Wearing a skimpy bikini around teenage son

Behappyandbehave · 09/07/2024 22:25

I'm late 40's and have recently lost alot of weight. I have treated myself to some new bikinis for an upcoming beach holiday and some are thong styles. I did originally buy the thong ones for when me and DH go away later in the year alone. But every holiday I go on abroad there is so many people younger and older than me showing all their bums! When I was a teen it was rare, but not anymore. Just not sure I'm brave enough or if it would be a massive no with adult/teen children! Wwyd?

Thongs look good on no-one.

Honestly, you could have the most perfect figure in the world but you'll be sitting and moving your barely covered arse hole all over the public chairs and sun loungers! 🤮

Not sure how your teenage son will feel, but I would've given my mum a very wide berth if she'd worn one.

I read that as ''Pubic hairs''...

Ugh. Big wobbly full arse cheeks on show - vile and nasty. Even on a size 8, exposing your entire bum will make it look huge. Eurgh, really tacky on a 20 year old but just not right on a late 40's body. Any teen boy seeing their mum like that would absolutely be disgusted and also be simultaneously so embarrassed and rightly so. Not even pleasant to be faced with on an "adults only" holiday.

Take this post for example. The language used. The insecurity just shines on through doesn't it? It was written in anger which is strange considering it's just a thread about a bikini.

Talking of which…where does the hair go? If they get rid of it- how? Asking for a friend obvs.

Fucking hell the bile on this thread. Some women really hate the thought of another woman having a body to be proud of don't they?

I don't think in this case anyone is having a go at Op for wanting to wear one, it's more our own personal preferences it's the fact that her teenge son will be with her & most definitely will be embarrasssed, we've all more or less said save them for her holiday with her husband , also many posters have congtratulated her on her weightloss, so no tearing down another woman at all

Summerhols26 · 10/07/2024 00:15

For a laugh my brother (who is comical) has for years kept his kids going that he is going to buy a mankini for their hols. My niece and nephew used to scream in horror at the thought and they weren’t even teens yet!

Thong bikinis are rank on any age! On a middle aged woman - really cringe.

Iaskedyouthrice · 10/07/2024 00:17

No @Scorchio84 words like grim, tacky and nasty have been used numerous times. Also lots of comments on age. Or does that not count as tearing another woman down?

Firefly1987 · 10/07/2024 00:19

I wouldn't have worn a thong bikini when I was a size 8 but I admire your confidence if you really are brave enough to consider it, teenager or not. Always wondered how other women feel comfortable/confident enough to wear certain clothing (or lack of) in public. Wish I had some of that confidence!

poshsnobtwit · 10/07/2024 00:21

My teen/adult children would have disowned me if I wore a thong in public, let alone in their line of sight.

Was it not just said in the abstract though, so not personally about the OP just in general, I think people are allowed to have opinions on clothing, it's not a personal attack attack on @Behappyandbehave at all

People are allowed have opinions & answer the question that was posed, many have said "wear what you like" etc so I really don't believe anyone has been tearing anyone down

Mmhmmn · 10/07/2024 00:30

GiveItAGoMalcom · 09/07/2024 23:44

I really don't imagine when the OP and her DH booked the family holiday, they told their teen "If you want to come along, you'll have to stare at your mother's arse crack for a fortnight".

I'm pretty sure they'd opt to stay with Granny or anyone who'd have them

😂 well the crack will be covered but not the bum flaps

Iaskedyouthrice · 10/07/2024 00:35

Oh I agree that people are entitled to their own opinions @Scorchio84it I just find it very sad that the very idea of a woman having a fab body and having no qualms about wearing a bikini, triggers such a response.
Some posters have been polite, some haven't. A few obviously think very little of themselves and that's shit for them but I do wish they wouldn't come on threads about women's clothing choices and be vile. That's just my opinion though.

We are not talking about just a bikini, though. It's clear we are discussing thong bikinis, where your entire arse and crack are on full display. Quite a difference.

ManchesterLu · 10/07/2024 00:51

Definitely take it with you. Tell your son that if he doesn't behave during the holiday you'll wear it.

It'll be the best holiday you've ever had.

(But god, don't wear it)

Scorchio84 · 10/07/2024 00:51

@Iaskedyouthrice I get what you mean but everyone is just answering specifically about thong bottoms not normal bikini bottoms plus the fact her teenage son will be in the vacinity, I think that's more why people are saying "god no don't!!!! " & in fact many have said save them for your holiday with your husband

TheCultureHusks · 10/07/2024 00:55

sugarbyebye · 09/07/2024 22:29

I voted YABU not because of the teen but because thong bikinis are Peter Stringfellow grim.

Peter Stringy Hairfellow!!!!
I’d completely forgotten about him 🤣

Anger?! Er, no. Insecurity?! No to that too. I am neither angry or insecure just because I have no wish to see peoples exposed bums on the beach! Many other people on this thread have expressed similar views. Are they angry and insecure too in your mind? Most also agree that wearing a thong bikini in front of a teenage son - is inappropriate because they really don't want or need to see that much of their mum. I have nothing against a bikini, tankini or swimsuit. Wear a thong bikini if you want, just because i don't want to see it doesn't prevent you from wearing it. In reality, i don't care that much and was simply sharing my views in response to the Op. Don't go assuming people are angry and insecure because their views don't align with yours. You actually do sound a bit angry...

Anotherparkingthread · 10/07/2024 01:01

Jesus Christ people need to get a grip. How fucking prudish and not to mention rather old fashioned. Ahem.

Wear what you like. We don't do that 'youre too old' shit any more. It's sexist and crude. Nobody will care. It's just a body.

If you're concerned about feeling vulnerable bring a wrap around skirt to to round your waist etc.

You're only 5 years older than me and I look fucking gorgeous in a bikini. Don't spend any time on what anybody else thinks.

Teenage son can get over it. He doesn't get to dictate what anybody else wears. He's your son for Christ sake you squeezed him out of your vagina, I'm sure he can tolerate seeing you in a bikini.

Edingril · 10/07/2024 01:13

I just don't think dental floss in a crack is a good look on anyone teenage eyes or not

I thought I was the only one shocked at how vile & ageist these comments are. Fucking hell, women really do hate other women don’t they…?

QueenBitch666 · 10/07/2024 01:31

Thongs look cringe regardless of shape or age. I've a great body and a weight lifters arse. I wouldn't be seen dead in a thong 🤮
Nobody want to see your arse

DreamTheMoors · 10/07/2024 01:34

Common.
Thong bikinis are common.

GertrudePerkinsPaperyThing · 10/07/2024 01:37

I think the only thing is that they might be a bit embarrassed. Or very embarrassed perhaps!

I don’t personally like thing bikinis but that’s just personal taste.

CowTown · 10/07/2024 03:40

Nothing to do with whether the teen in question is a son. Mine’s a girl and would die of humiliation if I wore a thong in public in her presence. “Cringe.”

pinkpillowlady · 09/07/2024 22:59

My piles are crying at the thought of a thing

😂

MrHarleyQuin · 10/07/2024 05:02

Not keen on them myself but people wear all sorts on holiday and I've seen the thong type worn by all ages. Teens being prudish is news to me as my DDs were wearing this type of bikini on holiday with us last year. They could hardly object to my wearing this style if I wanted to.
