What threads have you seen on here that have lodged themselves into your brain?

For me it's the lady who was gifted a periscope by her dh which was completely random and hilarious.

Also the lady who upset a crow and never came back! Assumed she and her dog were eaten by the crows.

The threads by Fifyfomum how sorry I felt for the children but Karma has been served as they started posting antisemitic things on what was then Twitter and has to appear in court next week

pomers · 29/08/2024 19:26

The one who was trying to persuade her partner’s girlfriend that she was unreasonable for not getting rid of her dog so that boyfriend could have her home to have his children 50/50 and so she could basically pay off his debts

Ones that made me laugh - one where the electrician was having an affair in the OPs house, the one where the OP had neighbours who were trying to steel the end of his garden and the first one I read about a lady who wanted tips of how to get poo out of the cracks of her floorboards

Ah I'd forgotten about the electrician! Wasn't the OP suspicious about what she'd seen on the Ring doorbell?

NooNoo1979 · 29/08/2024 19:35

Smelbow!!!! 😁

FizzingAda · 29/08/2024 19:47

Yikes! I,ve just read the link to the OP Savernake one, that is really scary 😱.

WaneyEdge · 29/08/2024 19:55

I can’t remember the names of posters. I recently NCd but been here a while.

One where OP was being filmed in the house and she and her DS left and then found out her DP wasn’t who he said he was.

Another where the OP found a mobile on their remote, rural garden. Police came for it I think but no further updates (that I remember).

strawberrysalsa · 29/08/2024 20:07

I still remember the thread about the couple who had an acquaintance invite themselves to stay in spite of getting a firm 'no'. The acquaintance still turned up and lots of fun ensued including discussions of siege equipment to fend her off.

Clocksgobackautumngirl · 29/08/2024 20:09

Mine was the woman whose husband was driving her potty about Glastonbury - the lineup, the secret acts, how commercial it is now. Even though he hadn’t been for years. Did he go this year?????

Askingforafriendtoday · 29/08/2024 20:10

35 weeks pregnant, how to put baby up for adoption one... she was terrified how she'd manage, fantastic, calming advice given re both options, she kept the baby and seemed to be coping well

DungareesAndTrombones · 29/08/2024 20:14

One from ages ago where the OP was being horribly horribly gaslit ans abuse by the husband and was slowly coming to the realisation that he was hideous. He would do awful things like keep her up all night after she had to breastfeed their baby, making her have sex with him and not letting her 'finish' until he said. It was really frightened me and I hope she managed to get the fuck away from him.

I think of the unresolved toilet paper rationing thread often. Who was it????

A thread earler this year about an allotment purchased with a property. The buyers were trying to evict a woman who was not cooperative at all. I always wondered what the outcome was.

SantasRubiksCube · 29/08/2024 20:32

Could someone either link or explain the penis beaker thread? I've seen it mentioned on here over the years but couldn't find it after a search and it's intriguing me as it's been mentioned so many times on here

GingerPirate · 29/08/2024 20:39

I'm "fairly" new, but the thread by the lady
whose partner "threw table and chairs" when asked to do his fair share at home.
This was shocking to me, and I'm neither young nor naive.
Hopefully she managed to get rid of that arsehole out of her life.

butterfly0404 · 29/08/2024 20:43

There was a poster called MyOtherCarisaPorsche whose husband had a serious life threatening heart condition or a burst aneurysm. He was in hospital but had to be transferred urgently and he might die during the transfer. She was getting no answers about his treatment and worried sick. One of the posters was a thoracic surgeon who knew the hospital her husband was at and basically told her who to phone and what to do.

The thread continued and her DH ended up serving but had a complete personality change due to the trauma he'd been though. The poor women was also prividing daily chikdcare for her disabled grandchildren and trying to look after her own health and her husband.

Thoracic surgeon poster really helped her with medical advice but her family life was falling apart as her DH was just becoming unbearable and more and more bizarre with his spending habits snd strange hobbies.

I don't know what happened to her, she sounded wonderful but totally taken advantage of.

It went viral several years ago and a new influx of people discovered MN

Seoladair's threads, although I believe she's still here under a different name. @AcrossthePond55 oh how lovely to hear she might still be around. I think of her too, she was up against a terrible witch and fighting for her child and to lead her own life. She was amazing.

Haven’t RTFT yet, only got half way through, but wanted to add one that always sticks in my mind. It was a lady who had emigrated to New Zealand with her DH and kids, he was from there and I think they either lived with his family or were very involved with his family, who were very controlling and abusive, a family business was involved too, and she wanted to leave him and take the kids back to London as she hated it so much, but couldn’t. It went on for a few years, she kept updating it and had made progress and moved to her own place but was still stuck in NZ. Last time I checked I think she hadn’t updated since lockdown and I often wonder how she’s doing now.

I think about this one all the time too, the posters name was ‘thumbwitchabroad’ or similar but I can’t find the threads anymore. Her situation made me so sad and I always wonder if she and the kids ever made it back to London

It feels like there is a thread like that out weeks!

Neveranynamesleft · 29/08/2024 21:20

There was one about a woman complaining about her partner and his carrier bags. Something about he had them folded up in his pockets and wouldnt let her have a bag when they got to the checkout ? Bonkers.

sillygoof · 28/08/2024 08:42

I remember one that ran to three or four threads but I either lost it or she left… I think she was Australian, and her teenaged son was being coerced by his girlfriend, not seeing his family or friends, not going to school. I wish I knew there was a happy ending there.

If I remember correctly, the son did break up with the nutty girlfriend.

HareHarePinchPunch · 29/08/2024 22:06

There was one where the next door neighbour made the DH cry and she never found out why but suspected an affair with the NDN niece or something. Hope that OP got closure.

A thread earler this year about an allotment purchased with a property. The buyers were trying to evict a woman who was not cooperative at all. I always wondered what the outcome was.

Betty's Beets Thread 4 is the most recent update from her, I think. The sister of the neighbour who had co-opted the garage from the OP was still around and moaning about the OP and her husband actually enforceing their ownership.

Buffs · 29/08/2024 22:09

The woman whose daughter was doing Gcse exams. Her family invited them over but deliberately kept quiet about how they were all recovering from the norovirus. The poor child had to do all her important exams while constantly throwing up in a bucket in a separate room. When the OP told her family, they berated her for trying to make them feel guilty. My blood still boils thinking about that poor OP and kid and her ignorant, selfish family.

Sewsewsew · 29/08/2024 22:12

The women who had the two from the flats behind having sex in her hedge. She’d not lived there long I think, and her dog wouldn’t pee on its own or something odd so she was at the bottom of the garden and heard these two regularly. Then her neighbour got involved too.

I laughed and laughed.
