Wearing a skimpy bikini around teenage son

I'm late 40's and have recently lost alot of weight. I have treated myself to some new bikinis for an upcoming beach holiday and some are thong styles. I did originally buy the thong ones for when me and DH go away later in the year alone. But every holiday I go on abroad there is so many people younger and older than me showing all their bums! When I was a teen it was rare, but not anymore. Just not sure I'm brave enough or if it would be a massive no with adult/teen children! Wwyd?

Step away from the thongs OP

friendlycat · 09/07/2024 22:33

God no. They look awful on 18 year olds, but late 40s !

PerfectYear321 · 09/07/2024 22:33

You could be Naomi Campbell but it would still be a hard no from me

My son's have been used to seeing me with it all hanging out since they were born so they wouldn't bat an eyelid, even now as adults.
My daughter's have been used to seeing their dad naked from the day they were born and they wouldn't bat an eyelid even now at him being naked.
Do what you're comfortable with.

Just because you've conditioned your kids not to object to your naked body doesn't mean those who haven't done that have done things wrong nor does it mean that every parent should just do what they are comfortable with with no consideration of their kids.

PerfectYear321 · 09/07/2024 22:34

They look ridiculous on Love Islanders, never mind mum of a teenager on a family holiday. Is this a troll post? 💀

Ohthatsjustalotofeffort · 09/07/2024 22:35

Oh OP I want to say do whatever makes you feel good but I think it’s a no - poor teens. I would have died if my mum had her arse hanging out when I was a teenager 🤣🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ save that for your adult
only holiday!

YorkshireTeaBiscuits · 09/07/2024 22:35

Just make sure you use moist toilet wipes and clean yourself properly after going to the toilet. This is what thong bikini wearers fail to do when inflicting the public with the sight of their unclean arses. They can only see the front view however the public can see the back view & it's not a pretty sight.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 09/07/2024 22:35

My main concern would be, in the first few days of your holiday, if you bum is particular large and white, then other folk on the beach may be adversely affected by photoketatitsis. 😎

ModernHijabi · 09/07/2024 22:36

Ugh no cover up.

Kendodd · 09/07/2024 22:36

Please don't wear a thong OP, I don't want to see it either.

Vettrianofan · 09/07/2024 22:37

Temporaryname158 · 09/07/2024 22:26

Do what you like!

why would it be inappropriate?

what I think is appropriate is teaching children bodies come in all shapes and size and ages and we shouldn’t be ashamed of any of them.

says no mum of teenage DC ever🤣

Summerinspringtime · 09/07/2024 22:37

I’ve come back from holiday and it’s the first hotel type holiday I’ve been on in some time.
I was very surprised to see all shapes and sizes parading around almost naked to be honest.
When I used to go on holiday with my dcs, I always used some sort of cover up if I was walking around the pool or going to get a drink etc.
I was slim too. Now both men and women don’t seam to care.
In one way it’s good that people feel comfortable but it wasn’t very pleasant to look at I can tell you.
I really don’t want to see someone’s genitals and arse and you have to keep averting your eyes so as not to see.

CandyLeBonBon · 09/07/2024 22:37

You want your kid to see your dental floss beachwear? Ok then! 😬

comedycentral · 09/07/2024 22:38

No, just no, save it for the couples break. Why would you even consider making them feel uncomfortable on their holiday?

Greatmate · 09/07/2024 22:38

Absolutely not. Your teenager doesn't want to see your arse cheeks.

Behappyandbehave · 09/07/2024 22:38

I think I've made me decision 😂 but I do disagree that they look awful on everyone. Some people look great! I wouldn't describe my arse as perfect but I would say it's ok for a thong (just maybe not with the teens!) DH would love it. We are staying at a private rental in Sep so will save them for then!

🤢

mitogoshi · 09/07/2024 22:38

I wouldn't wear a thing bikini if I was 22 and skinny. It's just not a good look. Some things are not for public, I've seen way too much accidentally on beaches

AnneShirleysNewDress · 09/07/2024 22:39

Well done on the weight loss. I'd keep them for when you go on holiday with DH. When you were a teenager would you have been embarrassed by your Mum in a thong? I know I would have (rightly or wrongly).

StrawberrySquash · 09/07/2024 22:40

Exactly how many have you bought?!

DinosaurWhizz · 09/07/2024 22:40

Late 40s is way too old for a thong bikini. The cut off is about 26. Very undignified OP. A normal bikini is fine as long as it's generously cut

Vettrianofan · 09/07/2024 22:40

You just don't know where to look and seriously would feel panicked into making a seriously sharp exit on the beach😂

Menora · 09/07/2024 22:41

I don’t have any strong opinions on what thongs look like on other people each to their own but they are not comfortable for me so I wouldn’t wear one. I am the classic person of always pulling my pants out of my bum crack so I would just look like I had a bad case of worms

are they comfy?

Bbq1 · 09/07/2024 22:43

Ugh. Big wobbly full arse cheeks on show - vile and nasty. Even on a size 8, exposing your entire bum will make it look huge. Eurgh, really tacky on a 20 year old but just not right on a late 40's body. Any teen boy seeing their mum like that would absolutely be disgusted and also be simultaneously so embarrassed and rightly so. Not even pleasant to be faced with on an "adults only" holiday.

I never said she's done anything wrong, hence I said do what you're comfortable with.
My kids weren't ' conditioned ' we're not British, we're from a country where nudity is normal and acceptable, so no conditioning needed.
