the house or do anything. She had a daughter who I think she claimed she didn't feel anything for and her daughter wasn't allowed to have friends over or do anything outside of the home either. I remember she had abusive parents who were still dragging her down and controlling her. She was planning to live in her car at one point. I can only vaguely remember the thread so I may have got some of those details wrong. Reddit had a thread going at the time discussing it.

Could someone either link or explain the penis beaker thread? I've seen it mentioned on here over the years but couldn't find it after a search and it's intriguing me as it's been mentioned so many times on here

Do you dunk your penis? | Mumsnet

I considered name changing for this, but, fuck it. We have a dedicated post-sex cleanup area on the bedside table. A box of tissues, a small bin, and...

A thread that stays with me was from a lady who was worried sick about her son. The young man was autistic just left one day and rang her from France. He hadn't contacted her again and no one could find him.
Heartbreaking. I hope she found him safe

GinAndGooseberries · 29/08/2024 23:20

The one about the husband having secret sex with metalic kitchen objects.

It was fake but harmless fake - always intended to be revealed as a joke. And as the youth would say "the comments passed the vibe check" and everyone played along

Modestee · 30/08/2024 00:03

"John Learns to Adult" I think it was called about a woman and children leaving her husband. It started as amusing real life under pressure.
It disintegrated later.

That sounds like DaughterDrowningInJunk. It was very sad - her parents would bring her things (furniture mainly) and she was so controlled by them that couldn’t refuse to take whatever they forced on her. She ended up in a house that she could barely move around in. I think they were turning the daughter against her as well. I don’t think she’s posted in the last few years.

Haven't RTFT so not sure if these have been mentioned.

This was probably 10 years ago or so. A poster was an alcoholic with a severely ill DH. She was struggling so hard to stop drinking because her DH needed her to care for him. She'd vow to stop, we'd encourage her but a day or so later she'd say she'd started drinking. I remember her because at one time she lived near where I had lived in the US so we shared memories of that place and other places we'd both visited. She abruptly stopped posting.

Seoladair's threads, although I believe she's still here under a different name.

A poster whose wealthy husband was vilely abusive and controlling. She managed to leave him and we continued communicating via PM as she walked her 'road' to a new life. She had met a new man and was pregnant by him when she must have deregg'd from MN as all her posts and PMs disappeared.

I hope they are all doing well.

Seoladair!!! Oh wow. I still think of her often. That was the first time I felt like I'd found 'friends' on mumsnet. Such a lovely supportive group of women. And hey @AcrossthePond55 lovely to see you ❤️🫶🏻

Seoladair if you are still around please dm me. I'd be so happy to hear from you.

She hasn't all her posts have been deleted. I often think about her and wonder how she is doing.

It was mainly her mother who was abusive and controlling. DDIJ didn't have a car so clearing stuff out wasn't easy either.

Although it's odd though her thread and posts have been deleted.

Needanewname42 · 30/08/2024 01:36

I've just searched DDIJ there are a bundle of posts under the initials which are also deleted.
Could she have been a troll or something?

Little red toothbrush’s thread/s the courage it must have taken that day. I hope she is well and would love if some day she popped up to give us an update on how she is doing.

She posted on here

@TheSquareMile

I knew I'd come up. It is incredible how the internet brings us together!

I ended up with a c-section under GA. I got to 42 weeks pregnant, 0 dilation and at a hospital that offers no pain relief of any kind (including epidural).

It turns out epidural wouldn't have worked anyway as I'm immune to local anesethia (no one believed me until I was on the operating table wiggling all over the place - especially away from the knife!).

So after my husband had given permission that they could use GA (thanks Japan) I went under.

As bad as a husband as he's been, he's an incredible dad. Poopy nappies changed, feeding schedule sorted and she's a little princess (he's lazy on her baths but I do that). It's been pure teamwork actually and while usually couples fall apart with a new born we're actually pulling though and seeing a future.

I received a lot of kindness on that thread so thank you. 😊 The doula never replied! x

Jaichangecentfoisdenom · 30/08/2024 08:00

@Cheeseeasyplease - thank you so much for your update, I am so glad that you are doing so well after all that trauma. Congratulations on your lovely daughter.

Thanks for the thread I've added a lot to my watch list, I remember a little boy who had a badge which was spooky

Seoladair's threads, although I believe she's still here under a different name. @AcrossthePond55 oh how lovely to hear she might still be around. I think of her too, she was up against a terrible witch and fighting for her child and to lead her own life. She was amazing.

I think of her often too, and wish her & DD well. And that her DH had a Damascene conversion and they're all NC with the witch.

Hello Lndnmummy!! Hope all is well with you and yours!

If you hear from Seo, if it's OK with her pm me. I promise not to 'share' nor to contact her directly.

He had a slow conversion and last that she posted that I saw, he was not quite no contact but he was being extremely careful with her (the witch, not Seo)

It was alarming to see the witch's effect and she did extraordinarily well to get her family safe from her.

The one where people were talking about putting their toilet brush into the dishwasher to clean it 💀(out throwing out after 1 use)
