Aibu to agree to an extent?

German refugee charity warns 'integration has FAILED'

In a bombshell interview, staff at a leading youth organisation in Germany have said the continuing influx of refugees means the system is at breaking point. They called for a 'freeze' in admissions.

People's rights are linked to the past, correct.

People living in countries that Britain colonised (raped and pillaged for years) are far less able to access their human rights because of the past and curent actions of this 'great nation state'.

You do know Albion was invaded and colonised before Britain invaded anywhere else. Rape and pillaging happened in almost every corner of the globe. It’s not a uniquely British thing

Oh OK. You're talking about integration in Germany specifically. It wasn't 100% clear from your post as the thread has obviously moved on quite a lot.

I didn't tag anyone so I was obviously replying to the OP's post.

I think integration is key in any country. Learn the lingo, follow their laws, rules and customs.
I don’t think that’s much to ask for but it seems like it is for some.

A lot of Brits in Spain don't make much attempt to learn Spanish either. As a Scottish person living in Scotland I quite possibly know more Spanish than some ex-pats (immigrants) do, and definitely know more German than some folk living in Germany!

Mimififi · 31/07/2024 15:57

Interesting take @Dulra . The Algerian man who stabbed the chilren & carers had been in Ireland 20 years & does this. I don't think he integrated too well somehow.

From what I hear Ireland is no better now. Mass discontent with government & huge riots last year in the capital after multiple children were stabbed.

And you think that is due to Muslim immigration? In Ireland? Where Muslims (including those born in Ireland) make up 50,000 people in a population of 5m?

HowardTJMoon · 31/07/2024 15:57

Absolutely. Why, only last week I was in London and there was this bloke who was obviously not from around here. He could barely speak English and dressed in some kind of weirdo foreign get-up that looked like a sodding skirt with a purse on the front. From what I could tell he was from somewhere called "glazgee" or "glasge" but who knows? I think he was trying to find somewhere selling his ethnic food. "Neeps an' tatties" or something.

If people are coming here from another country they should at least learn to speak our language, right?

Dulra · 31/07/2024 15:58

Mimififi · 31/07/2024 15:50

Exactly I didn't say say it. This is the second time on this thread I've been incorrectly misquoted. Typical left tactic, really enjoy calling you lot out!

You agreed with it same thing! I never said you said it but agreeing with a poster that did suggests you also hold that view otherwise you would not have agreed 🙄

I'm sick of the notion that ordinary people today are somehow responsible for what their lords and masters did in previous centuries. My forebears worked on the railways, in factories and before that were in service and agricultural labour. Colonialism was of no benefit to them

Scots were forced to speak English.

Well guess what we don't all taint all immigrants with the one brush. One man stabs children so they all will. Give your head a wobble

Was his crime known to be related to his ethnicity? Just wondering what I blame for Hungerford, say, or Dunblane. Or what about the mass killings in Norway? He was definitely born and bred

Scots were forced to speak English.

So foreigners who didn't even speak the Queen's English? Got it. We should rebuild Hadrian's Wall to keep them out. And the Welsh. And anyone from north of the Watford Gap. And the Cornish.

Sparklingnorthernlights · 31/07/2024 16:01

Multi-culturism worked in previous decades. They brought skills and enriched the country.

During the last decade that has not been the case. They are no longer adding a positive contribution to the country. It isn't working?

Dulra · 31/07/2024 16:01

@Mimififi and to add to that he has been living in Ireland 20 years! Had mental health issues and was the product of our mental health services, that's where the real issues lie. It is so basic and simple to blame all societies issues on immigrants.

Saschka · 31/07/2024 16:03

Mimififi · 31/07/2024 15:59

When you accused an Algerian mentally ill man of “a failure of integration” two minutes ago.

Are you reading your own posts, or is this al ChatGPT?

I think she means Scots in Scotland were forced to speak English like the Irish in Ireland. They were also banned from practicing their own faith. Those dam colonisers eh

I never said it & I never said "I agree with the drug use". Don't try this tactic, it won't work. I replied to the ops post & mentioned the homelessness. Again where did I use the words "drug use"?
I replied to an op but never specifically mentioned drug use. Stop misquoting it makes for very poor, immature discussion.

My point was that saying 'immigrants should learn the language and integrate' applies to everyone.

Well done Ivy

This poster is exactly right. The hypocrisy of the enabling left makes me sick. They scream racist to shut any discussion down, and the wheel keeps turning. The discussion is not being had. The elephant in the room is not addressed and then we turn on the news to hear another massacre has occurred.

Jesus wept. How many more children and people have to die at the expense of your hypocrisy before you wake up and say ENOUGH.

Funny enough there is a threat urging MN to look at this one or basically to delete this discussion as out of control racist. At the same time in the same thread above one poster is saying that at least is not all bad news as Maduro won the elections. 😡 A friend of mine was hurt fighting for their freedom yesterday in Venezuela. Only a hard left person who would still agree with the dictator stealing the elections. Let’s see how MN handles this situation of “far right “ vs hard left?

Of course I do. And I equally condemn the riots in Leeds a couple of weeks ago.

I appreciate you condemning all riots, but what is the relevance of the Leeds riots to this discussion? Unclear why you picked on those riots in particular to expressly mention. I'm not aware of any involvement of the EDL in the Leeds riots.

They are not adding a positive contribution to the country?

Does that include immigrant doctors and nurses? Care workers? Skilled professionals?

Which "they" are you talking about exactly?
