JKR being uncharacteristically quiet

Jdugsgsgwyd · 17/08/2024 14:42

Anyone else noticed since the news that JKR is being sued by Imane Khelif she's been very quiet, unless I'm mistaken she's hasn't tweeted at all in about a week.

and hasn't responded at all to the legal action being taken against her. This is very unlike her, I'm thinking she's been advised by her lawyers to keep quiet. Anyone else think she might have put her foot in it this time?

People on here are being ridiculous. She has a vagina and to all intents and purposes is a woman. She was born one and raised as one and believes herself to be one.

She is being persecuted for something that is outwith her control

If you have a testis then for the purposes of competitive sport you are a man.

A medical condition isn't within your control but choosing to compete against women when you know you have a competitive advantage is.

LovelyBitOfHam · 17/08/2024 15:13

I agree with JKR in what she says but I also think it sometimes gets to the point where it’s no longer healthy.

A few times recently it seems like she’s gone from making sound points to engaging in slanging matches. I understand why and she has more restraint than I would, but ultimately I think there is a danger of tweeting too much.

We don't know what genitalia Khelif has. But he has xy chromosomes and male levels of testosterone. The fact that he was mis sexed as birth doesn't make him female

You don't know that they're XY either, because the IBA are refusing to release the test results they have, or even confirm that they did a chromosome test.

Also her testosterone levels were within the required limit to compete, same as every other athlete in the games.

How do you know they have a vagina? Being "raised as a girl" and believing yourself to be female aren't relevant here. The only relevant fact is whether they were eligible to compete.

The IBA can't release someone's private medical information to the media without their consent.

There was no "required limit" for testosterone in this case. The IOC just allowed them to compete on the basis that it says F in their passports.

I do find her lack of comment about the athlete who raped a child very interesting also. She was very concerned to speak out against Imane but not a man who has raped a 12 year old 🤔

At what point was JKR required to issue a statement on every single issue?

I agree, and this is what I'm wondering if perhaps this time she has bitten of more than she can chew

Fwiw, I would have loved if she had spoken out about that, but she's in danger of becoming a one trick pony.

There was no testosterone limit for the boxing the sole criteria was does it say female in your passport. Lin and Khelif would have both been ineligible to compete as females in the Athletics, swimming and cycling

I have never said she had to. I think you're deliberately missing the point of what I'm saying so as not to acknowledge my point

Not before time. She is a total pain in the neck. Not surprised all the HP cast have more or less turned against her.

So funny.

AngelinaFibres · 17/08/2024 15:19

So cyber bullying ( which JKR didn't do anyway) is bad but a man punching a woman in the face in the name of sport is a beautiful and brave thing.

spannasaurus · 17/08/2024 15:20

@Jdugsgsgwyd I find

Jdugsgsgwyd · 17/08/2024 14:58

Or because of the jokes about her house being mouldy 🤣

What's the joke?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/08/2024 15:21

We have separate male and female categories to benefit and safeguard those athletes who didn't go through male puberty. If the two boxers can prove they didn't go through male puberty then they were OK in the female category. We wouldn't be in this mess if the IOC hadn't stopped mandatory sex testing. They need to reinstate it.

You can't blame individual athletes for this.

Blame the IOC.

Totally unfair to blame the Algerian boxer.

What's the joke?

So JK prev profile picture there was some strange colouring on her walls in the background. More than likely it's just a side effect of the picture being slightly edited, but it kinda looks like black mould on her walls so the internet is making jokes that her house is mouldy. Around this time the jokes were being made, she changed her profile picture

Being born with a chromosome disorder is certainly outside anyone's control, I have a DC who has one and so I have sympathy with anyone navigating this situation but competing in elite sport is a choice and you have to expect a very high level of scrutiny.

Sports people can get banned from competition for a variety of reasons, it can't be a surprise that someone who may have a physiological advantage would be investigated. If they don't like the scrutiny, they shouldn't participate.

But they won't, because that would rule out all trans women athletes from competing in women's categories as well as people like Imane Khelif and Caster Semenya.

There wouldn't be a Harry Potter cast if it wasn't for her.

What makes her a pain in the neck exactly?

Just about everything. An arrogant bully.

spannasaurus · 17/08/2024 15:26

@Jdugsgsgwyd I find the search function on mn a bit tricky so could you give a link to your previous posts where you condemned the Dutch rapist

FreedomDogs · 17/08/2024 15:27

Pleased she's getting sued, she's made some disgusting bullying comments about multiple different people now that go way beyond reasonable concerns about women's rights, and comes across like a privileged billionaire who thinks she can say what she wants about the little people without consequence.

DeeCeeCherry · 17/08/2024 15:28

Well this legal action would mean requirement for Imane to do a DNA Swab, surely? Due to this I bet there'll be no test, and the legal action is quietly dropped. I highly doubt JKR has anything to worry about.

Why should JKR have to address any other matters anyway? 'Yeah but you didn't say anything about...' is totally irrelevant.
