JKR being uncharacteristically quiet

1000 replies

Jdugsgsgwyd · 17/08/2024 14:42

Anyone else noticed since the news that JKR is being sued by Imane Khelif she's been very quiet, unless I'm mistaken she's hasn't tweeted at all in about a week.

and hasn't responded at all to the legal action being taken against her. This is very unlike her, I'm thinking she's been advised by her lawyers to keep quiet. Anyone else think she might have put her foot in it this time?

So without trans bashing she's got nothing to say?

On the same day she was rather concerned about the marital age in Iraq being lowered to nine years old, for girls. She has a lot to say about anything which is in opposition to women having rights etc.

spannasaurus · 17/08/2024 14:59

Is it bullying to complain about two males being allowed in a boxing ring to punch women?

Quitelikeit · 17/08/2024 15:00

This is not black and white.

The boxer, has female genitalia, was raised as a female and lives as one.

Apparently she was born with testis inside her and that increased her testosterone.

So this is not as simple as a man being allowed to box as a female.

I think it was dreadful the way JKR spoke out when all things considered this boxer was not a man! Which is why she was probably allowed to box in the first place

Not before time. She is a total pain in the neck. Not surprised all the HP cast have more or less turned against her.

There wouldn't be a Harry Potter cast if it wasn't for her.

What makes her a pain in the neck exactly?

So you clearly don't follow her then. She calls out men. Has she ever 'bashed' a trans man?

Nobody has accused Khelif of being trans. Being pro woman doesn’t mean someone is anti trans in the same way that being a feminist doesn’t make you a misandrist.

Well since Imane isn't a woman and so far hasn't taken action against the IBA which stopped him competing in women's boxing on the basis of being a man I think JKR is on pretty safe ground here.

If you're a TRA hoping she's fled you might be a tad disappointed.

The IBA is a disgraced organisation, stripped of it's right to commission Olympic boxing over corruption and procedural issues.

It only went after Imane when she beat a Russian athlete (IBA is Russian-ran). Changed it's procedures, and has repeated refused to provide the results of the test it claims she's failed, or even confirm what the tests were.

They held a press conference during the games that was an absolute disaster, where their medical expert and their director couldn't even agree on what has happened.

We don't know what genitalia Khelif has. But he has xy chromosomes and male levels of testosterone. The fact that he was mis sexed as birth doesn't make him female

No I don't follow her

I just have a piece of paper that's says "trans are bad" to look at which serves the same purpose

At the point the boxer did a test which proved he was a male, he should never been allowed to continue to the Olympics.

If he was raised as female and truly believed he was female then it’s shame for him, but it’s nobodies Human Rights to be an Olympic athlete.

It really is as simple as a man being allowed to box as a female.

Mainoo72 · 17/08/2024 15:06

I don’t think she’ll be too worried or deliberately keeping quiet. She has the best legal representation & IK is a man so……

Jdugsgsgwyd · 17/08/2024 15:06

I do find her lack of comment about the athlete who raped a child very interesting also. She was very concerned to speak out against Imane but not a man who has raped a 12 year old 🤔

Why do posters think that neither Lin or Khelif made an appeal to the independent court of arbitration when they were disqualified. Maybe because they were aware that this would mean the test results would become public like they did in Cater Semanyas case (also a male)

It doesn't matter whether Khelif was raised as a girl or believed herself to be an XX female at any point in time.

If Khelif does have a testis then the truth will have becime very obvious during puberty.

All that is relevant here is whether Khelif has an unfair advantage over female athletes, which, according to the International Boxing Association, is the case.

The IOC could have run their own tests to either disprove or corroborate the IBA's findings, but chose not to.

As for JKR, I also think she has been uncharacteristically quiet of late. I hope there is no substance to the legal proceedings she has been named in.

It's completely irrelevant who did the test. The only piece of relevant information here is what the result of the test was. As I understand it, the test results were upheld by the Court of Arbitration in Sport and the boxer chose not to appeal which speaks volumes IMO.

If the IOC had considered biological reality rather than relying on passports the whole mess would have been avoided and the other competitors could have had a fair and safe contest.

People on here are being ridiculous. She has a vagina and to all intents and purposes is a woman. She was born one and raised as one and believes herself to be one.

She is being persecuted for something that is outwith her control

ZanyFox · 17/08/2024 15:10

I'd imagine she's been advised to keep quiet if it's true she's being sued?

Sadly the world is full of men being violent towards women. There aren't enough hours in the day to comment on all of them.

Quitelikeit · 17/08/2024 15:11

And if she had a dream to become an Olympian and she was allowed to enter despite her high testosterone then that is not on her. Officials allowed it but I can’t blame the woman for following her passion

Other than being XY? 🤔

That's a man.

Certainly not I agree with you. However it was a big news topic / controversy and JK was obviously paying attention to the olympics to be able to comment on the Imane situation multiple times. So given that, it is odd that she didn't say anything about the child rapist. It was an obscure case she could reasonably not have come across

And when celebrities use their platform to highlight issues they need to ensure they are in possession of all the facts

I think she is due an apology if anything
