Wearing a skimpy bikini around teenage son

I'm late 40's and have recently lost alot of weight. I have treated myself to some new bikinis for an upcoming beach holiday and some are thong styles. I did originally buy the thong ones for when me and DH go away later in the year alone. But every holiday I go on abroad there is so many people younger and older than me showing all their bums! When I was a teen it was rare, but not anymore. Just not sure I'm brave enough or if it would be a massive no with adult/teen children! Wwyd?

I think there’s a cut off age for thong bikinis and it’s about 20. Late 40s is such a big no.

Serious question, just because you have lost weight, why do you need to wear such a gross 'dental floss' bikini? What are you trying to prove?

The hideous thong/side boob/underboob bikinis they wear in Love Island look awful on 20-something young women - who mostly have with toned and firm bodies. They are definitely not something a middle aged mum of teens should be wearing! 😬

I can tell you the vast majority of people do not look good in them, trust me. Especially If you are over 30 when you are not as toned as younger people. You would have to be very toned and thin, I’m talking no excess fat and at 40 a very firm, small bum, which rules out the vast majority of people.Even then you would look better in a full bikini or swimming costume.

My sons likewise, but I think what they’ve been used to seeing in a family environment isn’t the same as how they might feel somewhere else.

I also agree about rubbing your arse crack along the sunbeds. It’s quite gross really.

I'd bet the odds are excellent that your son would not want to see your arse crack being flossed by a bit of fabric. He'd probably rather scoop his eyeballs out.

You can get some lovely more Brazilian style bikini bottoms that are much nicer than a thong. The cut is much more flattering...

I am 48, I train hard at the gym & eat well. I'm proud of my figure and will wear whatever I want....

My son 24 does roll his eyes but is used to it and my daughter 15 is proud of her mum.

Seeing your parents naked at home/private space is very different from them walking around in thongs in public. Unless you let it all hang out in the town then I'll take it back 😅 op should do what she is comfortable with

Wear whatever you want. Its how you feel. My reality changed when I visited a Berlin park (and loads other places) many families are enjoying the sun in bikini's or completely nudo! It's a culture thing.

I've worn bikinis on holidays with my sons but there is no way I'd wear a thong in front of them. No one would feel comfortable.
Also no one looks good in them.

I really don’t think there is anything wrong with a decent bikini. Swimsuits are so annoying and uncomfortable especially go to to the loo in I don’t like them. I don’t think I have the most amazing figure but I’m not about to stop wearing a normal bikini for anyone!

I disagree with the majority and I think thongs look awesome on a nice bum. And nice bums do come in many shapes and sizes! I wish mine was one of them and if I could pull it off / was comfortable in one, then I would do it. I can see that it might embarrass your teen, so yes maybe save it for a non family holiday - but don't be ashamed of your bum! I think good on you for being proud of your body.
I also agree with a PP that Brazilian style ones also look really nice in shape but are a little less revealing?

I don’t care how slim and vital you are, if you’re late forties and have teenage DCs you 100% shouldn’t be wearing a thong on the family holiday.

@Behappyandbehave if you have the figure for it, fine. However, probably best to avoid photos of you and DS on SM if DS’s friends will see as, no matter how great you look, the pics could be a source of a lot of teen mickey-taking and comments about you (good as well as jokey) from his friends that might mortify him.
