Wearing a skimpy bikini around teenage son

I'm late 40's and have recently lost alot of weight. I have treated myself to some new bikinis for an upcoming beach holiday and some are thong styles. I did originally buy the thong ones for when me and DH go away later in the year alone. But every holiday I go on abroad there is so many people younger and older than me showing all their bums! When I was a teen it was rare, but not anymore. Just not sure I'm brave enough or if it would be a massive no with adult/teen children! Wwyd?

I grew up with parents who went around naked at home, my mother would sunbathe naked most of the summer so I could never have friends over and I found it excruciatingly embarrassing as a teen!

You should wear whatever you feel comfortable in. I'd hope your teen would be respectful enough not to pass judgement on your appearance or choice of swimwear. When you've just bought them a beautiful holiday!
I personally would never wear a thong. I'm more comfortable in boy-shorts/ cycling shorts along with a bikini top. But each to their own.
I will be honest and say that the very skinny or very large don't look amazing in a thong, I'd also question it's comfort and practicality.
But as long as your happy that's all that matters!

I mean if it's not OK to wear in front of your teenage son, it's not OK to wear in front of other people's children either? or adults...

I don't enjoy looking at people's bums, when I'm sitting on a beach trying to enjoy the view, or have a nice beach lunch. reminds of all the examinations and procedures I've done over the years.

No 40 year old woman has lost THAT much weight.

There never has been a sight to see as one seeing themselves from behind.
Get a good rear view, from all angles, before you pack them for holiday.

I think basing your public clothing choices on what your husband likes to see you wearing is venturing into dodgy ground!

Do you have, or have you had, teens of your own, or even met a teen? They specialise in being judgemental, especially when it comes to their parents potentially embarrassing them. Also, just because you've taken your child on holiday, it doesn't mean they owe you anything, including tolerating looking at your bare arse every day.

No way would I wear a thong on holiday with my teens. They're not the nicest item of clothing really, especially if teamed with saggy/pimply/pasty/lumpy bottoms.

Nobody wants to see an arse pushing 50 in a thong. Nobody really likes seeing arses in a thong anyway unless they're gorgeous and teen boys will be saving one in their bank.

I've got friends in their 40s with super toned gym bodies that can out prance a 26 year kid in a thong!

I’m in Australia and most wear those cheeky/thong bikinis. All ages , look great and good for minimal tan lines.

I once heard someone talk about thongs and what they must smell like when you take them off at the end of the day and I’ve hated even the idea of them ever since.

The chances of them looking ok on anyone in their late 40s is zero I'm afraid.

But if you feel comfortable, then wearing them on holiday when it's just you and your DH would be better for your teen.

Tbh, I agree with other posters that they’re not particularly flattering on anyone. My DD (19) has a great figure, but I think she looks better in a regular bikini. Arse cracks just aren’t attractive.
